Stockman

[edit]

Nationality is not determined on place of birth, but rather citizenship. Stockman has chosen Australian as his nationality (born to Aussie parents on Oldham), he played for the Aussie at the world baseball classic (etc.) Many examples of likewise situations, Neil Kilkenny, Ireland cricket team, Bob Woolmer, millions of others. м info 21:35, 1 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

He is Australian. "The hard-throwing Australian made just four appearances for Atlanta, allowing one earned run and three hits in four innings. Posted an impressive 0.62 ERA in 24 Minor League appearances (three starts)." [2] from Braves websie. м info 21:37, 1 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,

I've changed the category on Jermaine Hardy his page from Category:NFL Europe players to his corresponding team page Category:Rhein Fire players and added the related info into his team box. The Category:NFL Europe players category holds the team categories and no players. The NFl Europe teams have pages similar to the NFL.

Miami Dolphins

[edit]

It needs a citation because it is an opinion; who is saying that the coaching staff is in flux? It is an opinion, so it either needs a citation or should be removed.--Thomas.macmillan 18:29, 9 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • It is an opinion. A fact is "Several coaches have left the organization since the end of 2006, including the head coach". An opinion is "The coaching staff and roster have already undergone significant changes, making the near future cloudy and uncertain". First off, significant is subjective. Instead of saying significant, quantify it, I.E. "25 new players have were signed during the off-season". Metaphors, like cloudy, generally are less than helpful as well. Be more precise with your language and cite a source or remove it.

NFL team logos on players pages.

[edit]

What's up. I really don't know if NFL logos on players pages are acceptable. I was just fooling around, but they do really look cool. I was just hoping that others would catch and perhaps change it for all active NFL players. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Guru Greek (talkcontribs) 00:57, 23 April 2007 (UTC).[reply]

Seeking community input re standardizing baseball roster pages

[edit]

Hi ... I'm leaving you this note because you recently made edits to one of the Major League Baseball roster pages. I've made a proposal for standardizing the format, structure and content of these pages here and would appreciate your input so that we may reach a consensus. Thanks. --Sanfranman59 06:08, 23 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Phil Stockman

[edit]

My bad ... I should have done some research before making this change. I was lazy and simply looked at his place of birth without reading his mlb.com bio. Thanks for correcting me. --Sanfranman59 16:53, 23 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Dolphins return men

[edit]

Wasn't Marty Booker & Marcus Vick the 2nd & 3rd kickreturners behind Wes Welker? I thought the reason why Shirdonya Mitchell & P.K. Sam were on the roster was their KR & PR duties, so why aren't they on the special team depth chart? Raul17 23:45, 25 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

RE:UR FA

[edit]

Are you referring to Ian Scott? I don't even know what an unrestricted free agent is, so I just added him on the team's depth chart as a free agent, after reading the ChicagoBears.com's latest article.[3] --  ShadowJester07  ►Talk  02:39, 26 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I don't even know who unrestricted free agency deals with general football information, given its practically jargon to the casual reader - a statement which often reiterated on NFL related peer-review pages. I do not see what's the point of making a bfd about something so small. In case you may have missed it, the header on Wikipedia's English page says, "Welcome to Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia that anyone can edit". Interests are interests, I do not see why someone should not be allowed to contribute to NFL-related articles because they're not a football expert. --  ShadowJester07  ►Talk  03:07, 26 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Well, I have enough common sense to avoid editing topics about Free Agency. I only edit biographies, since I could verify my claims with references. ;-) Oh yes, thanks for updating the Chicago Bears roster template. It was gracious of you. :-p--  ShadowJester07  ►Talk  03:24, 26 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Well, I did not understand the different kinds of free agents at time, sorry. --  ShadowJester07  ►Talk  03:56, 26 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Miami Dolphins Depth Chart

[edit]

I will agree that it is early to make up a depth chart for the returnmen, but by the same token, the linebackers are in the same state of uncertainty. Outside of Porter, Thomas and Crowder, it is wide open like the Dolphins kickreturners. Pope has played all three LB positions, the rest except McCune & Spragan are relatively unknown in terms of playing positions. Gbaja-Biamila might back-up Taylor at the Open End position.

I rather have Rosenthal at LT than Alabi because his experience as a starter. Shelton might play at the position because he has played. At RB, I would have had Chatman ahead of Cobbs because of experience. R.Wright would have been ahead of Vickerson because the latter wasn't tendered as ERFA.

I put J.Allen at corner because one of my sources believes that he will take more reps there than at safety because there is a feeling that his best position. And until training camp opens.... Raul17 21:49, 26 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • You mean Zach isn't starting nor Crowder?! My source happens to work for the Marlins and was hanging out at the mini camp. By the way, I like being amateure. Thank you very much. And you agree with me, this depth chart is not official is just there. Until training starts, everything is just speculation. And why are you still hating on P.K.??? Raul17 23:17, 26 April 2007 (UTC) ( ^ v ^ )[reply]
    • ( ^ v ^ ) suppose to mean being jovial or happy. The Sam comment was an attempt to bring you back down the earth. When Sam was re-signed to the practice squad and then signed a contract, you delected him because you was not aware. ( O v - ) Last season, at KR were Welker & Booker then Minor & Vick(?). At PR, after Welker, I can't recall who the backups were other than Vick. I don't think am trying to be "cool" or "in" be using common sense that it stands to reason that those players that were returning last year are likely to this season. Hence, Booker & Vick at KR. On the roster, I think there's only one guy who actually had PR duties in the NFL: Hakim. I thought it was publicly known that Mitchell was signed because of his return skills in college and that was why he was kept eventhough he blew out his knee. And Sam was signed to the PS as insurance to Welker. ( 0 - 0 ) Raul17 11:26, 27 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I am pleased with your progress! ( ^ v ^ )

Re: Roster Templates and ERFAs

[edit]

Sounds great. With the draft and everything after it, I won't have too much time to work on the templates. My main priority right now is on the 2005 Pats season page as well as upgrading the Pats' player (and new draftees) pages. Pats1 00:12, 27 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The "Poll" was 10-7. In my opinion this issue is far from settled and took place recently, as you mention. Had I and four friends voted, it would be 11-10.

