Request undelete of: James Satloff

Hi - this is our first time checking out Wikipedia. The subject of the captioned article sits on our board of directors, and we were trying to add in this fact to all of our board members, with appropriate news citations. It would be helpful to us if you would undelete this article. Had we seen the PROD tag (again, this is the first time we are attempting to add in content to Wikipedia, so it's new to us) we would have asked at that time.

Thanks for all the hard work you do for Wikipedia - it's impressive!

Best regards

Aaliyah Discography

Can you help on Aaliyah discography with this user reverting my edits? I only add the sales from BMG club, with a reliable source. The user Mulaj acts like he owns Aaliyah's articles. 88marcus did help me but now Mulaj is reverting and insulting me.--PassenzaT (talk) 05:05, 18 January 2017 (UTC)

Deletion discussion about Aurora Helicopters

Hello, CambridgeBayWeather,

I wanted to let you know that there's a discussion about whether Aurora Helicopters should be deleted. Your comments are welcome at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Aurora Helicopters .

If you're new to the process, articles for deletion is a group discussion (not a vote!) that usually lasts seven days. If you need it, there is a guide on how to contribute. Last but not least, you are highly encouraged to continue improving the article; just be sure not to remove the tag about the deletion nomination from the top.

Thanks,

Tymon.r Do you have any questions? 21:55, 19 January 2017 (UTC)

Onam

Hope these two edits [1] will give you some idea about the word Hindu and how it is wrongly used by so many ignorant people. Hindu is a Persian word. One has to look at how and when this non-Indian word was used for the first time in various regions of modern-day India. In the article Onam, the use of the word Hindu in historical context is terribly wrong and misplaced. Onam is a very ancient rice harvest festival, it is not a religious festival, but some people try to hijack it and want to project it as their own religious festival and even use Wikipedia to achieve their goal.42.109.203.204 (talk) 08:36, 21 January 2017 (UTC)

Sorry but you are in the wrong place. You want Talk:Onam. Cheers. CambridgeBayWeather, Uqaqtuq (talk), Sunasuttuq 08:53, 21 January 2017 (UTC)

Deletion discussion about Simply Gluten Free Magazine

Hi there, This page I was working on was deleted: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Draft:Simply_Gluten_Free_Magazine&action=edit&redlink=1 I had posted a question and a request for some assitance on the last reviewer's page, SwisterTwister (or at least I thought I did, but can't seem to find where the post is now) and I was waiting on a response but never got one and anyway, I just noticed the page was deleted. I was trying to get some issues resolved with the sources, so if you could undelete the page and let me work on it some more that would be great. Thank you! Appealing deletion of Credible draft AfC

Hello CambridgeBayWeather. I am contacting you as the administrator who deleted the draft AfC on Credible[1]. I will be requesting a deletion review, and am contacting you first, as instructed. I will be appealing that "significant new information has come to light" and that this page was "wrongly deleted with no way to tell what exactly was deleted," and that there were "substantial procedural errors in the deletion discussion."

The editor who nominated the article for deletion, SwisterTwister[2], and the reviewer who rejected the article on Dec. 17, Zppix[3], were unresponsive to requests for specifics after substantial edits had been made to the article at the direction of previous reviewers.[4] [5]

I am wondering why SwisterTwister felt it was worth the time and effort to help improve the article "Hoss's Steak and Sea House" [6]but could not provide helpful input to the draft article on Credible or at least notify me that it had been nominated for deletion.

The article on Credible was extensively sourced, citing media reports from The New York Times, U.S. News & Word Report, CNBC, CNN Money, The Wall Street Journal and NBC Nightly News [7].

Most recently, on Jan. 18 Bloomberg reported that Credible has raised $10 million in additional funding and "participates in just under $1 billion in lending a year, including new student loans, refinancings and personal loans." [8]

This is a legitimate article about a commercial entity, written in a neutral tone. There are no opinions expressed in this article, and it is written in a tone that "neither sympathizes with nor disparages its subject." [9]

Wikipedia editors are instructed that "a differentiation should be made between spam articles and legitimate articles about commercial entities." [10]

I am concerned that Wikipedia readers are being denied access to important information because Wikipedia editors are being overzealous in pursuing the admirable goal of keeping the site free of spam. 162.245.21.61 (talk) 20:39, 23 January 2017 (UTC)

Restored to Draft:Credible. Cheers. CambridgeBayWeather, Uqaqtuq (talk), Sunasuttuq 23:37, 23 January 2017 (UTC)
Thank you CambridgeBayWeather, appreciate the opportunity to update and resubmit the article. 162.245.21.61 (talk) 01:39, 24 January 2017 (UTC)

@Mlpearc: This is a tempest in a teapot if I have ever seen one! I have no intention of waging a war over such a minor issue, and I have no intention of going to the trouble of opening a discussion over a minor vocabulary change. I know what "hardier" means and I suppose that is all that matters. It is disconcerting that you make me out to be some contentious psychopath who is going to put his opinions before the project, especially since you are the one who undid my edit, which did absolutely no harm to the article, perhaps even improving it! Without personal opinions having at least some part, how could Wikipedia ever improve? Don't ever accuse me of being disruptive again. (Sorry about placing this stern, yet perfectly licit defense of my edit on your talk page; I wanted to make sure that I was replying to particular comments made by Mlpearc. There is no need to "protect" any article from me. God bless you!) ☧Catholic Laitinen☧ (talk) 09:27, 28 January 2017 (UTC)

Andrew Boggis

Hi CambridgeBayWeather. I've only just noticed that on 14 November 2015 you deleted the page Andrew Boggis with the comment "Expired PROD, concern was: does not appear to meet WP:ACADEMIC."

