The article that I had created I had copied material from but was going to add to and expand, had just pasted into the box for my own reference while editing. I will not do this again. (Arundhati Bakshi (talkcontribs)) 21:12, 8 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I have a sandbox already, I just need to get in the habit of using it more often . . . unfortunately, I sometimes just write articles on the fly (if they are stubs anyway) and will sometimes paste other reviews in the main window so I can see if there is anything I missed or need to add -- I never copy directly from one source to the next and plan to leave it that way. Will try to keep it in user space until complete next time. Thanks for the advice. (Arundhati Bakshi (talkcontribs)) 21:21, 8 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Media Lab Groups

[edit]

On the Media Lab discussion page, we said that we liked the information (since it is currently in the Media Lab article), but thought that it should be seperated into different articles and accessed through a list. Since all of these groups are involved in research that is groundbreaking and I expect people to add additional information once it becomes available. If you have another idea, let me know.

PS- I continued talking on the Media Lab discussion page

List of Junior Common Rooms afd

[edit]

Hi you placed a Prod tag on the page List of Junior Common Rooms, with the prod reason as "Wikipedia is not a collection of external links". A user has removed the tag and provided a reason on the article talk page. So the page has now been put up for AfD.--Blue520 13:42, 9 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Slaciner

[edit]

Hi. Thanks for the thanks! I saw Dr. Laciner was trying to get his university represented here, but had some issues with style and maybe some of the rules, so I tried to clean his article up a little bit.

As for the proposal, it was just an idea, not sure if it can be turned into a workable solution. I notice that some users who come here are pretty darned aggressive and get hostile fast when you correct them, others like this fellow just need a belong hand hopefully. That's kind of why I thought it necessary.

I was thinking of how to work it so that it didn't sound negative or anything and was thinking of something along the lines of "And that's it!" as a clincher towards the bottom or something of that nature to empahsize that there aren't many rules, but they need to be followed. Anyway, thanks for noticing my efforts anyway! :) (Arundhati Bakshi (talkcontribs)) 21:33, 12 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I really don't appreciate you deleting that article. Did you not check its notability? The guy is famous. I assume you at least had the courtesy to remove him from the other pages he was edited into and all of the redirects to that page. Have fun! - Chaz365 04:10, 13 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, I think those articles should be in a group nom, rather than individually, since they're all related and will all be deleted for the same reasons- no point in cluttering up today's AfD main page. --Rory096 04:25, 13 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

To be honest, I have no idea. I assume you can merge them with a little note in front of each of the votes. It's not like it's a matter of vital importance. --Rory096 04:28, 13 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Misunderstanding

[edit]
  • Wiki-star: I'm sorry but i'm afraid you're misunderstanding the Joy Of Tournaments Article. The Software is meant for advertising. Please excuse me if i am making a mistake, but i don't think there is any other way to write the article, than to explain it's features.

I'm baffled? Why does the article require cleanup?

[edit]

Hey, thanks for your interest in the pxr article. I'll work on finding the reliable sources, so for now I guess we can go back to redirecting it to the parkour article. It's still a new activity, so it'll take a little while longer to really spread, but I should be able to provide those sources soon. As for the fake city, I reverted back to the previous edit, which was one that wasn't done by me, so I didn't realize what someone else had put.

Belphegor192 (talkcontribs) removed the changes you made to Sarvangasana and I reverted back to your version. I mention this because were nice enough to explain why you changed the article on Belphegor192's talk page. — ApolloCreed (comment) (talk) 19:03, 19 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Well, it was re-created...yet again. It is still very much a copyright violation of [[2]], as most of it is a direct copy/paste from that page. I thought you might like to know, so you can continue your discussions with User:Markallenstaples. The page should probably be speedied again, and normally I would, but this user does seem at least attempting to work with us and I'd live to give some opportunity for improving. That said, she has just one non-single release, and allmusic.com knows nothing about her. She quite possibly fails nn-band anyways. Sigh. --Durin 20:04, 19 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry to have scarpered and left this on you, I had an emergency call to go into work. It seems fairly well dealt with now, though her notability is still up for question. I already bit at the start unfortunately, though I did try to be as nice as possible about it. I can't get too involved in anything now as I have to wait because the emergency situation hasn't calmed down and may still flare up again. -- Francs2000 21:13, 19 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I know for a fact that I've never edited a page from my phone. I don't know what could be blanking the page.

No, you didn't. The sources in one case were entirely unreliable and in the other, don't even claim the actor has been diagnosed with ADHD. --Yamla 15:46, 25 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

My opinion is as good as yours. Its as good as anyone else in this morons paradise. I am not going anywhere. The lies and BS on the AYN RAND page will be changed or you get me forever.

