The Scene

[edit]

Hi, and thanks for your email. I just reread the article and while I think you meet notability it feels pretty advertorial to me. I'll leave notes on the article draft page. Thanks! Julie JSFarman (talk) 00:28, 4 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I take it back. I started to leave notes on the draft page and I had a note for nearly every assertion of the article. It needs a complete rewrite. Don't use flowery language, don't use adjectives, don't include anything that isn't a straight-ahead fact. If it would work in a marketing brochure, it probably doesn't belong in a Wikipedia article JSFarman (talk) 00:45, 4 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I just thought I should check

Regarding your edits at FXCM, they look like the type of edits a paid editor might make, in an area of Wikipedia that has been subjected to a lot of paid editing. May I ask if you are a paid editor? If so, you you need to declare your paid status per our Terms of Use (see:WP:Paid). You should also read WP:COI. I hope this eliminates any possible confusion. Smallbones(smalltalk) 15:44, 9 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

:@Smallbones: - My issues pertaining to the FXCM page have derived purely from either insufficient citations or other users references to a breach in Wikipedia's guidelines. Note the following examples:
  • Recentism - From the article - "Articles overburdened with documenting controversy as it happens." While the latest news relating to FXCM's regulatory issues in the United States are certainly to be addressed on this page, having them become the focus of the introductory sentence and occupy the entirety of the first paragraph opposes the Recentism guidelines.
  • "that has been banned in the United States for "fraudulent misrepresentation" to its customers" - Smallbones - This quote that was removed by myself was removed due to a lack of citation to which you responded, "obviously from the court order", how is it obvious that is from anything without a citation? Only now has a citation been added to this revision.
I am not commercially remunerated for making edits to this page. I am purely interested ensuring that the pages I edit are as neutral and factual as can be (in accordance to Wikipedia guidelines). If you can provide me with reasons as to why I was at fault to question the changes referenced above then I would be happy to hear them.
In addition, I've just come across a review (I'm not sure if this has been responded to or not) of changes you have made to this page by user Gouyoku - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:FXCM#.22Full_Review.22_of_2017.2F04.2F26 - Being accused of commercial affiliation here is a little unjust when I am not the only one who is questioning some of your amendments to this page. Your thoughts most welcome. --Lenticularphoto (talk) 19:49, 9 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Formal mediation has been requested

[edit]
The Mediation Committee has received a request for formal mediation of the dispute relating to "FXCM". As an editor concerned in this dispute, you are invited to participate in the mediation. Mediation is a voluntary process which resolves a dispute over article content by facilitation, consensus-building, and compromise among the involved editors. Request for mediation accepted

[edit]
The request for formal mediation of the dispute concerning FXCM, in which you were listed as a party, has been accepted by the Mediation Committee. The case will be assigned to an active mediator within two weeks, and mediation proceedings should begin shortly thereafter. Proceedings will begin at the case information page, Wikipedia:Requests for mediation/FXCM, so please add this to your watchlist. Formal mediation is governed by the Mediation Committee and its Policy. The Policy, and especially the first two sections of the "Mediation" section, should be read if you have never participated in formal mediation. For a short guide to accepted cases, see the "Accepted requests" section of the Guide to formal mediation. You may also want to familiarise yourself with the internal Procedures of the Committee.

As mediation proceedings begin, be aware that formal mediation can only be successful if every participant approaches discussion in a professional and civil way, and is completely prepared to compromise. Please contact the Committee if anything is unclear.