A note on my talk page would have been welcome. I can remember nothing at all about Boggis or why I created the page, but I must have believed he met the GNG, and I'm not sure he's an academic. WP:ACADEMIC says this: "This guideline is independent from the other subject-specific notability guidelines, such as WP:BIO, WP:MUSIC, WP:AUTH etc. and is explicitly listed as an alternative to the General Notability Guideline. It is possible for an academic not to be notable under the provisions of this guideline but to be notable in some other way under one of the other subject-specific notability guidelines. Conversely, if an academic is notable under this guideline, his or her failure to meet either the General Notability Guideline or other subject-specific notability guidelines is irrelevant."

Would you mind reinstating the page and starting an AfD? Moonraker (talk) 19:16, 29 January 2017 (UTC)

Moonraker. No problem. Restored now and PROD removed. You would need to as Risker as to why you didn't get a notification. I won't start an AfD. Cheers. CambridgeBayWeather, Uqaqtuq (talk), Sunasuttuq 19:24, 29 January 2017 (UTC)

Thanks, CambridgeBayWeather. Now that I can see the article, I vaguely remember it. This chap isn't an academic, he's a notable figure in the world of secondary education. If anyone did start an AfD I'd be able to defend it. Moonraker (talk) 22:06, 1 February 2017 (UTC)

Deletion close

Hey, I was just wondering if you could add some clarification to your stance at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Israel at the FIBA Basketball World Cup which you closed. Obviously its not about the vote, its about the argument made. Quiet a number of people suggested that would should happen is the individual years should be deleted and merge them into the main tournament. Additionally a lot of the people votes based on WP:NOTSTATS, however I think that its clear whoever voted that way did not take the time to look through the exhaustive list that is impossible to group together. For example, if you look at Israel at the 2017 World Baseball Classic you will see there was a ton more than just stats there, all of which would now be lost, based on a nomination that could not realistic be grouped together. Can you perhaps take a closer look into this, since a lot of legitimate pages were also deleted, that probably shouldn't have been. Another example, with Israel at the FIFA World Cup being deleted here, they are now the only country ever to compete in the world cup not to have a dedicated page. Thanks - GalatzTalk 00:17, 30 January 2017 (UTC)

Galatz do you have a full list of the ones that you think should have been merged? CambridgeBayWeather, Uqaqtuq (talk), Sunasuttuq 17:52, 30 January 2017 (UTC)
Unfortunately because of the exhaustive list, it would take a while to put together an exact list, but as an example
Also based on those criteria, ones that didn't have separate years, such as Israel at the UEFA European Championship and Israel at the UEFA Women's Championship would have survived.
If you would be willing to reconsider I would be happy put together a comprehensive list for you. Thanks - GalatzTalk 18:07, 30 January 2017 (UTC)
If you give me a list I can restore the ones you need. Move them to your user space so you can merge the material and then move back to mainspace as redirects. CambridgeBayWeather, Uqaqtuq (talk), Sunasuttuq 18:15, 30 January 2017 (UTC)
Thanks, the ones that I would say should be restored, that would survive would be Israel at the UEFA European Championship, Israel at the UEFA Women's Championship, Israel at the EuroBasket, Israel at the EuroBasket Women, Israel at the FIFA World Cup, Israel at the FIFA Women's World Cup, Israel at the European Championship of American football, Israel at the European Lacrosse Championships, Israel at the Women's European Lacrosse Championships, Israel at the World Lacrosse Championships, Israel at the Women's Lacrosse World Cup, Israel at the IIHF World Championship.
The ones that don't have content anywhere else on WP, that it would be helpful if you could restore and I will merge the content into the main article from would be Israel at the 2012 European Lacrosse Championships, Israel at the 2016 European Lacrosse Championships, Israel at the 2016 European Baseball Championship, Israel at the 2012 European Baseball Championship, Israel at the 2010 European Baseball Championship, Israel at the 2013 World Baseball Classic, Israel at the 2017 World Baseball Classic. I will then redirect them after merging the content, or I could let you know and you can delete them again. Thanks - GalatzTalk 21:04, 30 January 2017 (UTC)
Israel at the FIFA Women's World Cup should not be created for now. The country has never qualified for the event. Sportsfan 1234 (talk) 04:00, 31 January 2017 (UTC)