Funny how you're blocking hundreds of people right now. You should be ashamed of yourself. All those poor AOL people unable to edit.
Change the Ayn Rand page and I go away. There's nothing in wikipedia rules that say I can't shorten an article and improve its accuracy at the same time. Thats not blanking. All it needs is the basic stuff. I am breaking no rules and I will continue till you people get a clue.

Reponse

[edit]

Reponse to your comments on:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:Philosophenweg

If you wish to be rent-a-shills for Robert G. Davis and USAA, that is your priviledge.

However, if you wish to know the facts of the matter, here they are:

Below is a proposed major revision to "USAA" - the result of carefully researched, assiduously annotated, completely foot-noted, and thoughtfully referenced:

snip

Below is the product of the USAA PR Department, supported by a long list of rent-a-shills, not one of which has actually drafted one complete sentence of text for the article.

snip

The USAA PR department text is materially and substantially incorrect - and misleading.

But that is not the point:

If you go to archive 7, yo can see that my text was posted for review for a month. Yet, you, the rent-a-shill purported admins apply the three revert rule against me but not against the rent-a-shills. And then you lock the article to the side of the rent-a-shills.

How about locking th article to my side of the argument - and then let's the shills propose amd defend their PR article.

"Nonsense" pertaining to "Jerry Murphy" article

List of obesity surgeons

[edit]

Hi,

thanks for your comment/message. I actually wanted people to know obesity surgeons in australia and new zealand with their practice location info. I have come across more such articles in Wiki lists. And since it is open to all, people can add more obesity surgeons and other info. I think this would help a lot for obese patients.

thanks

I can already tell from your message that you are a white boy, probably a george bush supporter. You dont tell me what is offensive because i have to listen to your oppressive kind all day. Dont tell me what the correct terms are because i know far better that you. I know what i am and i have the right to add the truth, your under contractual obligations by your rules and i expect you to follow your own rules. Now i will use my law degree, i am giving you (and other admins) notice of a cease and discess order from changing my remarks. if you do so i will press a suit again you and wikipedia for oppressive racial discrimination and breach of contract.

Roper v. Simmons

[edit]

However, in light of a 2003 U.S. Supreme Court ruling, in Atkins v. Virginia, 536 U.S. 304 (2002), that overturned the death penalty for the mentally retarded, the Missouri Supreme Court reconsidered Simmons' case and concluded that "a national consensus has developed against the execution of juvenile offenders" and sentenced Simmons to life imprisonment without parole.

It is not a 2003 ruling....it is obviously a typo, as it says (2002) after the case.....Atkins v Virginia (2002), Argued Feb. 20, 2002 and Decided June 20, 2002. see link

[edit]

Hi - I hope it wasn't too much of a problem that I added your comments to the article. They seemed like useful contributions - even if not phrased perfectly, they added information that was absent from the article. I thought of asking you to do it, but then I figured that being Bold would work fine. Of course, you're free to edit them or remove them if you prefer. Cheers, FreplySpang (talk) 23:18, 6 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

No, no, quite the opposite, I took it as a compliment that you did that! I hope you didn't take my follow-up comment to mean anything else; I simply meant that I was advocating a position on the AfD page, and might have phrased things a little differently if I'd written a similar paragraph in the article. OTOH, your quick thinking added a paragraph (mine) to the article, significantly lengthening it, and spurring others to add more info, thus negating the charges that it was too short and lacked information. (Also, I don't know who added the fact tag to it, but I wanted to point out it wasn't really necessary; if there's only one short line in existence, we don't have to source the fact that a line whose length is well known would be the first long line. QED.) I'm surprised this article is proving so controversial; perhaps some Wikipedians are also SoCal road warriors... Regards, ProhibitOnions 23:28, 6 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

It was really very quickly that you flagged down content that was being contributed. Yet you don't respond when steps are taken to make this content acceptable. The copyright holder has given permission and I am formally associated with the copyright holder. Please see Developers In Residence at AITI-KACE ...

It's really a damper on contributing to Wikipedia. Not to mention that the whole point of the exercise leading to the article you closed down was to get more Africa contributions. A legitimate contributor is trying to get started here and sstuff like this just turns it off. You may be happily in the West with lots of community and content being created. We are just trying to get started, in spite of obstacles like this!

The Selfish Gene - rock band

[edit]

Hi - on 4/7/06 you removed the information about the Madison, WI rock band the Selfish Gene. Is there a better place to post the information regarding the band? I definitely think that a reference to the band should be included on the page about Dawkins' book. Please let me know your recommendation. The members of the Selfish Gene have been greatly influenced by Dawkins' work and would like to steer fans of the book toward the music which we feel is highly complementary.

