Speedy deletion nomination of Draft:Josh Yugen
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Draft:Josh Yugen, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Managing a conflict of interest
[edit]Hello, HarryMaguireistheGOAT. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:
- avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, colleagues, company, organization, clients, or competitors;
- propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the {{edit COI}} template);
- disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest § How to disclose a COI);
- avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam § External link spamming);
- do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.
In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.
Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. In future, if someone asks you to create or edit an article, you need to disclose that fact. If you receive any kind of compensation, you really need to disclose that fact. But you also just shouldn't do it; if you know someone personally, it is extremely unlikely you will be able to write neutrally about them. AntiDionysius (talk) 23:54, 12 December 2023 (UTC)
- There’s no conflict of interest I’ve tried to be as non-bias as possible and if there’s anything that needs deleting or editing then can you please highlight that for me and I’ll do what is needed HarryMaguireistheGOAT (talk) 23:59, 12 December 2023 (UTC)
- Being asked to create the article by the person it is about is a conflict of interest. AntiDionysius (talk) 00:14, 13 December 2023 (UTC)
- You said that what should I do then HarryMaguireistheGOAT (talk) 00:16, 13 December 2023 (UTC)
- My suggestion would be simply to move on. You can stay on Wikipedia and contribute to the project in other ways if you want, but if this was the sole reason you created an account, then that's that I suppose. AntiDionysius (talk) 00:18, 13 December 2023 (UTC)
- Bit of a stupid suggestion if you ask me since I’m asking what should be done to allow it to be uploaded and you’re just spouting the same nonsense HarryMaguireistheGOAT (talk) 00:22, 13 December 2023 (UTC)
- You didn't ask "what should be done to allow it to be uploaded" you asked "what should I do". And my suggestion as to what you should do is stop trying to create the article. AntiDionysius (talk) 00:23, 13 December 2023 (UTC)
- Neek HarryMaguireistheGOAT (talk) 00:25, 13 December 2023 (UTC)
- OK AntiDionysius (talk) 00:25, 13 December 2023 (UTC)
- If you're very very committed to this idea, it is not literally against the rules for you to try to rewrite it so it is neutral. So you can do that if you really want. You will need to read the Conflict of Interest guideline and follow everything it says about declaring your COI.
- You asked
if there’s anything that needs deleting or editing then can you please highlight that for me and I’ll do what is needed
, and the issue was that the whole thing needed rewriting. Basically every sentence; that's why it was deleted, because it would have needed to be "fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic". So that would be what would be needed. - And if you do end up writing something promotional again, it'll probably get deleted again. That's why COI editing is so strongly discouraged; last time, you said you were trying to be neutral, and it still came out very promotional.
- This is why my advice is "don't bother". AntiDionysius (talk) 00:32, 13 December 2023 (UTC)
- Alright mate HarryMaguireistheGOAT (talk) 00:35, 13 December 2023 (UTC)
- is there a way i can get another person on Wikipedia to create the article so it won't be a conflict of interest HarryMaguireistheGOAT (talk) 00:43, 13 December 2023 (UTC)
- You can ask at Requested Articles but there's no guarantee anyone will take it up. The general view is that if an article subject is notable enough for Wikipedia then someone else, with no COI, will independently decide to write about it eventually. AntiDionysius (talk) 00:50, 13 December 2023 (UTC)
- I'll just try and rewrite it and be as neutral as possible, are there certain things I should also avoid talking about on the page as to not seem biased HarryMaguireistheGOAT (talk) 00:53, 13 December 2023 (UTC)
- I would read the Manual of Style article on "words to watch", for tips on specific language to avoid. I would also ensure everything you write is coming from independent, reliable (as defined by Wikipedia) sources. Go see what independent reliable sources say and then try to summarise it all, instead of writing first and then looking for sources to reference. Read good articles on Wikipedia and try to mirror how they talk about their subjects.
- Don't forget to read and follow the mandatory COI guidelines. AntiDionysius (talk) 01:01, 13 December 2023 (UTC)
- yea ive just submitted it now and ive tried to be as neutral as possible and ive also said what you said, to use other pages as references to how i should word everything. Also I apologise for calling you a neek earlier that wasnt very professional of me HarryMaguireistheGOAT (talk) 01:34, 13 December 2023 (UTC)
- I appreciate that, thank you.
- You'll need to submit the draft for review by clicking the button on the page at Draft:Josh Yugen; one of the article reviewer volunteers will then look over it and give you feedback ("good, draft accepted" or "xyz needs improving before it can be accepted").