Re: Team Colors

I just used the eyedropper from one of Chris Creamer's or Wikipedia's logos and got the hex #. I agree with the Bills and some others who have dark colors - I just posted in the NFL project talk page as well about that. Pats1 00:13, 28 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Also, for future roster templates, and can just pick them up from the code on a coach/team template. Pats1 00:14, 28 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Rosters

[edit]

No offense, because this is supposed to be a community-oriented thing, but there's reason for you to be reverting edits just because you don't agree with them. No consensus was reached on how to properly list players in a roster, therefore you shouldn't be reverting someone else's edits. Wlmaltby3talk/contribs 06:18, 28 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Isn't that comparing Ginn to Moss?

Why did you switch Carey to LT? You conviced me with Alabi being there (he played there in college), but now you have him starting at RT where Rosenthall played and has started? Did this occur at mini-camp? Raul17 09:22, 29 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Rosters

[edit]

Once again I have no idea why you keep changing rosters around when, A) there hasn't been any consensus as to how to list the players and, B) you're listing the players the way YOU want them to be listed, which isn't fair to ANYONE else and, C) you deleted all my notations on the Browns' roster (i.e. OT/G, etc.) for no reason at all. You're not following one of the major guidelines of Wikipedia, which is to assume good faith. This is becoming very annoying if you ask me, and clearly a lot of other people are agreeing with me. Wlmaltby3talk/contribs 17:57, 29 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

That really wasn't my point, because Wikipedia encourages organization. But you're reverting other people's edits for absolutely no reason at all other than their edits aren't what you want them to be, which is against Wikipedia policy. Wlmaltby3talk/contribs 18:01, 29 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
So you mean to tell me that you removed all my notations (which took me about a half hour to figure out in the first place) because they weren't on the other rosters? Isn't that pretentious? Whatever. You do what you want, since apparently you're the boss of how all the NFL articles should be. Have fun with it. Wlmaltby3talk/contribs 18:08, 29 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
It doesn't have anything to do with consensus right now. Since all the rosters are the same (as in the way you think they should be) I decided to just go with it and note where players played at next to their names (which would be what we do if your way passes) and yet you still removed all the notations, and I had no idea why you did that. Wlmaltby3talk/contribs 01:34, 30 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I had changed the roster to include secondary positions (i.e. Hank Fraley playing guard as well as center, noting with a G next to his name) and you changed it, you removed all the notations. Wlmaltby3talk/contribs 01:36, 30 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
So... why? That's how we're going to be doing the rosters if your way passes as consensus... Wlmaltby3talk/contribs 01:40, 30 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
You're a pretty stubborn dude. It'll be fun working on this upcoming season with you. Wlmaltby3talk/contribs 01:43, 30 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
What do you say to listing all drafted players under Drafted? They haven't signed contracts yet, after all... Just a suggestion I thought of earlier. Wlmaltby3talk/contribs 01:46, 30 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Right on. On a side note, I want to apologize for being hot-headed. I just really want a consensus reached so we don't have problems like this in the future. It'll save a lot of headaches. :) Wlmaltby3talk/contribs 01:49, 30 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
You're right. I'd never really considered that before because that's how the rosters always were, at least up until the past couple weeks. Wlmaltby3talk/contribs 01:54, 30 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Eagles Roster Template...

[edit]

"I had already added Paschal, he is a a free safety. Please look a little harder before making edits like that"

We were making the edits at the same time for the undrafted free agents. Please look a little harder before making comments like that.

Paschal is a SS according to multiple sources: http://www.fftoolbox.com/nfl_draft/profile_display.cfm?Prospect_ID=522 http://scout.scout.com/a.z?s=71&p=8&c=1&nid=2686114

This also speaks to the discussion that was going on, on the NFL project page. This new template that you enacted (with no real consensus) is a little to specific for some players. Some guys are just listed as "S" by their team. For instance, the Eagles (which should be the official source on their own player's positions, list Erik Harris, Quniton Mikell, etc as just "S"... Bjewiki 18:42, 30 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Half the articles I look at on Pascal list him as a SS, half of them list him as a FS. Eagles list him as a S. What makes you the "ultimate" authority to decide? This is just pointing out the problem with the new proposed template. Bjewiki 20:33, 30 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Jim Johnson (Eagles DC) came out in the paper, and said Takeo Spikes (off-season addition) is the eagles Weak-side lineback, trotter is starting in the middle, and Chris Gocong is the starting Strong-side LB. JJ siad Gaither will play the "nickle" LB position, basically taking over for Trotter on passing downs. The eagles official website depth chart has been updated with this Spikes-Trotter-Gocong arrangement. Bjewiki 20:41, 30 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
