User talk:C3: Colorectal Cancer Coalition
A tag has been placed on C3: Colorectal Cancer Coalition, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article seems to be blatant advertising that only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the general criteria for speedy deletion, particularly item 11, as well as the guidelines on spam.
If you can indicate why the subject of this article is not blatant advertising, you may contest the tagging. To do this, please add {{hangon}}
on the top of C3: Colorectal Cancer Coalition and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would help make it encyclopedic, as well as adding any citations from independent reliable sources to ensure that the article will be verifiable. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Spiesr (talk) 19:41, 20 February 2009 (UTC)
Being new to Wikipedia I am not exactly sure how to go ahead and leave a note on your talk page so I will leave one here and on your page as well. Colorectal Cancer is the 2nd leading cause of cancer in the united states for both men and women killing nearly 50,000 people a year and is the 3rd leading cause of incidence with nearly 150,000 cases a year. I am not looking to provide an advertisement for my organization but rather provide those colorectal patients with a resource in the event they are looking for additional information or somewhere to get involved. To further the point that i don't mean to use this as an advertisement we have linked numerous other sites that C3 is a member of but that also can be a resource. Only after I went to numerous other organization sites did I put ours together and did nothing different than any of those that were not flagged. I am happy to provide additional information about colorectal cancer specifically if necessary in an effort to continue to make this more encyclopedic but what I have attempted to do is provide individuals with an additional outlet to find information on organizations working to help those with colorectal cancer. Essentially, if I didn't have a website to the organization, I could look it up on Wikipedia to find detailed information and how it helps colorectal cancer patients. Please advise as to what other items could be added to further the encyclopedic nature of the page.

Request reason:
I clearly did not take enough time to read through everything on the site and I apologize for any confusion or failure to properly produce an article per Wikipedia guidelines. That said, I truly was not attempting to advertise my organization but rather recognize it because of the hundreds of advocates across the country that are a part of it and allow other individuals that may be interested knowledge of what it was before visiting our website if they didn't have the link. If that is advertisement, then I apologize. I would appreciate the opportunity to put the page together in a more encyclopedic manner which I had asked earlier but with it being Friday, did not receive this message until now. If I could be given time to remedy the manner and adjust the article I would greatly appreciate that since a lot of time when into putting this together, as misconstrued as it may be. Please adjust my username to "BenDoD" I appreciate your understanding and allowing me to right this situation
Decline reason:
It's not that you did it wrong, it's that organizations are not entitled to create their own entries on Wikipedia. It's considered a conflict of interest, and it compromises Wikipedia's core goal to be neutral. That said, in addition, your article read like a fundraising letter or solicitation website, bravely praising the mission of C3 and describing every aspect of its activities as positive, exciting, and worthy of the reader's generous contributions. Wikipedia is not a soapbox; your fight against Colorectal cancer is admirable, but please promote it elsewhere. Mangojuicetalk 05:28, 21 February 2009 (UTC)

What other areas are you interested in editing? Unfortunately, your editing of that article is the reason you were blocked, due to the high conflict of interest. Blueboy96 02:58, 21 February 2009 (UTC)
All points are valid and I clearly did not read all of the guidelines before creating the page starting with myself creating the page. Is it possible to delete this page entirely so that it does not exist at all with all of these changes/edits/comments and if an advocate chooses to create a page to explain the organization to other advocates, etc. . . then so be it, otherwise we'll leave it alone. I appreciate the assistance, especially the most recent comments that were straight to the point and not full of wikipedia jargon. Thank you again for your time and I apologize for wasting your time. - As an indefinitely blocked user, this page will eventually be deleted. If you don't want to wait for that (probably several months), you can always blank the page by editing it and removing all the text. Mangojuicetalk 15:11, 23 February 2009 (UTC)
I'm not sure what to say about this. Actually the organization looks fairly notable so if you weren't indefinitely blocked you could go to requested articles and hopefully someone would make it for you. Nerfari (talk) 20:33, 23 February 2009 (UTC)
