Your GA nomination of El Negrillar
Hi there, I'm pleased to inform you that I've begun reviewing the article El Negrillar you nominated for GA-status according to the criteria. This process may take up to 7 days. Feel free to contact me with any questions or comments you might have during this period. Message delivered by ChristieBot, on behalf of Kusma -- Kusma (talk) 16:23, 2 June 2024 (UTC)
Deletion review question
Hi! I hope this message finds you well. I'm writing a piece for the signpost and came across this 2016 AFD for Margaret Nichols which you closed as delete. I believe there were a few issues with it (not your role in it) which I think merit a review by yourself and/or other admins.
- The article was previously nominated at AFD in 2011 by User:James Cantor, whose colleagues had been criticized by Nichols in the past. There was no other support for a delete with multiple editors thinking it passed GNG and it was categorized as a USA, Sex and Gender, behavioral science, and author - related discussion.
- The 2016 AFD was created by a sock of Cantor (discovered in 2021), was only listed under academic-related discussions, and apart from himself only received two supports.
I'm unsure if the article did pass GNG (I can't see the history) so would like your opinion on 1) whether it might have been deleted unduly and 2) what to do in that case (would you undelete it, draftify it, take it to DRV, etc). Best regards, Your Friendly Neighborhood Sociologist ⚧ Ⓐ (talk) 16:12, 31 May 2024 (UTC)
- Greetings. I don't remember if back in the day I would consider 3 or 4 delete !votes (i.e if we treat Cantor and their sock as one account) as sufficient for a deletion. The sources are her own profile and articles that quote her without delving too deep in her as a person. The deletion was 8 years ago and 3-4 delete arguments is a low number. Are there more recent sources, say biographies about her or things that discuss her in some detail? Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk) 08:05, 1 June 2024 (UTC)
- I think so, I'm not so used to writing articles on academics so I'm not sure whether the comments in the original AFD about passing WP:NPROF held (and whether the article met criteria during the first AFD and was edited so it no longer did during the second).
- She's given TEDX talks and presented at conferences in the last few years[1][2]
- She's seems to have hundreds of citations from a check of google scholar
- This source says
By far, the pioneer in this field [lesbian sex therapy] is Margaret Nichols, who has been writing about the subject since the 1980s.
but I'm struggling to gain access to the rest of the text. [3] - This one on p 27 says that in the 90s and early 2000s Nichols "developed proposals of more queer approaches in sex therapy" and discusses their POV in relation to mainstream sex therapy. [4]
- This source puts her book in a recommended reading section and describes her as
a key pioneer working with LGBTQ+ clients with over 40 years of experience. Her book embraces current thinking on working with a wide range of clients
[5][6] - This goes into her views on sadomasochism[7]
- This discusses the politicization of AIDS, quotes Nichols, and notes she's the director of the Hyacinth Foundation, which was contracted to provide AIDS relief in New Jersey.[8]
- I don't have time for more research tonight, but AFAICT she's incredibly highly cited when it comes to sex therapy, particularly for lesbian couples, and has been for decades. Your Friendly Neighborhood Sociologist ⚧ Ⓐ (talk) 22:21, 2 June 2024 (UTC)

Opinion
Hi Jo-Jo, hope all’s well. Could you possibly take a look at the Holden Commodore (VE) article to see which sources you’d consider unreliable and reliable? Since late last year i’ve been think of bringing back this article to FA status (it’s a former FA) but still am not sure about the sourcing. Best, 750h+ 15:35, 8 June 2024 (UTC)
- Greetings. I don't do source reviews outside of FAC, usually, but if it matters, here's a few sources that make me wonder "what makes this a high-quality reliable source?"
Other sources didn't give much indication, but may need closer checking. Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk) 08:15, 9 June 2024 (UTC)

Congratulations, and thank you today for Incapillo, "about a volcanic caldera in the central Andes. It is not particularly remarkable or well-known, but it has been described as one of the highest of its kind - and so are the mountains that surround it. It was active during the past 520,000 years and there might be residual heat available."! --Gerda Arendt (talk) 06:44, 12 June 2024 (UTC)

Hudson Volcano scheduled for TFA
This is to let you know that the above article has been scheduled as today's featured article for 14 August 2024. Please check that the article needs no amendments. Feel free to amend the draft blurb, which can be found at Wikipedia:Today's featured article/August 2024, or to make comments on other matters concerning the scheduling of this article at Wikipedia talk:Today's featured article/August 2024. Please keep an eye on that page, as notifications of copy edits to or queries about the draft blurb may be left there by user:JennyOz, who assists the coordinators by reviewing the blurbs, or by others. I also suggest that you watchlist Wikipedia:Main Page/Errors from two days before it appears on the Main Page. Thanks, and congratulations on your work! Gog the Mild (talk) 15:41, 25 July 2024 (UTC)
- Hmm, not sure why this is scheduled for the 14th when the eruption commenced on the 8th. I kinda wonder if it could be reserved for Wikipedia:Today's featured article/August 2091 but I don't think we schedule things this far ahead? Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk) 06:55, 26 July 2024 (UTC)

- There was already a request in for 8 August, which has been accepted and scheduled. Feel free to book the 2091 slot at TFA Potentials . If you would prefer Hudson not to run on 14 August I could pull it. Gog the Mild (talk) 13:14, 28 July 2024 (UTC)
- Feel for you JJE. No offence to the original nom (User:DavidCane?) but as if a decades-dead railway manager (that is literally all he was) is more important than a live volcano (Helloo!!!)—even if he does have a birthday that day (wow!!!). Anyway, Railman has already had his shunt from Yard to Main Line, albeit in 2011, whereas the Volcano... ain't. Again, no offence to the nom. But. ——Serial Number 54129 13:47, 28 July 2024 (UTC)
