Welcome!
[edit]I'm Tiggerjay, and I noticed that you haven't been welcomed yet, so I thought I'd drop you a note. We do have a lot of users, and are currently working on 6,914,641 articles, so things can be a little intimidating... but don't worry! We love to help out, and we'll try our best to make your stay here as comfortable as possible.
Here are a few links I found useful when I first arrived here:-
You should sign your name on talk pages, discussions and votes by typing ~~~~
; our software automatically converts it to your username and the date. Also, if you don't want to jump right into editing articles right now, why not check out the sandbox? Feel free to make test edits there.
I know it's a lot of information, but there are two more things I recommend you take note of while editing Wikipedia - cite references wherever possible, and avoid allowing personal biases interfere with your editing.
I hope you enjoy editing and being a Wikipedian - I definitely do. Although we all make mistakes, please keep in mind what Wikipedia is not. If you have any questions or problems, leave me a message on my talk page, and I'll try my best to help. Otherwise, please come to the New contributors' help page, where experienced Wikipedians can answer any queries you have! Or, you can just type {{helpme}}
on your user page, and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions.
We hope you stick around, and make sure you enjoy yourself! Cheers, – Tiggerjay (talk)
Managing a conflict of interest
[edit]Hello, SwaToRz. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about in the page Financial data vendor, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:
- avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, company, organization or competitors;
- propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (see the {{request edit}} template);
- disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see WP:DISCLOSE);
- avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
- do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.
In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).
Also please note that editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. GermanJoe (talk) 22:03, 3 January 2019 (UTC)
Can I respond here? No conflicts here. FINTRX is an established family office data provider. I work on in the space and many people around me use them. I used to be a client of theirs. I don't know them personally though.
- Hello, SwaToRz. Thank you for the clarification. If you want to contact another editor, you can ping them by adding {{ping|username here}} (without the nowiki parts around it) in your signed message. But I noticed your response anyway by sheer luck :). However, your revert of the external links and other fixes is against WP:EL, especially WP:ELMINOFFICIAL. If you have further questions please feel free to ask me, or start a thread at the article's talkpage to discuss concerns and disputed edits instead of reverting them. Thank you for your consideration. GermanJoe (talk) 14:59, 4 January 2019 (UTC)
The external links were already on there so all I did was include another one on there which was highly relevant. At this point, one cannot mention companies like Preqin and leave FINTRX out of the conversation. I also noticed you reverted other edits of mine including the ones to FAGE etc.. Not sure why you seem to be going after my edits :(
- I have reverted these edits not to target a specific editor, but because they are against Wikipedia guidelines regarding link usage and promotional editing for companies like Fage and FINTRX. If need be I'd be happy to explain these edits - and their background - to an administrator. Anyway, please post further questions at WP:Teahouse, a forum for new editors. Thank you.
