Question from Anotheruser3436 (13:02, 21 September 2024)

[edit]

Hi Isochrone, I recently made an account here after using it for many many years. I am trying to fix an external reference (name macromicro) on the page https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Long_Now_Foundation to https://longnow.org/ideas/macro-to-micro-etching/ but seeing the error

As an anti-abuse measure, you are limited from performing this action too many times in a short space of time, and you have exceeded this limit. Please try again in a few minutes.

Anything else I can do to get unblocked? This is the first time I am attempting an edit here so I couldn't have performed an edit "too many times".

Thanks. --Anotheruser3436 (talk) 13:02, 21 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @Anotheruser3436, are you being blocked from accesing the aforementioned website, or simply the article itself? Or are you receiving this message when attempting to make an edit? If so, you might have to wait a bit before trying again. – Isochrone (talk) 20:46, 21 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, sorry I should have been more clear, I am blocked from submitting the edit. I tried again after about 24 hours but still seeing this. Anotheruser3436 (talk) 11:55, 22 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Anotheruser3436 I have implemented the change for you. As you are a new user, the software prevents you from inserting or modifying external links so as to reduce spam. After you meet the criteria to be "autoconfirmed" (10 edits and your account being 30 days old), you should not encounter messages like this.
You can see these metrics at the top of your contributions page. Feel free to ask me any other questions. – Isochrone (talk) 12:18, 22 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Got it, thanks for the help and the edit. Anotheruser3436 (talk) 12:20, 22 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
