Thanks for the welcome
Hi Alpha Quadrant. Thanks for the welcome. Yes, I really do need some help when it comes to Wikipedia and some of its technicalities though. I hope it would be easy to understand the Wikicodes and the way of the Wikipedians. Again, thanks. Berniemack (talk) 15:46, 29 October 2010 (UTC)Berniemack
Aussie Rules in Iceland
Hi Alpha Quadrant. I have added references to the Aussie Rules in Iceland page but would like to point out that worldfootynews is a reliable source and most likely the best on the topic of australian rules football outside of Australia and is used as references on other wikipedia entries dealing with the subject (e.g. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Australian_rules_football_in_the_Americas). I encourage you to take a better look at WorldFootyNews.com. Thanks in advanced Fritz (arkitektinn_at_gmail.com). —Preceding unsigned comment added by 130.208.242.10 (talk) 12:04, 29 October 2010 (UTC)

I have fixed the image copyright status. Please add Non-free use rationale to each of the images and fill it out. Then the image will be fine. --Alpha Quadrant talk 21:03, 6 October 2010 (UTC) Hi Alpha- All of my images have been delted with wrong copyright even after you made some changes. Im not sure how to fix them. Please help- I would like to put my page live. Evaporation Expert (talk) 20:07, 14 October 2010 (UTC)
- According to the deletion reason, the images are replaceable with free images or photographs. The company owns the images that were deleted. So the only way they could be used under fair use would be if there were no free license images available, and impossible to create a free alternative. Company logos can be used under fair use because it is not possible to create a free alternative, but photographs of products can not be used under fair use. If you create a free image you can upload it. If you would like live assistance with uploading you can access the wikipedia help channel here. I hope this helps. --Alpha Quadrant talk 20:27, 14 October 2010 (UTC)
AFC review
I noticed your comment here and realized it was me who had conflicted with your efforts. It was not my intention to "step on your toes" or undermine your review. For that I do apologize. Regarding the thread, I intend to comment at that location, but did want to address you here first. Regards. My76Strat 13:09, 3 October 2010 (UTC)
- Actually I wasn't really referring to any particular editor. Quite a few participants are doing this because of the recent backlog. The only submission that you have declined that I put on hold was Software Shelf. Which appears Chzz also disagreed with me about the hold and declined, so I guess I was wrong anyway. I was more trying to say that quite a few editors, including Chzz, are doing it. Declining after 2 hours on hold. I was using Software Self as a example of it. Sorry if I sounded like I was singling you out, I really am not. Best, --Alpha Quadrant talk 14:35, 3 October 2010 (UTC)
Thank you for the hard work put in!

Alpha Quadrant, thanks for what you did on the Celebrity Nightmares Decoded page. You stuck with it and made sure to improve it's quality and the way it looked. I saw it before and I have to tell you the improvement is wonderful!!!! Thank you for being of such dedicated assistance making sure the incident was resolved. THANKS! Request for mediation of Restoring Honor rally
A request for formal mediation of the dispute relating to Restoring Honor rally was recently filed. As an editor concerned in this dispute, you are invited to participate in the mediation. The process of mediation is entirely voluntary and focuses exclusively on the content issues over which there is disagreement. Please review the request page and the guide to mediation requests and then indicate in the "party agreement" section whether you would agree to participate. Discussion relating to the mediation request welcome at the case talk page.
Thank you, AGK 21:35, 3 October 2010 (UTC)
Restoring Honor
Just wanted to say thanks for your efforts in the cabal case for Restoring Honor rally, and look forward to working with you during the mediation. BS24 (talk) 00:31, 4 October 2010 (UTC)
- Thank you BS24. I will continue my attempts in mediation, but I have no objections in the Mediation Committee taking over. I hope the Committee can do better than I did. Best, --Alpha Quadrant talk 20:30, 4 October 2010 (UTC)
- Hello again, I'm wondering if it's possible to remove a party from the mediation? User: The Artist AKA Mr Anonymous has repeatedly stated his refusal to participate but has not noted this on the mediation page. All the other editors have agreed to join or stated their inclination to join. BS24 (talk) 18:38, 5 October 2010 (UTC)
- I believe the mediation does not require all of the participants to opt in to the mediation. If everyone else agrees it will likely proceed. Please note I am not on the Mediation Committee so I don't know exactly how they will handle this. I'll try talking to User: The Artist AKA Mr Anonymous first. Maybe I can convince him. Best, --Alpha Quadrant talk 18:48, 5 October 2010 (UTC)
- Well, BS24, how many other people do you want to exclude from mediation, if necessary without their knowledge and by telling a lie? If AzureCitizen wouldn't have told me, I never would have realized what was going on. Please, mediation only makes sense if everyone has a serious intention to talk with people who have different opinions. 82.135.29.209 (talk) 17:30, 9 October 2010 (UTC)
- I originally listed you but removed you because 1) I thought you were The Artists due to reasons stated on my talk page and 2) I was operating under the apparently false pretense that if one party does not respond to the mediation request the whole thing gets rejected. BS24 (talk) 17:58, 9 October 2010 (UTC)
- No, it doesn't get rejected if one party doesn't show up. 82.135.29.209's name has been readded to the mediation list. BS24 had left a note about the mediation on Restoring Honor Rally's talk page. Perhaps BS24 thought you stopped editing. No harm was done, let's get back to mediation. Best, --Alpha Quadrant talk 18:05, 9 October 2010 (UTC)