I have restored the second group (User:Galatz/Israel at the 2012 European Lacrosse Championships, User:Galatz/Israel at the 2016 European Lacrosse Championships, User:Galatz/Israel at the 2016 European Baseball Championship, User:Galatz/Israel at the 2012 European Baseball Championship, User:Galatz/Israel at the 2010 European Baseball Championship, User:Galatz/Israel at the 2013 World Baseball Classic, User:Galatz/Israel at the 2017 World Baseball Classic) but the first will require a discussion. Disruptive editing

Hi there, You semi-protected a page earlier today David Davies (Welsh politician) after several paragraphs kept being deleted by another editor. When protection was applied, these deleted paragraphs were not restored. Is the problem with the paragraphs themselves or was this a mistake? RightSaidFred (talk) 19:57, 31 January 2017 (UTC)

RightSaidFred. I just protect and don't take a side in what the problem (or lack of one0 is. If I take a side then I'm involved and can't protect. On the other hand doing this, which is vandalism, and then protecting isn't a problem. CambridgeBayWeather, Uqaqtuq (talk), Sunasuttuq 22:02, 31 January 2017 (UTC)
@RightSaidFred: It's a well-known fact that the wrong version is always the one that gets protected. That aside, when protecting a page, admins aren't obliged to choose which version to favour, except in cases like WP:BLP violations. --Redrose64 🌹 (talk) 23:26, 31 January 2017 (UTC)

Question about IP harassment

I have a quick question. The editor who has been repeatedly vandalizing List of Adventure Time episodes and Adventure Time (season 9) has now taken to personally insulting/attacking me (example). What should I do in a situation like this? It doesn't bother me, but I'd like it to stop.--Gen. Quon (Talk) 14:13, 2 February 2017 (UTC)

Gen. Quon. The individual IP can be blocked. Do they change IPs often? CambridgeBayWeather, Uqaqtuq (talk), Sunasuttuq 17:13, 2 February 2017 (UTC)
I don't think so. From what I can tell, they're only using one IP address.--Gen. Quon (Talk) 19:42, 2 February 2017 (UTC)
Gen. Quon. I've warned them about attacks. CambridgeBayWeather, Uqaqtuq (talk), Sunasuttuq 20:49, 2 February 2017 (UTC)

David Malpass

Below was deleted by Swizzer (Jan 2) and replaced by Balloni. Please review back to November 2016 to see activity. All public policy views are well supported in Malpass' works/writings. It is always easy to take one or two passages out of hundreds in a body of work and mislead. Many thanks, AV

Economic and public policy view Government waste As a columnist, Malpass has been a critic of government spending and taxation levels in the United States. In 2010, following the passage of the Affordable Care Act, he referred to Washington’s legislative and regulatory culture as being “possessed” by a tax-and-spend disposition.[12] Later that year he warned that Washington’s ongoing expansion threatened to bring about “a fundamental deterioration in America’s private sector"; in his view: “[Small businesses] are the nation’s critical engine for growth, innovation and job creation, yet they are being starved for credit and slammed with more taxes, government directives and litigation exposure.”[13]

Political Upheaval Malpass advocated political upheaval after the Republicans won control of the House in November 2010: “With the election over, the nation’s anger at Washington’s gluttony and corruption must now channel itself into practical solutions. The election made clear that the people want a political upheaval aimed at fiscal sanity, responsible regulations and a reduction in federal power. In its first days the new Congress has to act on the understanding that this is a takeover, an upheaval of the old spending culture.”[14]

Federal Debt Limit In 2012, he proposed a political and legislative plan to rewrite the debt limit in order to restrain federal spending: “The U.S. has a law on the books called the debt limit, but the name is misleading. The debt limit started in 1917 for the purpose of facilitating more national debt, not reducing it. It still serves that purpose… Replace the debt limit with an operational ceiling on the debt-to-GDP ratio. It should be forced onto a downward glide path to below 50%. The new debt limit should penalize Washington enough to make it do its job. If the debt ratio goes over the glide path, cut salaries each month for upper-income federal employees, including the President, Congress and senior officials. Make it very public that they are paid to control spending.”[15]

IMF Austerity Programs He has criticized the IMF’s austerity programs for lowering median incomes in numerous countries including South Africa, Argentina, Brazil, Mexico, Thailand, Malaysia, Greece and Portugal. “In the private-sector version of austerity, governments impose new taxes and mandates on the private sector while maintaining their own personnel, salaries and pensions. That's the antigrowth version of austerity prevalent in Europe's austerity programs.”[16]

Government and Income Inequality In 2014, he argued that big government drives income inequality and that a reduction in centralized federal power would increase median incomes, stating: “Big government expansions in recent years have harmed individuals with modest incomes while exempting or benefiting people with higher incomes.”[17]