Thanks, Matt

The article about the book should probably be focussed on the book itself. Please see our notability guidelines for some guidance on whether your band merits its own Wikipedia article. New User Questions About a Post

[edit]

Hello,

My name is Frank Guerino and I recently joined under the user ID of "guerino1". I placed a new post (my first) on a topic page called "IT Operations". I received a message back that there was a recommendation to delete page because it had referenced back to a commercial company (TraverseIT, LLC) that made it appear as an advertisement. I apologize if that was how it came off, as I didn't intend it to be so. I just wanted to get the information out there and have references back to the sources, which are myself and my company, so that anyone interested in more details could find them. I have eliminated references back to my company but left an email mailto. You may want to review it to be sure. Also, if you have any ideas as to how I can better achieve the references I intended, please let me know.

The scenario is that we're actually in the middle of starting a new Not-For-Profit organization (a spin off from the company TraverseIT, LLC that was mentioned in the original post) that will be acting as an international standards and best practice body and is sponsoring the content and educational programs around it all. The new organization will be an open organization intended to drive the education and standardization of the IT industry.

Please review what I edited and let me know if this qualifies or if you feel there are still adjustments you recommend.

I thank you for your time and feedback.

Regards,

Sorry

[edit]

We are very sorry and we did not realise we were not allowed to put our game idea onto Wikipedia and it will not happen again. I hope you enjoyed reading about Monkeyville anyway.

Hi,

Many thanks for the help with User:Liverpool_5_times's vandalism mini-spree against me. Funny how some of the vandals get so easily offended, yet are quite happy to spoil the work of others. Ah well.

One small administrative matter. At one point during the AfD on Gareth Stewart, he moved the article to Gareth Stewart (footballer). Now that you have speedied the latter, Gareth Stewart is left as an orphaned REDIRECT page pointing nowhere. Can that orphan page also be deleted as part of the speedy decision, or should I tag it separately?

Many thanks again for all your help, Gwernol 17:45, 16 April 2006 (UTC) (who happens to be a "he" but is rather honored to be called "she" :-)

Why???

[edit]

Why did you delete my Poseidon Jennifer Ramsey section? I worked hard on that and I don't appreciate it. It tookme almost 2 hours to complete!!!

I have no idea what you are talking about

then read the articles yourself and perhaps offer a valid synthesis regarding consciousness and the development of the ability to detect stimuli.

yours is kind of misleading —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.20.141.165 (talkcontribs) 17:07, April 17, 2006

Tip Blanking

[edit]

That tip is a random double tip in the middle of non-existent tips. At least if you are gonna un-blank it, then move it earlier. I think that tip was an accident, because everything is the same except for the title. Either blank it, or move it earlier. The tip I am talking about is Wikipedia:Tip_of_the_day/July_25,_2006. Thank You --GeorgeMoneyTalk  Contribs 17:28, 18 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion of "Ethan Leib"

[edit]

Re: your deletion of the "Ethan Leib" page. Please see this page:

http://prawfsblawg.blogs.com/prawfsblawg/2006/04/to_wiki_or_not_.html#comments

Now, are you sure it was appropriate to delete a page that the subject of the page did not object to?

Thank you

Page move followup

[edit]

Hiya, I see you fixed the article page history for Quantum metaphysics, etc, from my request on WP:AN, thanks. However, it appears that a second user has just done the same thing again on the same page (i.e. rename via a copy and paste) which has messed it up again. I've dropped a note on the WP:AN requesting assistance again, don't know if you want to do it all again or not! PS I noticed the talk page history wasn't merged on the original article, was this just an oversight? Regards, MartinRe 22:31, 26 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Re the whole de-bureaucrating thing

[edit]

Hi, I never came to thank you for the message you left for me a month ago when I stepped down from being a bureaucrat. Thank you for the things you said, it's good to know there are still plenty of good people about in this project. I do not see myself standing for bureaucrat again anytime soon though who knows what the future may bring! Thank you once again. -- Francs2000 09:48, 29 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

excuse me?

[edit]

I did not change anything on wiki nor have I ever. I was just browsing and was accused of edited something.

did you read what my edits were?

[edit]

In the breastfeeding article it is not possible to make any changes unless something is deleted (due to size restrictions.) Therefore, adding any clarifying information is impossible unless something else is "tightened up." Please take the time to look at the actual deletions I made, and see that no information was lost! How can anything ever be added unless a deletion is made somewhere? Marydb

Hmmm, I'm surprised at you ;-)

[edit]

I've just seen a post that "you" made to Conrad-14 year old socialist.[5] Don't worry, it was removed by someone else. It seemed rather out of character for you! Cheers. AnnH 22:46, 29 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Yikes!

[edit]

Sorry! I don't know how the bottom half got blanked out! I will try again to make the few changes up top without doing that again. (I didn't touch the bottom part at all so I'm mystified!) Marydb

OK so I tried again, and discovered that if I press "edit this page" and then "show changes" (without even making any changes) it cuts out the bottom half of the article! Maybe it's cause I have an older computer? Strange! Marydb