PPI Assessment Follow-up
Hi AlphaQuadrant, thank you for assessing articles in the Wikiproject: United States Public Policy. This project is probably different than other assessment drives you have worked on, it involves more assessment of lower ranked articles, it has input and staff from the foundation, and specific goals to improve and measure content of public policy articles. It also involves collaboration from some university classes, we are using an experimental assessment rubric, and most articles will be assessed by multiple reviewers to get a range of scores for each article. I have learned a lot from many of the assessors' comments and am really excited about the insight from this group of Wikipedians. I hope you are finding some benefits to involvement in this project. 1) your assessments are part of research that is attempting to increase credibility of Wikipedia in academic circles, 2) there is a great group of assessors involved in discussion of what is article quality and how to measure it, 3) WP:USPP is also piloting the Article Feedback tool, so if interested, those involved in assessment on the project will be asked to help improve and rate this tool as well, and 4) subject matter experts are assessing articles alongside Wikipedians and comparisons of results will provide some insight as to the rigor of Wikipedia quality rating.
To give you an update on assessment, about half of the assessments are complete for the first part of this first assessment. I had some trouble finding public policy experts to join us in assessing, but finally managed to recruit a group last week, hopefully some of them will join the discussion on the assessment talk page. Next week, I should have some preliminary results to share with you, I will also post the second assessment request very soon. The discussion on the talk page is very exciting, and I hope if you are interested, you will provide input on the Article Feedback Tool which is being piloted on articles in WP:USPP. Please let me know if there is anything I and the project team can do to make working on this project a more positive experience. Thanks again, ARoth (Public Policy Initiative) (talk) 23:59, 4 October 2010 (UTC)
Mentor Clarification
Alpha Quadrant - I am so sorry for all the confusion. I am obviously still finding my way around the community a bit haphazardly. I have found a mentor who is associated with the wikiproject I will be working on and think this will be a more appropriate fit. Sorry again and I appreciate you willingness to help. Please still feel free to offer any comments on the "Compulsory Public Education" article I will be working on. Clairestum (talk) 04:05, 5 October 2010 (UTC)
- Ah, I see what you mean. Ssilvers is going to help at Wikipedia:WikiProject United States Public Policy. I am helping out there too, but under a different section of the progect: Wikipedia:WikiProject United States Public Policy/Assessment/Alpha Quadrant. I'll be one of the users assessing the articles that are being worked on. If you have any questions and Ssilvers is not around I can help you. Best, --Alpha Quadrant talk 04:15, 5 October 2010 (UTC)
Rollback Script
You recently posted the following statement on the Admin noticeboard: "Custom summaries can be used with rollback. This script, importScript('User:Gracenotes/rollback.js'); added to your monobook.js file allows you to rollback a edit with a custom summary." I hate the fact that it isn't easy to put in an edit summary when doing a rollback. I don't use any of the gadgets (although I keep thinking about doing so), so, unless it's clear vandalism, I either rollback manually (edit an earlier version and save it), or I don't rollback at all. Anyway, what exactly do I do to use the script you mention? I don't even know what monobook.js is. You don't have to put a talkback tag on my Talk page - I'll watch yours (great picture) for a response. Thanks.--Bbb23 (talk) 13:27, 5 October 2010 (UTC)
- (talk page stalker) Bbb23, monobook is a skin; it used to be the default skin, but it's been changed to vector. If you haven't heard of monobook, you're probably using vector. You should be able to use the script by adding importScript('User:Gracenotes/rollback.js'); to User:Bbb23/vector.js. GiftigerWunsch [TALK] 13:36, 5 October 2010 (UTC)
- Thanks! I've added the script and I now see an extra link called "sum". Next time I want to do a rollback with an edit summary, I'll try it.--Bbb23 (talk) 13:48, 5 October 2010 (UTC)
- The script is really nice, when you click the "sum" link it opens a box for a edit summary. When you click the ok button it performs the rollback in the same amount of time as the standard rollback. --Alpha Quadrant talk 13:54, 5 October 2010 (UTC)
- Great. At some point, I'll probably force myself to use a gadget that also automates the process of warning the editor. I warn manually now - unfortunately, not always - and it would be nice to have an easier way to do it. I'm sure that the users who vandalize don't pay any attention, but if nothing else it creates a record. I actually prefer warnings to users who make unconstructive or inappropriate edits that aren't vandalism because there may be some real educational value in those instances.--Bbb23 (talk) 14:02, 5 October 2010 (UTC)
- Have you considered using Twinkle? When you use one of twinkle's rollback features (AGF, regular, or vandalism), it'll do the rollback, give the option of an edit summary if it was AGF or regular rollback, and then automatically open the talk page of the user you rolled back. You then have the twinkle 'warn' tag which will let you easily select an appropriate warning template. GiftigerWunsch [TALK] 15:36, 5 October 2010 (UTC)
- Yes, that was my intention when I referred to forcing myself to use a gadget. I just have to look at the documentation, install it, and use it. I've been procrastinating.