Quantitative Easing He criticized the Federal Reserve’s quantitative easing program for slowing growth, mis-allocating credit to large bond issuers and worsening income inequality. Malpass views QE though a post-monetarist framework, and advocates a strong and stable dollar policy. “Washington thrives on the impression that the economy and markets are dependent on the Federal Reserve and deficit spending. The Fed's low rates and bond purchases damaged markets, hurt savers and channeled credit to the government at the expense of job creators.”[18] — Preceding unsigned comment added by AureliusVerus (talkcontribs) 02:41, 8 February 2017 (UTC)

AureliusVerus. Please use section headers, sign your posts and let me know which article you are talking about. Anyway I am not restoring anyrhing. You need to go to Talk:David Malpass and discuss it there. CambridgeBayWeather, Uqaqtuq (talk), Sunasuttuq 02:58, 8 February 2017 (UTC)
Hello CambridgeBayWeather. Though I have no objection to your full protection of David Malpass, a glance at the RFPP filing suggests to me that this page could actually be a candidate for Extended Confirmed for a few months. If you check the history there are a large number of red-linked user names that have only 10-50 edits. Unless these new users are extremely well-behaved (a thing that I don't observe) you might keep in mind the possibility of an external campaign to slant the article. The topic of this article falls under WP:ARBAP2. Thanks, EdJohnston (talk) 04:07, 8 February 2017 (UTC)
EdJohnston. I've changed it now. For a change I didn't see the request at WP:RFPP. Cheers. CambridgeBayWeather, Uqaqtuq (talk), Sunasuttuq 05:00, 8 February 2017 (UTC)
I was about to post here, and then saw you had changed the protection. Thanks to both of you for your involvement. I think this will help force the conversation to the talk page and hopefully a consensus can be established now since we now have three established editors who have commented there. TonyBallioni (talk) 05:06, 8 February 2017 (UTC)

Mind taking a look at the closure of Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/User:Jsjskssk? Firstly, the closer !voted before they closed the discussion, making it an involved closure. Secondly, none of the early closure criteria are seemingly applicable. Thirdly, I don't see any forum shopping; I think the closer is referring to their own removal of a speedy deletion request from the page, which is not forum shopping. I can ask them to revert their closure and proceed based on their response; alternatively, non-administrator closures may be reopened by an uninvolved administrator in their individual capacity giving their reasoning. — Godsy (TALKCONT) 02:49, 9 February 2017 (UTC)

Godsy. Probably not the best thing in the world but the editor was just registered and tagging the page was a bit bitey. I'd be tempted to leave it. CambridgeBayWeather, Uqaqtuq (talk), Sunasuttuq 17:37, 9 February 2017 (UTC)

Theresa Flores authorized editing

Thank you very much for protecting the Theresa Flores page. I do media and internet presence for her, and we have been fighting with a troll for a very long time, as you can see from the edit history. Would it be possible for me to get edit authorization for that page? There are still a few things I'd like to correct in the "Criticisms" section. Here they are, for reference, in case you would rather do it yourself:

1. Remove first sentence. "Leon" is Theresa's married name, so there is nothing wrong with her operating businesses under this "alias". :) She still goes by Flores in public though, because it's how most people know her. 2. The Secretary of State of Ohio did not "seize" TraffickFree. Rather, it was intentionally dissolved and remade because of her name change, and a change in the way she wanted to deal with ownership and taxes in her business after her marriage. 3. The final sentence, regarding SOAP accepting donations, was accurate for a few months in 2015. However, Theresa paid taxes on donations she received up until SOAP became an official Ohio and federal nonprofit in 2016, and so it seems misleading to make a comment about it on the Wikipedia page. Also, S.O.A.P. is not a "supposed" organization. It is a legitimate organization, and registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit. If you're uncomfortable removing the sentence altogether, we would appreciate at least softening the libelous tone of the sentence.

Thanks again very much! It's good to know there are admins out there who are watching out for the little guys like Theresa and her work. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jake.hoffer (talkcontribs) 16:23, 12 February 2017 (UTC)

Theresa Flores COI

Thanks for the links to the Conflict of Interest pages. I'm new to the Wikipedia community, but I have great respect for the neutrality it seeks to maintain. Also I couldn't figure out how to reply to your reply, so I'm posting again. Sorry to bother you.

Could you help me understand what would be an appropriate approach for me (a volunteer in Theresa's organization) in this situation? Initially I had corrected her page a few days ago after reading on the COI guidelines: "An exception to editing an article about yourself or someone you know is made if the article contains defamation or a serious error that needs to be corrected quickly." Perhaps that was hasty of me, and I apologize. I won't do it again. On the other hand, even the information that remans is in two cases misleading and in the third case blatantly false (as I wrote to you about before).

