License tagging for Image:JonFernquest.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:JonFernquest.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 01:05, 6 August 2006 (UTC)

Image tagging for Image:Mepalms.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Mepalms.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the source and creator of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. Phayre's sources

[edit]

Hi Jon, I used Phayre's History of Burma as a source for a paper I wrote last year while I was an MA student at SOAS. Later, when I came back to the US, a professor at my current university criticized my use of Pharye, saying that, since he doesn't name his own sources, he can't be trusted. Do you find that to be true? What exactly were Phayre's sources? Are we able to ascertain which Burmese chronicles he drew upon?

Thanks!

I have added wiki-tags and a cite needed tag, as per the talk page on this article. Bearian

Relocation of your user page

[edit]

Hello. I have restored your userpage to your registered capitalization as its placement elsewhere was causing confusion and leading editors to leave comments for you there. Please feel free to contact me if you'd like to discuss this. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 16:30, 23 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Myanmar Wikipedia

[edit]

Hey Jon, I'd like to invite you to join the Myanmar Wikipedia community.

By the way, I read your comment on New Mandala (link):

It would be nice to set up a collaborative translation but I don’t know of a Mon font as of yet. Do you know of one? One of these days I’m going to get up to Songkhlaburi and learn spoken Mon too.

Unicode now supports Mon, Shan and two Karen dialects now. Here's more information on this. Also, if you need a font to work with Mon Unicode, here are the links:

If you have any questions, etc, feel free to leave a message.

Best,

Would like to discuss Burmese epigraphy with you

[edit]

Dear John,

I am trying to study Burmese epigraphy. My own agenda is Tibeto-Burman historical linguistics. I am trying to think of a way that I can do something systematically that is good both for me and the world. I am thiking of something comparable to this project we have for Tibetan (http://otdo.aa.tufs.ac.jp/). Perhaps we could be in touch over email? Here is my personal homepage (http://www.soas.ac.uk/staff/staff46254.php). Tibetologist (talk) 18:36, 29 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Notice

The article SOAS Bulletin of Burma Research has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Ephemeral non-notable journal that existed for a few years before folding. Not indexed in any selective databases, no independent sources. Does not meet WP:NJournals or WP:GNG.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.
