A tag has been placed on El-Rayis, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article seems to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable. If you can indicate why El-Rayis is really notable, you can contest the tagging. To do this, please affix the template {{hangon}}
to the page and leave a note on Talk:El-Rayis, explaining how El-Rayis is notable. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself.
Please read the criteria for speedy deletion (specifically, article #7) and our general biography criteria. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. - SpLoT / (talk) 11:02, 26 October 2006 (UTC)
Image:Prof_El-Rayis.jpg listed for deletion
[edit]If you created this media file and want to use it on Wikipedia, you may re-upload it, but use the license {{GFDL-self}} to license it under the GFDL, or {{cc-by-sa-2.5}} to license it under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike license, or use {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain.
If you did not create this media file but want to use it on Wikipedia, there are two ways to proceed. First, you may choose one of the fair use tags from this list if you believe one of those fair use rationales applies to this file. Second, you may want to contact the copyright holder and request that they make the media available under a free license.
If you have any questions please ask at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you. Sherool (talk) 08:06, 30 October 2006 (UTC)Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia! We welcome and appreciate your contributions, such as ESPACENET, but we regretfully cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from either web sites or printed material. This article appears to be a direct copy from http://www.see.ed.ac.uk/~SLIg/ESPACENET.html. As a copyright violation, ESPACENET appears to qualify for speedy deletion under the speedy deletion criteria. ESPACENET has been tagged for deletion, and may have been deleted by the time you see this message. If the source is a credible one, please consider rewriting the content and citing the source.
If you believe that the article is not a copyright violation, or if you have permission from the copyright holder to release the content freely under the GFDL, you can comment to that effect on Talk:ESPACENET. If the article has already been deleted, but you have a proper release, you can reenter the content at ESPACENET, after describing the release on the talk page. However, you may want to consider rewriting the content in your own words. Thank you, and please feel free to continue contributing to Wikipedia. FreplySpang 09:39, 2 November 2006 (UTC)
- Please do not repost this article unless you can establish that you are authorized to do so. Wikipedia does not accept material that is copied from other sources without authorization.
- There are two ways that you can release this material for publication on Wikipedia. Either:
- Make a note permitting re-use under the GFDL at the site of the original publication.
- Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions at wikimedia dot org or a postal message to the Wikimedia Foundation permitting re-use under the GFDL.
- Please note that Wikipedia cannot accept the text unless you release it for free distribution under the GFDL, a license that allows both commercial and non-commercial reuse. FreplySpang 10:48, 2 November 2006 (UTC)
- I am sorry that you find our policies difficult to work with. For the protection of copyright holders, we cannot simply accept someone's claim to be authorized to republish copyrighted material. You can prove that you are authorized by the actions I mentioned above. For more details, see our Copyright FAQ. FreplySpang 16:08, 2 November 2006 (UTC)
- I have deleted the article about Boolean Expressions for the same reason. Please do not post articles copied from other sources unless you can demonstrate that you are authorized to do so. FreplySpang 16:13, 2 November 2006 (UTC)
List of oceanographist, Osman El-Rayis
[edit]Please do not create empty Wikipedia articles. If you want to save drafts of an article before , you can use a subpage of your user space to do so. For example, you could save a draft to User:Elrayis/List of oceanographist.
Also, please do not remove tags like {{unsourced}} from articles unless you are also changing the article to address the concern. The article itself should provide reliable sources for its claims, and it should show how the subject is notable. We strongly discourage people from writing articles about themselves, because it is very difficult to be objective. Please see our policy on autobiography for more details. Your edit to Osman El-Rayis
[edit]Please do not remove Articles for deletion notices from articles or remove other people's comments in Articles for deletion pages. The notices and comments are needed to establish community consensus about the status of an article, and removing them is considered vandalism. If you oppose the deletion of an article, you may comment at the respective page instead. Thank you.

Copyright violations
[edit]Once again, I must remind you that Wikipedia does not accept articles copied from other websites without explicit permission. I have deleted the articles you posted about NARSS and University of Edinburgh School of Engineering and Education. We cannot simply accept your word that you have permission to republish this material. We take copyright seriously. If you will not comply with our procedures for protecting copyrights, we may have to revoke your editing privileges. FreplySpang 14:46, 6 November 2006 (UTC)
- Copyright does not apply to the facts or the information in an article, it applies to the wording. You cannot copy the words from another website into Wikipedia, but you can summarize or rewrite the information in your own words. If you do have permission from an organization to republish its website on Wikipedia, you can prove it by sending an email from an address associated with the organization to permissions at wikimedia dot org (replace the "at" and "dot" with the appropriate symbols). The email must say that you release the material under the GFDL. You must understand that the GFDL permits commercial and non-commerical reuse of the article outside Wikipedia. Orphaned fair use image (Image:Espacenet logo.gif)
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:Espacenet logo.gif. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you.