Is it appropriate for me to request an edit by you to remove/restructure the false information remaining in the criticisms section, or is my best bet to let it be and hope nobody believes it? Thanks for your guidance, and I hope I'm not overstepping by asking you this (I don't know the Wiki etiquette yet). — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jake.hoffer (talkcontribs) 16:52, 12 February 2017 (UTC)

Jake.hoffer. The best thing would be to post at Talk:Theresa Flores. Then editors who know more about it can comment. By the way there it isn't necessary to start a new section. You can keep using the same one. CambridgeBayWeather, Uqaqtuq (talk), Sunasuttuq 17:03, 12 February 2017 (UTC)

Request to reduce or remove protection template at WrestleMania 33

The page is currently fully protected and it ends on February 20. The page did not need this level of protection, especially when this is an upcoming event that has information updated on a weekly basis. We currently cannot edit the page due to this, which is a hindrance on trying to progress the article. It was requested to be protected due to a content dispute. The editor who requested the page protection claimed that there was no participation on the talk page. The request was made exactly one minute after I posted on the talk page; I cannot speak for the others who were previously involved in the dispute prior to the request. The editor also claimed that we were removing verifiable sources. The sources, although reliable, did not verify the information that the editor claimed. They essentially teased the possibility of a particular match happening at the event, but did not confirm it, which was the whole issue. --JDC808 18:40, 13 February 2017 (UTC)

JDC808. Can you show where the consensus is? I did read before protecting and people still seem to be disagreeing about the issue. CambridgeBayWeather, Uqaqtuq (talk), Sunasuttuq 04:07, 14 February 2017 (UTC)
I can't say if consensus on that one particular issue has been reached as neither editor who wanted the information added have commented further on the talk page. It was essentially two editors for adding the info, two editors (including myself) against it, but one of the two who were for it is now retired from Wikipedia, so I don't know if we'll hear from him again. My main issue with the protection template is that we can't edit other areas of the article. --JDC808 04:22, 14 February 2017 (UTC)

A Little Guidance Please

Hi Would like to inform that there is a missing film for Bill Goldberg . The film is "Checkpoint" (2017). Unfortunately, the page is locked (by you) and no further edits can be made. I am new to WIki (back-end parts) and I wasn't sure how or who to go to for fixing an error/missing info on a locked page. Thanks! P.S. Sorry if this may annoy you. Again, I am learning. Good day! Disruptive editing review

Hello CambridgeBayWeather. How can I make wiki admins to review disruptive editing by another user? Boaqua (talk) 21:23, 20 February 2017 (UTC)

Advice on my draft?

Hi CambridgeBayWeather, I hope I'm doing this right. My draft Draft:Cloud28+ was rejected in January. I rewrote it and resubmitted it a couple of weeks ago, but the reviewer did not review it; instead they marked it for deletion. The decision was keep, but I'm not sure what to do next. My latest submission has not been reviewed. Any advice? Thanks Holynightfever (talk) 21:41, 20 February 2017 (UTC)

Hi Holynightfever! The next step is for you to improve the draft and the suggestions on how to do so are in the previous rejections. Hope this helps? --Rosiestep (talk) 17:44, 24 February 2017 (UTC)
Hi Rosiestep, thanks for the reply. I have made significant improvements to the article and submitted them previously, but they were not reviewed and I did not receive any feedback. To re-phrase my question, I want to know if I should re-submit. Holynightfever (talk) 11:53, 28 February 2017 (UTC)

IP disruption resumed

Hi CambridgeBayWeather. How's the permafrost holding up? Last month, you protected for a week, and now a similar IP is back at it. Could you please either protect again for a longer term or, even better, do a range block if it's feasible? RivertorchFIREWATER 13:40, 23 February 2017 (UTC)

Hi Rivertorch, CambridgeBayWeather is away from his computer for a little bit, and I'm not comfortable with performing a protect or range block request. Can this wait, or do you think I should ask another admin to get involved? Thanks, --Rosiestep (talk) 17:48, 24 February 2017 (UTC)
Rosiestep: Thanks for replying. The edits in question are highly disruptive and certainly warrant extended-confirmed or semi. If they resume, I'll ask at RPP. It just occurred to me that the IP range involved seemed fairly narrow, so I thought a range block might be a better bet. (I'm not terribly knowledgeable about IP ranges, so I can't say for sure.) CambridgeBayWeather: hope you're better soon. RivertorchFIREWATER 06:34, 25 February 2017 (UTC)

Guideline and policy news

Technical news

  • A recent query shows that only 16% of administrators on the English Wikipedia have enabled two-factor authentication. If you haven't already enabled it please consider doing so.
  • Cookie blocks should be deployed to the English Wikipedia soon. This will extend the current autoblock system by setting a cookie for each block, which will then autoblock the user after they switch accounts under a new IP.
  • A bot will now automatically place a protection template on protected pages when admins forget to do so.