- I have a question on the script, though. I've now used it a couple of times. It allows me to add the edit summary, which is great, but then the edit summary no longer contains the usual rollback text about reverting changes of user. Can't I get both?--Bbb23 (talk) 01:37, 6 October 2010 (UTC)
If you add this to the same place you put the script it will add the standard rollback message, and you can add to it when you use the "sum" button.
<!-- ROLLBACK.JS --> importScript('User:Gracenotes/rollback.js'); rollbackSummaryDefault = "Reverted edits by $2 (talk) to last version by $1";
I hope this helps, there is more detailed information at User talk:Gracenotes/rollback.js. Best, --Alpha Quadrant talk 01:57, 6 October 2010 (UTC)
- Thanks! I won't know if it works until my next rollback. I'll only bother you again if it doesn't. --Bbb23 (talk) 22:15, 6 October 2010 (UTC)
- Well, it didn't work. Must be something I did wrong, but I don't know what. I did it here. The intent was to rollback two edits by the same editor. It only undid the most recent and although it had my comment, it didn't have the usual rollback text.--Bbb23 (talk) 14:28, 7 October 2010 (UTC)
- When it opened the summary box was there already text in it? --Alpha Quadrant talk 14:32, 7 October 2010 (UTC)
- Nope, the text box was blank (as before). I didn't read the comment above it. I only glanced at it, but it looked the same as before (the $user stuff or something like that).--Bbb23 (talk) 14:34, 7 October 2010 (UTC)
- Can you try adding <!-- ROLLBACK.JS --> to the vector.js page as it is shown above, I think it needs to be on the page for it the script to work. --Alpha Quadrant talk 14:40, 7 October 2010 (UTC)
- Okay, I've done that, and now I'm even more confused. I wouldn't think the addition of a comment would do anything at all. However, I tried it on my sandbox after making two changes. The script is now working as it did initially, meaning it rolled back both changes but did not use the rollback language. See here. As an aside, you don't have to go to the trouble of putting a talkback template on my Talk page. I'm watching your page. Also, if at any point you feel like giving up, that's fine. I feel like I'm imposing on your good will.--Bbb23 (talk) 15:01, 7 October 2010 (UTC)
- Ok, I tested to make sure the settings worked in the vector.js skin [1] and it did. Have you tried bypassing the web page cache, if the page is cached then the script settings wouldn't have changed. If you are using Microsoft Internet Explorer there are often issues with script settings because the browser doesn't fully support scripts. There is a setting in user preferences that fixes the Internet Explorer issue. I hope this resolves the issue for you. --Alpha Quadrant talk 15:19, 7 October 2010 (UTC)
- I think we've finally resolved it. I use Firefox. However, I cleared all my cache, and the script now works properly (it populates the text box with the variables and then I add my comment at the end). Just so you know, the script comment at the top is in fact irrelevant (I've removed it and tested to confirm). It was the cache that was the problem. Thanks for sticking with me.--Bbb23 (talk) 15:33, 7 October 2010 (UTC)

