Speedy deletion of User:Byronafrica
[edit]A tag has been placed on User:Byronafrica, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be blatant advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the guidelines on spam as well as Wikipedia:FAQ/Business for more information.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on [[ Talk:User:Byronafrica|the talk page]] explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the article or have a copy emailed to you. ukexpat (talk) 16:34, 5 February 2009 (UTC)
Deletion question
[edit]Can you explain why you carry pages on Sony Entertainment Television for Asia, India, Portugal and South America. I was updating their presence in South Africa within that context. Are those pages similarly advertising? Can you please explain Byronafrica (talk) 12:18, 11 February 2009 (UTC)
- If you have questions about the deletion of your userpage, I recommend you check with administrator who deleted it. Perhaps if you had a discussion regarding your intentions for the page, you could come to a consensus regarding whether or not it belongs, and if so, where the information should be placed. Frank | talk 12:30, 11 February 2009 (UTC)
- I cannot really add to what Frank has said. From looking at the deletion log, your user page was deleted for being too promotional, and I suspect the same fate would have befallen it had it been moved to the mainspace. It's really a question of tone over intention -- you may not have intended it to be promotional, but that's how it read. Just one more thing, the fact that other stuff exists is not usually a helpful argument in deletion discussions, the merits of the specific article are what's important. If other articles meet the deletion criteria, they will be deleted eventually, by one of our deletion methods. If you want to re-create the article, I suggest doing so in a user sandbox. I have created one for you here: User:Byronafrica/Sandbox where you can work on it over time and where it is not likely to be deleted unless it is in breach of one of our key policies such as copyvio. Hope this helps. – ukexpat (talk) 14:24, 12 February 2009 (UTC)