Roger Ebert

Please reduce the protection level on User talk:Rebert. The guideline you cited says it should be editable (semi-protection would be appropriate, given Ebert's public profile). Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 23:57, 6 March 2017 (UTC)

Pigsonthewing. Done. Not sure why I fully protected in the first place. CambridgeBayWeather, Uqaqtuq (talk), Sunasuttuq 13:35, 7 March 2017 (UTC)

I was told you know how to add a weather box to an article. If you are able to lend a hand at Duncans Mills, California, or could direct me to another editor, I'd appreciate it. Thanks. Magnolia677 (talk) 23:19, 10 March 2017 (UTC)

Magnolia677. I put one in based on the data already in the article. Unfortunately the source in the article, http://www.weather.com/search/partner?Keywords=DUncans+Mills+weather+averages, does not give any information. There might be some information at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration but I haven't found it yet. CambridgeBayWeather, Uqaqtuq (talk), Sunasuttuq 00:14, 11 March 2017 (UTC)
Much appreciated! Weather boxes are very tricky. I found some excellent historic photos of Sonoma County, California, and have been cleaning up many articles as I add the photos. Cheers. Magnolia677 (talk) 00:27, 11 March 2017 (UTC)

Thank you for accepting the page protection request, but Please revert to the previous version of the page, AFAIA it contains no explicit WP:BLPCRIME violations and it was the the long standing version of the page before the mass removal sans discussion of well sourced contents(esp the Reaction section) by user: MardeKayle. you can check the history of the page it was created by me and I contributed a lot of content on it.Redhat101 (talk) 23:20, 14 March 2017 (UTC)

Redhat101 It would be best to take it to the talk page. CambridgeBayWeather, Uqaqtuq (talk), Sunasuttuq 23:31, 14 March 2017 (UTC)
I mean i requested protection for that version, if you can, Please review it. it doesn't violate WP:BLPCRIME guideline, one victim is deceased so it will not apply to him and pages for comparable incident like Quebec City mosque shooting are similar in structure/content. Redhat101 (talk) 00:07, 15 March 2017 (UTC)

Hello CambridgeBayWeather, I'm not entirely sure why this was protected like this, as the issue is with one editor who is reverting changes that are being made in accordance with WP:BLP. I think it would be better to take this issue up with Redhat101, rather that edit protect the entire article. It should also be noted, that reverts made to remove contentious information about a BLP, in accordance with BLP policy are not subject to 3RR and other revert policies, as I am sure you are already well aware. Thanks.  {MordeKyle  00:23, 15 March 2017 (UTC)

I requested you to remove only the Infringing content but instead you removed the entire well sourced part of 'Reaction' section of the Page, which doesn't contain any BLP information, also one victim is deceased and his name was widely reported in media so guidelines for BLP will not apply to him and pages for comparable incident like Quebec City mosque shooting are similar in structure/content.Redhat101 (talk) 00:35, 15 March 2017 (UTC)
BLP applies also to recently deceased persons (WP:BDP). 69.165.196.103 (talk) 21:11, 17 March 2017 (UTC)

UALR does have lots of corruptions

I did plenty of investigation on the cheating scandal. UALR does have lots of corruptions. Biris' cheating scandal is one of them. Biris was hired with the lowest credential in the candidate pool because of political reason. That is the reason the university is not among top 100 national universities. Keeping the "cheating scandal" at least will give the administrators a warming. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mpasar (talkcontribs) 15:09, 19 March 2017 (UTC)

This does not bode well

Here is a new diff by the editor who is starting to switch anon IP's at will on the Nadal-Federer article. He guarantees more troubles. Gotta be a sockpuppet of someone... maybe User:RabidMelon but probably User:Liquid foundation? FYI I did find another English translation of the quote he was concerned about and inserted it. I can deal with the snide remarks but I wish he would work as a team member. Not sure that will ever happen. By the way, thanks for your efforts to fix this... nothing I have done to compromise seems to be enough, and I'm being yelled at by the Federer fans as well. I'm ready to throw my hands up on this one and let the article go to all the wolves on both sides. On a less prominent article I would have done so long ago. Guideline and policy news

  • Following a discussion on the backlog of unpatrolled files, consensus was found to create a new user right for autopatrolling file uploads. Implementation progress can be tracked on Phabricator.
  • The BLPPROD grandfather clause, which stated that unreferenced biographies of living persons were only eligible for proposed deletion if they were created after March 18, 2010, has been removed following an RfC.
  • An RfC has closed with consensus to allow proposed deletion of files. The implementation process is ongoing.
  • After an unsuccessful proposal to automatically grant IP block exemption, consensus was found to relax the criteria for granting the user right from needing it to wanting it.

Technical news

  • After a recent RfC, moved pages will soon be featured in a queue similar to Special:NewPagesFeed and require patrolling. Moves by administrators, page movers, and autopatrolled editors will be automatically marked as patrolled.
  • Cookie blocks have been deployed. This extends the current autoblock system by setting a cookie for each block, which will then autoblock the user if they switch accounts, even under a new IP.

