Hi, I've noticed that the History section in Beijing Guoan F.C. is terribly (15 years) outdated. Would there be any interest to keep up with more current events about the club by adding more information? Thanks :) IDontHaveSkype (talk) 21:27, 6 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi! I’ve been very impressed with your discipline in editing and thank you for reading and catching the mistakes in whatever random stuff I throw on the page. Would love to work with you in this. I wouldn’t want to leave more personal information on wiki which is quite public for those who really intend on tracking it down, so if you know of a way we can establish communication outside of wiki without posting links to personal social media accounts on wiki, I think that can facilitate more timely communication. Thanks for reaching out! DatunEast (talk) 23:19, 6 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I feel like here is fine to brainstorm ideas or whatever but if you really need to talk about something in private I have the same username on Reddit. IDontHaveSkype (talk) 23:43, 6 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Firstly now that I think about it, it should probably be split to two sections since 2009, with a 2010-2019 or 2010-2020 section (金元足球), after that it's a new rebuild with Kim, Viera, Augusto, Bakambu gone so that'll probably take another section (COVID and post-COVID?). IDontHaveSkype (talk) 23:49, 6 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hahahahaha. I sometimes get flooded with other emails and those from Wiki chat page is not always the easiest to see. Might ping you on Reddit later. I know one should be cautious while talking to strangers on the Internet but I’ll be damned that someone who spends free time editing Wikipedia pages about fan-sponsored clubs in China is not someone worth at least talking to.
Anyways. I only really started watching in 2017/18. Happy to slowly fill in the later stuff, but the earlier stuff would require more research from me personally. DatunEast (talk) 00:10, 7 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Cool. Feel free to start writing here too (2017 onwards is fine with me personally, nothing major happened these seven years from what I can recall apart from almost winning the league in 2014 and a few managerial changes. Kanoute was a huge signing from what I've heard, and Zhang Xizhe really took off particularly before his loan to Wolfsburg). I'll see what I can find before and including 2016. IDontHaveSkype (talk) 00:22, 7 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
However many minutes without conceding a goal in the middle of 2015 from what I can recall is the longest in Chinese football history (don't take my word for it), I'll start looking for a source when I have the time. IDontHaveSkype (talk) 00:29, 7 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
If you have tips/sources, particularly ones in the English language that are reliable on Chinese football, I’d love to know them. Sources are hard to find and often a struggle with more “ancient” history. I struggle to find the full name of Brazilian players who played for Shenhua, which is why I’m still stuck on translating the Beijing-Shanghai Rivalry page. I feel like there has to be a few English resources that cover the 2016-2019 period, but I wasn't well-equipped with football media in English at the time (even today still). There's this person on Weibo who documents Shanghai football history, maybe try shooting them a message (if you can't find online databases that cover them) IDontHaveSkype (talk) 00:27, 7 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
