Vandal

Stirling Newberry dispute
I put a speedy delete on it, because it was not notable. However, as long as it is, these are external links which back up whatever notability claims the original posters made. Removing the speedy delete is vandalism. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Stirling Newberry (talk • contribs) 23:07, 19 January 2007 (UTC).
Yes I have added speedy -- twice including [1] this revision. The links were there originally since this was copied from my user page. Therefore, there is no WP:AUTO violation as I didn't add them, and I am acting under WP:BIO rules. Stirling Newberry 23:20, 19 January 2007 (UTC)

NPA
Please adhere to WP:NPA, weither you think someone is off their rocker or not. Argue against the argument, not the person --feba 22:00, 20 January 2007 (UTC)
- Ok, I must admit I crossed the line. I'll be more carful in the future. But between you and me, to insist there is slavery in the US, and that kids are getting their hands cut off, is nutty, to say the least. How do you prove a negative? Is there even a point in arguing with this guy? -- Dullfig 22:25, 20 January 2007 (UTC)
Adolf Hitler
Can I suggest you read the edits on Adolf Hitler? You asked me to calm down on my page, and I am calm. I am trying to ensure that the lead section of the article properly explains the extent of Hitler's crimes. This is something that two users, Golbez and Hanum systematically attempt to block at every attempt. MarkThomas 02:07, 21 January 2007 (UTC)
Surprised you went straight to the 3RR accusation (which is not true in my case) after your comments on my talk page. MarkThomas 02:21, 21 January 2007 (UTC)

re KansasCali
No, you're right, but probably AfD is appropriate. It looks like they have a couple of albums listed at allmusic.com. Borderline, but too big for a speedy, I guess. Herostratus 06:12, 21 January 2007 (UTC)
Motorcycle edit
Saw your Quasar article and wondered if you were aware of the Motorcycling Wikiproject in which you might be able to assist with motorcycling work. I have added Quasar to the list of new articles. Cheers ww2censor 02:35, 22 January 2007 (UTC)

Badain Speedy Delete.
Hi. Please see the conversation on the talk page of this article, which you tagged for SD. Many Thanks! Pedro1999a | Talk 08:37, 31 January 2007 (UTC)
- Why? It's obviously a page some little kid made to make himself seem cool, nothing to discuss -- febtalk 09:36, 31 January 2007 (UTC)
- Sorry, not with you. You did tag this for SD? So I assumed that as the hang-on tag was placed and I had started a discussion it was only courteous to invite you to join. Fair enough, it might have been a page by some little kid, and I'm sure that's cute, but it still has no place here. If you though otherwise why tag it? Anyhow, it's gone now so no matter. William Henry Carroll
Why are you deleting this page. I cleaned up the language to make it neutral. The person is certainly noteworthy. Instead of deleting it why don't you clean it up yourself? It is better to add to the scholarship than to capriciously have it deleted. Thank you. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Mustang278 (talk • contribs)
- What makes you the arbitrator of what is noteworthy? Certainly, a civil war general is notable as is the quotation about Governor Carroll. Do you have a rational reason why they are not noteworthy or is it just your personal opinion? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Mustang278 (talk • contribs)
- You did not say why you are deleting the quotation on Governor Carroll's page? It is a historical quotation that adds to the article. You have no legitimate reason to take it off except your own shortsighted preference.—Preceding unsigned comment added by Mustang278 (talk • contribs)
- You stated, "and I would like to complement you on your effort to remove NPOV statements from your articles. Thank you." This is an example of the second definition of patronize, which I have so kindly posted below. Also, you said "I'm adding these articles to CAT:CSD because they do not seemto have any notability." Well, seem is a weasal word. Seem is often used when "feelings" have no objective basis. Hence, you were patronizing and your NPOV had no logical foundation that you could verbalize. Therefore, my response seemed to be a personal attack, yet you left me no choice, "Answer a fool according to his folly, Lest he be wise in his own conceit." Proverbs 26:5.
- My comments are founded. I was not speaking of weasal in the Wikipedia sense. smart-aleciness truncated —Preceding unsigned comment added by Mustang278 (talk • contribs)

I certainly see the point in nominating this artcile for speedy deletion as well as the problem with the removed templates. However, as the contributor seems to be a new user, i would suggest to maybe propose it rather for AfD. Tikiwont 13:31, 1 February 2007 (UTC)
Talk Page deletions
- I think they meant creating a talk page after it was deleted. I've seen talk pages on speedies get missed all the time. Also, the hangon and talk page stuff is for the person defending it, passing wikipedians don't need to argue about it unless they think it should be kept. -- febtalk 16:22, 1 February 2007 (UTC)

