Konstantin Kakanias
[edit]You should wait for others to write an article about subjects in which you are personally involved, instead of writing it yourself, as you did at Konstantin Kakanias. This applies to articles about you, your achievements, your band, your business, your publications, your website, your relatives, and any other possible conflict of interest.
Creating an article about yourself is strongly discouraged. If you create such an article, it might be listed on articles for deletion. Deletion is not certain, but many feel strongly that you should not start articles about yourself. This is because independent creation encourages independent validation of both significance and verifiability. All edits to articles must conform to Wikipedia:No original research, Wikipedia:Neutral point of view, and Wikipedia:Verifiability.
If you are not "notable" under Wikipedia guidelines, creating an article about yourself may violate the policy that Wikipedia is not a personal webspace provider and would thus qualify for speedy deletion. If your achievements, etc., are verifiable and genuinely notable, and thus suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia, someone else will probably create an article about you sooner or later. (See Wikipedia:Wikipedians with articles.) Thank you. --bender235 (talk) 13:02, 18 February 2011 (UTC)
Feedback- Konstantin Kakanias
[edit]@bender235 Thank you for your feedback on my article "Konstantin Kakanias" above. May I assume that you issued the feedback on the main article page as well as the Talk:Konstantin Kakanias page. I am seeking further clarification on a few points. If you have the kindness and the time, please advise in further detail on the following, at your convenience:
- In the critique of the article you (I assume) felt the article was written as if I were personally involved with Kakanias. Would you tell me what part or parts of the article read as too personal? I believe I used numerous external references and links to support the article text.
- On the talk:Konstantin Kakanias page it says "This article has been rated as Start-Class on the project's quality scale." Is it possible to be more specific in terms of what the article is missing or what should be left out in order to improve the ranking?
- On the main page I received the feedback: "This article is an orphan, as few or no other articles link to it." In fact I was careful to create 20 links to other Wikipedia articles within the body of the main article. Am I missing something here?
Again thank you for your assistance. I would like to make any necessary improvements. Jdp2010s (talk) 22:41, 7 March 2011 (UTC)jdp2010s
- Consider that text about autobiographies as information. Your track record gave me reason enough to believe you're in a conflict of interest (see also WP:SPA). Are you?
- The assessment on the talk page has been done on basis of WPBiography's quality scale. See there for more information.
- An orphan is a page with few or no links from other pages. As of now, no other Wikipedia article links to Konstantin Kakanias. --bender235 (talk) 22:56, 7 March 2011 (UTC)
@bender235
- This is not an autobiographical page, nor am I employed by the subject. In fact I have met Konstantin Kakanias, and admire his work, but I am not writing the article on his behalf. I believe that many legitimate Wikipedia articles are written by authors who are inspired by their subjects- this alone does not render the articles in violation of conflict of interest guidelines. The content of the article has been backed up with references and external links. I would like the autobiographical banner removed from the top of the article.
- I would like to create links to the article from other pages but do not know how to do it. Thanks.