Question

Advice about Dave Halili ‎

Hi CambridgeBayWeather. Since you seem to have been recently active at WP:RPP, I wonder if I can ask for your advice about Dave Halili. An IP (maybe someone with a COI) keeps readding a non-free album cover image to the article's infobox. I've tried to explain to them the problems with doing this on their user talk page, but they has been no response other than to re-added the file. I have left a {{uw-3rr}} on the IP's user talk as well, so not sure how they will respond to that. Anyway, an option to taking the IP to AN3 might be to request temporarily protection for the article to some degree to prevent any further disruption. This way the IP doesn't get blocked and the file will not keep having to be removed from the article. Do you think this is a viable option or does there have to be more disruption for the artice to be protected? -- Marchjuly (talk) 05:19, 10 May 2017 (UTC)

Marchjuly. I semi-protected for a week. I am not completely sure but I think that if there was some sort of critical commentary on the works of Halili then one image might be included. But of course not just sticking it in the infobox. CambridgeBayWeather, Uqaqtuq (talk), Sunasuttuq 05:25, 10 May 2017 (UTC)
Thank you for the pp. As for the file and critcal commentary, I agree that is possible which is why I was trying to encourgage the IP to engage in discussion to see if they could provide that commentary. The cover art should not be used in the main infobox for identification of Halili, but it could possibly be added to the body of the article if it is used to support relevant critical commentary (preferably supported by reliable sources) of the album cover. I will post something along those lines on the article's talk page a bit later on. -- Marchjuly (talk) 05:30, 10 May 2017 (UTC)

Korea was a tributary state of China until the late Qing dynasty in 1895, while Goguryeo was a tributary Kingdom and NOT an empire

Goguryeo is being exaggerated as a so-called "empire" by racist Korean Nationalists who are trying to make it look like it was more "powerful" than it historically was in reality. Thank you!

I have no idea what you are talking about. I have no access to those works you have listed so I can't read them. CambridgeBayWeather, Uqaqtuq (talk), Sunasuttuq 10:52, 10 May 2017 (UTC)
Probably the same user as 103.250.142.237, referring to the edit-warring at Goguryeo. I don’t know if you have any use for this information. Just saw the comment and got curious. —67.14.236.50 (talk) 22:11, 10 May 2017 (UTC)
Thanks. That's not an article I've edited or protected. CambridgeBayWeather, Uqaqtuq (talk), Sunasuttuq 22:47, 10 May 2017 (UTC)

Advice

Greetings CambridgeBayWeather!

Do you know what steps I can take if someone keeps adding unsourced information to pages?

-AlaskaLava19:27, 14 May 2017 (UTC)

AlaskaLava. Sorry I've been away a few days. It appears to be sorted. CambridgeBayWeather, Uqaqtuq (talk), Sunasuttuq 13:08, 16 May 2017 (UTC)

Wikivoice

Greetings! A user here keeps stating contested assertions as fact contrary to WP:WIKIVOICE, and misrepresenting a toponym on a Silk Road map [8]. Could you please protect the page? Kind Regards-- Soupforone (talk) 13:30, 16 May 2017 (UTC)

I see you've protected these two articles. My request is to revert or modify this and this edition, since the vandal of this is the IP user that suggested the protection in the RFP.

He has been accustomed to add disruptively to the <!-- --> and delete information in any article without explaining why. Other users have also reverted it but he ignores, it and it should be mentioned that it also carries a large arbitrariness list, in the eswiki. Thanks. --200.89.248.75 (talk) 17:23, 18 May 2017 (UTC)

Also add that:
  • In the article Arcángel the birth name is «Austin Agustin Santos», here is a link and replace for a valid reference since the one that exists this "death link".
  • Add the parameter |mf=y since it is necessary in this type of templates.
  • In the article Boy Wonder in the section | associated_acts = of this template, It's unnecessary to hide it as this section is to show related artists.
  • And it should be noted that the wikilink [[Maluma]] is a disambiguation. The correct one is [[Maluma (singer)]].
Sorry if the English version is bad, but my learning in this language is low. Thanks in advance. --200.89.248.75 (talk) 17:23, 18 May 2017 (UTC)
I can respond to this, the full name of the article Arcángel it is incorrect for example: «Austin Alejandro Santos Pascual» is the son of the same and I also hide the list of collaborations and the date of birth of Boy Wonder because it does not have references and you consider me like vandalism having now that the only thing that you do was to open and discard my editions. 148.0.109.17 (talk) 21:28, 18 May 2017 (UTC)
I replace the dead reference in Arcángel with the live one and fixed the name. In Boy Wonder I fixed the disambiguation link and removed the unsourced birth date. CambridgeBayWeather, Uqaqtuq (talk), Sunasuttuq 07:45, 19 May 2017 (UTC)

Your comparison eyes please

If you could, CBW, just compare the subject of this with how it's been recently recreated- G4 or not. Take care! — O Fortuna semper crescis, aut decrescis 17:46, 18 May 2017 (UTC)

Callista Gingrich

Might I ask why you protected Callista Gingrich? The edit history seems to show a clear consensus with multiple users and IPs (of which I am one) attempting to include sourced information, and a single user reverting. My point here is limited to the implied consensus - there is no material content dispute if a single user is resisting changes that multiple people are attempting to make, and that are also not problematic on any other grounds. 2601:645:8280:76D0:174:988C:6FAE:4738 (talk) 07:58, 20 May 2017 (UTC)

Because there was a lot of back and forth with no attempt to discuss at Talk:Callista Gingrich. CambridgeBayWeather, Uqaqtuq (talk), Sunasuttuq 08:38, 20 May 2017 (UTC)

