AfD

[edit]

Just a note aboute AfD (articles for deletion): to nominate an article, just place {{subst:afd}} at the beginning of the article. This will generate the box for nominating an article (I'm under the impression you've been using cut&past, which is more complicated and prone to errors). Bye. - Liberatore(T) 15:27, 19 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

And please use an edit summary that says you are putting the article up for deletion. SchmuckyTheCat 21:11, 26 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Splitting of articles

[edit]

I noticed you've done a lot of article-splitting recently, which is fine in and of itself. However I think the unspoken standard is to usually leave behind some of the content, and only to move a section into its own article once it has become too unwieldy within the article as a whole. For instance, if you look at this section in the Sun article, you'll see it links to the main article, Faint young sun paradox - but the Sun article still has a brief description of the paradox, so that a casual reader will still be given an introduction to the subject without having to visit another article. This is just some constructive criticism - many articles out there are way too big, so splitting things up generally isn't a bad thing. Cheers! --PeruvianLlama(spit) 22:05, 22 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I agree. The main article should have a general overview; it's only worth splitting stuff if one particular section is getting massive. JayW 22:20, 23 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Rape articles

[edit]

I'll admit that I was a bit disturbed to see you create something like ten articles on rape in the space of five minutes, but it made more sense once I figured out that you're forking off new articles from large parents. It looked a bit odd for a minute there, though. -Hit bull, win steak(Moo!) 23:31, 22 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Someone hijacked your account?

[edit]

I notice that you have suddnely started moving articles and making random acts of vandalism that don't seem to be usual. Have you been taken over by aliens or just gone over to the Dark Side? Dabbler 11:56, 24 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Cat flap

[edit]

With regard to your recent comments, "It's surprising how many stupid Wikipedians there are." I would ask you to remain civil. - FrancisTyers · 12:57, 26 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

This doesn't seem appropriate as an article in its own right, so I have suggested that it be merged with Door, to save on the proliferation of articles about many similar concepts. Good idea?  (aeropagitica)  (talk)  13:01, 28 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Page moves

[edit]

Please don't make any more page moves without opening discussion on the appropriate talk page and gaining support first. You've made a number of inappropriate page moves recently - some of them against clear prior consensus. To avoid causing unnecessary trouble it is important that you know the subject and have the support of other editors. -- Solipsist 20:00, 28 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Please don't remove tags

[edit]

If you dispute a CSD, the appropriate remedy is to place a hangon tag in the article. In fact, the template on the page says that. Wikipedia is not a place for dicitonary entries. See WP:not If you want to make dicitonary entries then you might want to go to Wiktionary Brian 16:35, 1 July 2006 (UTC)btball[reply]

As they say in the movies, "oh be-have". Seriously, though, we are trying to write an encyclopedia here, so don't make joke edits. Some readers looking for a serious article might not find them amusing. Remember, millions of people read Wikipedia, so we have to take what we do a bit seriously here. If you'd like to experiment with editing, try the sandbox, where you can write whatever you want (as long as it's not offensive).

Hi, I noticed you started an article a little while ago at Fuji (company), but there's already an article on the company at Fujifilm. However, I did notice that you had made a good start at making a list of the company's products, so I proposed renaming the article to List of Fujifilm products for such an article along the lines of List of Motorola products. You might want to add your input to the move discussion at Talk:Fuji (company). -- Hawaiian717 03:21, 6 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Photographic lens

[edit]

Please don't paste in huge amounts of content from other web pages, as you did with Photographic lens. While Camerapedia content is licensed under the GFDL, the material was redundant and already convered in the article or other articles. I hope I didn't hurt your feelings by reverting your edit, but we can't have people cutting-and-pasting content into Wikipedia without any consideration for local standards of style. Some of it may be useful however e.g I notice that no mention is currently made of lens mounts in the article. --Imroy 03:55, 6 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Bower's numbers

[edit]

Hi, you gave a "keep" vote to Jonathan Bowers' large numbers, with an explanation that his numbers are larger than Conway's. However, I can't figure out how. Could you make the corrections to that article, so that it clearly states how the notation is more powerful than Conway's? From what I can tell, it seems to be identical. Thanks. linas 16:10, 18 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Closing afds

[edit]

Please don't close afd discussions as no consensus after you've already taken part in the discussion. Any non-admin users really should only close near-unanimous keep, redirect or merge votes, see Wikipedia:Deletion_process#Non-Administrators_closing_discussions for more. Thanks. - Bobet 13:45, 21 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Sockpuppet

[edit]

You have been accused of sockpuppetry. Please refer to Wikipedia:Suspected sock puppets/Helicoptor for evidence. Please make sure you make yourself familiar with notes for the suspect before editing the evidence page. Solipsist 06:43, 12 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Copying material from Camerapedia

[edit]

You start to an article on Nicca was an unacknowledged copy of the Camerapedia article on Nicca. The latter is indeed released under GFDL but its provenance should be noted. Incidentally, if you are going to copy stuff from Camerapedia (with due acknowledgements), you really ought to be more careful about it; for example a link to "Tower" within Camerapedia is quite a different matter than one within Wikipedia. -- Hoary 23:41, 26 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Sleeper account

[edit]

A {{prod}} template has been added to the article Sleeper account, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice explains why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may contest the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. If you endorse deletion of the article, and you are the only person who has made substantial edits to the page, please tag it with {{db-author}}.  — Timotab Timothy (not Tim dagnabbit!) 17:51, 22 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion of Template:Verylongtalkpage

[edit]

A tag has been placed on Template:Verylongtalkpage requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section T3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a deprecated or orphaned template. After seven days, if it is still unused and the speedy deletion tag has not been removed, the template will be deleted.

If the template is intended to be substituted, please feel free to remove the speedy deletion tag and please consider putting a note on the template's page indicating that it is substituted so as to avoid any future mistakes (<noinclude>{{transclusionless}}</noinclude>).

Thanks. --MZMcBride (talk) 03:47, 16 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The article Earth and Moon has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Merging to Moon complete as per merge-tag.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Iridia (talk) 05:49, 19 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
