Your draft article

[edit]

Hi Ccvid. It looks to me - at a cursory glance - that the content at User:Ccvid/sandbox is just about ready to be moved to article space, to "go live", as it were. There are a few tweaks that might be best performed whilst it's still in your sandbox (fixing the refs to make them clearer, tiding up the one or two still-slightly-POV sentences that remain, adding wikilinks and a few minor formatting issues); would you like me to sort these out for you and then move the page into mainspace? Yunshui, Your help would be awesome. I plan to add more in the coming weeks including a discography of his solo records. But your tweaks and publishing would be wonderful. Thanks so much for the help! 66.194.224.208 (talk) 02:29, 24 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, this completely slipped under my radar - I was scrolling down through my talkpage just now when I saw our conversation there and remembered. Not much left to do - your last edit added a lot of information (which I assume is verified in the Google references that have been added) but since none of the references are cited inline, it's hard to see which reference verifies which statement. What you need to do is convert all the references to citations. I'll do the first one for you in your sandbox, so you can see what it looks like. The process is as follows:
  1. Open the page to edit, as you normally would.
  2. Starting with the first reference (which is the Hot Hits book), find a line in the text which it verifies (I'm going to use the second sentence, with its list of groups McSpadden was involved in).
  3. Copy the reference URL into the article text immediately after the sentence you want to verify (after the full stop).
  4. Immediately before the URL, write <ref> (including the < and > signs). Immediately after it, write </ref> (note the /).
  5. At the bottom of the page, under the References header, write {{Reflist}} (I'll do this for you, and it only needs to be done once, so you can skip this step.
  6. Delete the (now duplicate) URL under the References header.
  7. Repeat with all other references.
This diff shows you exactly what I did.
Once you've done this, it would be a good idea to expand the references from bare URLs to actual citations - the easy way to do this is to use the reflinks tool. Click on that link, enter "User:Ccvid/sandbox" in the Page title or URL field, and hit "Run reflinks" (give it a few seconds, it's a big task!). Scroll to the bottom of the screen, hit "Show Preview", then "Save Page". Most if not all of your references will now be expanded and correctly formatted, saving you the trouble of doing it manually.
Let me know on my talkpage once you've done that, and I'll give it a once-over and bump it into article space. Yunshui  22:55, 5 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