You've protected a page subject to current events on an inaccurate version because a single contributor favors it, despite at least six separate other contributors favoring the opposing version, which, for the record, is an observation citable to Politico, Reuters, The Hill, CBS, the Washington Post, dozens of other reliable sources, and the White House itself. Whether or not it's discussed on the talk page, multiple edit summaries state that the disputed language is sourced and should not be removed, and a *single editor* is removing it. Please lift the protection; if it's that important to you, I'll include a relevant section on the talk page on my next edit. I do have to say that your protecting the page strikes me as a needlessly hasty and careless move in this particular context. Ordinarily I'm accustomed to single editors resisting a consensus being labeled disruptive or tendentious, vs. having their versions locked by admins during current events dealing with the article subject. 2601:645:8280:76D0:174:988C:6FAE:4738 (talk) 14:28, 20 May 2017 (UTC)

Having had the opportunity to review it further I have decided to unprotect it. That doesn't mean people should be reverting back and forth. There needs to be a discussion on the talk page as to why one version is better than another. CambridgeBayWeather, Uqaqtuq (talk), Sunasuttuq 05:29, 21 May 2017 (UTC)

Genghis Khan

In the BBC documentary source listed in the article it is clearly explained that Genghis Khan means "Universal Ruler." It DOES NOT mean "emperor." It is important to have factual, accurate, and correct information for an encyclopedia. Usual white nationalists are the ones who try to downplay historical facts about Genghis Khan because he is non-western but I am interested in posting historically accurate facts, not randomly made up information posted on Wikipedia such as claiming Genghis Khan means "emperor."Julymath321 (talk) 17:37, 20 May 2017 (UTC)

Julymath321. I'm not sure who you are insinuating is a white nationalist but don't. I have no idea which translation of his title is correct but there was an edit war and it needed to stop. There should have been discussion on the talk page several edits ago. From an uninvolved editors point of view the edit war over a disambiguation page looks rather silly. Why not go with something simpler such as , "Genghis Khan (c. 1162 – 1227) was the founder of the Mongol Empire"? The actual meaning can be left for other pages where this more space to explain it. Pin Bkonrad. CambridgeBayWeather, Uqaqtuq (talk), Sunasuttuq 05:51, 21 May 2017 (UTC)

the disambiguation page must be edited because Bkonrad kept uploading incorrect information. Julymath321 (talk) 17:02, 21 May 2017 (UTC)

Julymath321 It does not require you both to edit war even if the info is wrong for a while. CambridgeBayWeather, Uqaqtuq (talk), Sunasuttuq 17:33, 21 May 2017 (UTC)

Elandas (company)

Hi CambridgeBayWeather -

You recently deleted an article of mine: Elandas (company).

I've relatively new to Wikipedia. I've made a few edits and authored a total of two articles. I have no problem with the article being removed but hope to get some background information to make sure I don't make the same mistake again. I did check the delete log and got the following information:

06:52, 10 May 2017 CambridgeBayWeather (talk | contribs) deleted page Elandas (company) (Expired PROD, concern was: Clearly an advertised business profile which has been subject to a largely obvious attempt to bypass user reviewing and this is because they copy and pasted from a user sandbox to an existing article and then rena...)

Your comment was partly cut off, so I wasn't able to get all the feedback. But the two major objections seem to be that the article is (a) an advertised business profile and (b) involved an attempt to bypass reviewers. I would agree with you that this is an article on a business I work for. I would disagree that I intentionally tried to bypass the user reviews.

I would like to try and publish the article again. Articles about businesses are allowed in Wikipedia - what feedback can you give that would help me write an article on a business that would meet Wikipedia's standards? Of course, getting it reviewed would be helpful and I will try to figure out how I was able to publish the article without it being reviewed in the first place. But if this is never going to pass, that would be useful to understand as well.

Thanks in advance! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Twendai (talkcontribs) 20:56, 23 May 2017 (UTC)

Twendai It was deleted as a WP:PROD and it it can be restored on request so I have do tha and it is at Elandas (company). The comment wasn't from me but from the person who tagged it. CambridgeBayWeather, Uqaqtuq (talk), Sunasuttuq 21:58, 24 May 2017 (UTC)

Protection Needed

Dear Sir/Madam, A while back you had extended short term protection against vandalism to the page "Ritam Chowdhury". Since this was limited time protection, it was removed subsequently. I noticed recently that there have been further acts of vandalism by

2601:141:0:3410:940b:3f7e:bebb:7785

2601:141:0:3410:b0c4:975:a38b:e961

These were detected and reversed. Once they were warned, the same user used a different id to make identical changes. Comparing versions between these users confirms that they are the same person/s who is changing their handle/ip address to make malicious changes targeting this living biography.

Please can you consider blocking these users and/or extending further protection to this page? Thank you.

Both these users are targeting this particular page. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Lsmithcoops (talkcontribs) 14:42, 24 May 2017 (UTC)
