Hi mate. You (correctly, IMHO) closed this Afd, but you didn't remove the AfD header from the article in question. Wannna do it? (Would do it myself, but not 100% of the correct thing to do). Cheers! — sparklism hey! 12:45, 29 May 2012 (UTC)

Hythe Town F.C.
[edit]I note your restoration of the team members at Hythe Town F.C.. This seems wholly at odds with WP:NLIST - its lack of compliance with these policies was my reason for the extirpation. Can you please clarify why you believe the non-notable team members should be included despite these guidelines? I note also your edit summaries wherin you make comparisons with members of a band included in an article about a band. The difference is that for a notable band, there will almost inevitably exist reliable sources that give the names of the members. This doesn't follow inevitably of course as notability is not inherited and would not, for example, apply to an established orchestra. For inclusion of squad members of a football club would require that they be listed in a reputable and reliable source. If you have such a source, great, please quote it. If not inclusion of names is in conflict with guidelines. Thanks Velella Velella Talk 08:30, 11 June 2012 (UTC)
WP Football in the Signpost
[edit]The WikiProject Report would like to focus on WikiProject Football for a Signpost article. If so, here are the questions for the interview. Just add your response below each question and feel free to skip any questions that you don't feel comfortable answering. Multiple editors will have an opportunity to respond to the interview questions, so be sure to sign your answers. portrait of duncan edwards
[edit]Hi I am the artist Philip Guest who was commissioned By Dudley MBC in 2010 to paint a portrait of Duncan Edwards for there Museum and Art gallery. The painting was required because the Museum did not own a Colour picture of Duncan. Many people have seen the Picture over the last few years included Bobby Charlton. If there is any problem you have with this information perhaps you can help. The idea of the Museum and I was to add the painting to the page. As you can see I am new to Wikipedia.Perhaps you can help.(Guest456} — Preceding unsigned comment added by Guest456 (talk • contribs) 19:18, 16 November 2012 (UTC) Hi Chris thanks for your help so far. Main page appearance: Blackburn Olympic F.C.
[edit]This is a note to let the main editors of Blackburn Olympic F.C. know that the article will be appearing as today's featured article on December 22, 2012. You can view the TFA blurb at Wikipedia:Today's featured article/December 22, 2012. If you prefer that the article appear as TFA on a different date, or not at all, please ask featured article director Raul654 (talk · contribs) or his delegates Dabomb87 (talk · contribs), Gimmetoo (talk · contribs), and Bencherlite (talk · contribs), or start a discussion at Wikipedia talk:Today's featured article/requests. If the previous blurb needs tweaking, you might change it—following the instructions at Wikipedia:Today's featured article/requests/instructions. If this article needs any attention or maintenance, it would be preferable if that could be done before its appearance on the Main Page. The blurb as it stands now is below:
Blackburn Olympic F.C. was an English association football club based in Blackburn, Lancashire. Although the club was only in existence from 1878 to 1889, it is significant in the history of football in England as the first club from the north of the country and the first from a working-class background to win the country's leading competition, the Football Association Challenge Cup (FA Cup) (trophy pictured). The cup had previously been won only by teams of wealthy amateurs from the Home counties, and Olympic's victory marked a turning point in the sport's transition from a pastime for upper-class gentlemen to a professional sport. The victory was a significant factor in the decision by the sport's governing body, The Football Association, to allow professionalism. Olympic, however, proved unable to compete with wealthier and better-supported clubs in the professional era. Most of Olympic's home matches took place at the Hole-i'-th-Wall stadium, named after an adjacent public house. One Olympic player, James Ward, was selected for the England team and six other former or future England internationals played for the club, including Jack Hunter, who was the club's coach at the time of Olympic's FA Cup win.