HelpMe:Race
{helpme|Curious as to what WP's policies are on referring to race, what terms and such to use. As African-American obviously is incorrect for someone outside america, but other terms could be deemed offensive}
- I haven't seen anything like that before, perhaps ask at the Help desk or the Village pump. Since all Wikipedia material should come from Reliable sources, I would just use whatever term your reliable source did.--Commander Keane 04:02, 5 February 2007 (UTC)
- I don't think we have any such guidelines. I would advise you to go to the article of a prominent person of the same ethnicity and country, and see what that article uses. For instance, British MPs Oona King and Diane Abbott are both referred to as "black". If you're having doubts about any particular article, make sure to bring up the question on that article's talk page. After that, wing it. — coelacan talk — 06:06, 5 February 2007 (UTC)
i think you might want to exercise your usage of google or one of the other media sites or bettter yet go buy one of the albums listed and look at the credits to see that the information contained is factual and this production team has had almost 40 major releases to hit the charts. your removal of the tag is asked to be expedited very quickly. i am in the process of trying to post the full discography. --Superkat2 14:48, 30 January 2007 (UTC)
Thank you for your recent posting of an anonymous editor to Administrators intervention against vandalism. In the future though, when reporting IP addressed to WP:AIV, please make sure that they have had a final warning in the recent past. Due to the nature of IP addresses, spans of time between edits may indicate different users. Being it is possible that the currently vandalizing user did not get a true final warning they are often not be blocked. To remedy this, please make an effort to ensure that all vandals reported to WP:AIV have an appropriate, and recent, final warning. The most common final warnings are {{test4}} or {{bv}}. If you have any questions regarding this, please do not hesitate to ask me on my user talk page. Thanks again!-- Chrislk02 (Chris Kreider) 18:52, 5 February 2007 (UTC)
- How do you know it is the same person? With an IP address you do not. All I ask, (and many other adminstrators hve the same request) is that the user at least recieve a final warning. After that, i will almost certainyl block. The thing is, and I am sure you know this, many ip address are dynamic so, one day it may just be a blatant vandal and the other day it may be a confused newbie testing or expirementing. I looked through the contribs, and gave them a test4. after that, they did not edit again. -- Chrislk02 (Chris Kreider) 18:57, 5 February 2007 (UTC)
- By the way, i do want you to know that your anti vandalism work does not go unnapreciated. Here is a token of my gratitude. -- Chrislk02 (Chris Kreider) 18:58, 5 February 2007 (UTC)

I, Chrislk02, award you this anti vandalism barnstar for your excellent anti vandalism work! Keep it up, it is much appreciated. -- Chrislk02 (Chris Kreider) 18:58, 5 February 2007 (UTC) |
- I guess i was just trying to give you a heads up that I (and many other administrators) will generally not block an anon without a final warning, no matter what the circumstances are. (there are some that will though). Administrators can actually come under fire at time for blocking anons without final warnings. A good way to see if a vandal has true vandalistic intentions is to give them a warning. I have seen many vandal accounts just stop in there tracks after getting a recent warning. (I think mayn vandals think they can do what they want without any consequences. Ones that orange bar of "doom" pops up, many of them cease. The ones who continue are the ones who need blocked! Thanks again for talking throuigh this with me and being a very patient editor. it is much much appreciated. -- Chrislk02 (Chris Kreider) 19:05, 5 February 2007 (UTC)

Another editor has removed the {{db-bio}} that you placed on Worley Thorne because the article asserts notability. Please be careful to use speedy tags only when the article unambiguously falls within a speedy category. The article is now at AfD at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Worley Thorne. --Eastmain 18:12, 9 February 2007 (UTC)

I am aware of Wikipedia policy, but can you show me some links of pages I protected in advance? You're making it seem like I approve preventative requests on the norm. I only did so for Super Bowl XLI, and that was because it was a no-brainer, and I said to unprotect once the game started. Thanks, Nishkid64 01:21, 12 February 2007 (UTC)
- I, and many others, deal move-protected requests differently than semi-protected requests. If I have seen that a name has been changed, and then consensus has been reached for an article title, then I will move-protect it. Also, protection policy says I can move-protect "during a page name dispute", which is clearly what happened for The Pillows. Nishkid64 01:36, 12 February 2007 (UTC)
I have rewritten the article Sreelakshmi Suresh as it turns out she is an award winning web design of over 17 national and international awards. I have found notable sources such as the Hindu Times and Hindusian Times as references. You may want to re-examine the article and your vote in its AfD. Mkdwtalk 10:41, 13 February 2007 (UTC)
- I would place her as different as her awards are international and that she's most likely the worlds youngest web design and is factually the world's youngest award winning web design. Award winning in this case being notable even my Wikipedia's standards. Anywho, just thought I'd let you know and of course you're completely entitled to your own vote =) Mkdwtalk 10:52, 13 February 2007 (UTC)
- Please do not revert comments left by me on AfD's. Mkdwtalk 11:03, 13 February 2007 (UTC)
- I was not insulting you and had no intension of doing so. I noticed you felt offended and I tried to change my message to make it seem less offensive to you. Revamp messages are a practiced standard on AfD's. You may want to take a look at other AfD's where this has happened. I also suggest that you read about WP:CIVIL and assuming good faith when it comes to these sorts of things. Usually under a revamp circumstance, you'd vote below the line to show you've re-read the changes. The revamp message is also important to show that there has been change to the article since its nomination. Mkdwtalk 11:09, 13 February 2007 (UTC)