Hi, when you revert vandalism, do make sure you revert it all, otherwise it may look as if you are condining what you leave in, and that would make you a vandal too ! Cheers, --Kudpung (talk) 00:03, 6 October 2010 (UTC)
Thank You Alpha Quadrant for your edits to my article!
Thanks for your great advice and edits! I have (hopefully) fixed what was incomplete and unacceptable in my article and have made the changes and am ready for resubmission. However, I dont want to resubmit without an opinion that the article "looks fine or good" from a Wiki PRO like you!
Can you please tell me how I can get the "revised article" reviewed by an expert before I resubmit so I dont have to worry about it being declined again?
I REALLY appreciate your expertise and I hope the changes Ive made are "right" and acceptable for Wikipedia! IF you'd like a reminder of who I am and what the article is , it can be seen at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia_talk:Articles_for_creation/Rick_DePiro_%28aka_Ricky_Dee%29
Again thanks and I look forward to your assistance or guidance once again!

- Ok, I have added new comments and toned down the article. There are a couple things that need fixing.
- The sources need to be WP:CITED, for step by step instructions see WP:AFCRE.
- The media appearances section needs to be in complete sentences.
- The article needs to be written in Neutral point of view.
After these things are fixed you can resubmit the article. I hope this helps. --Alpha Quadrant talk 15:10, 6 October 2010 (UTC)
Hi Alpha Quadrant!
THANKS so much for your help! -- I did fix the items you asked for and resubmitted it -- it was put on hold so that i could fix my inline refs which I did -- BUT now the person kind enough to originally review it has "taken a break from Wikipedia for a while" -- so, will someone else finally review it soon -- or do I need to request someone else so that it can be approved hopefully ?
Again, THANKS for all y7our help -- I hope you realize how much your helping me get this right !! I appreciate it !! --A&RBoss (talk) 23:25, 9 October 2010 (UTC)

Could you explain yourself?
There appears to be some serious WP:BITE-ing of newbs going on. You have been reverting and warning User:Evaporation Expert for vandalism, when all he appeares to be doing is being confused by Wikipedia's image uploading protocols. You even removed a valid question from WP:MCQ which is the exact place he is told to ask questions if he needs help! Please slow down and consider helping this user work through problems rather than just accusing him of vandalism for trying to get help! --Jayron32 20:21, 6 October 2010 (UTC)
- Thanks for getting on this so fast: [2]. I understand that fighting vandalism is hard, thankless work. But Wikipedia has a high learning curve, and understanding when its vandalism, and when it is just a newb screwing things up, is important, as we don't want to scare away our future FA writers. Keep up the good work, just slow down and be careful. See Hanlon's razor. Never assume malice, when incompetance is the more likely reason. --Jayron32 20:29, 6 October 2010 (UTC)
!!!
I was just apologizing. If that offends you that bug off! --Ikill588 (talk) 20:41, 6 October 2010 (UTC)
- Um, adding things to other users userpages is not apologizing. If you wish to apologize you should do so on their user talk page. I hope this helps. --Alpha Quadrant talk 20:48, 6 October 2010 (UTC)

Mediator available
Hello Alpha Quadrant! Don't know if you noticed, but WGFinley offered to mediate our case and so far, 7 out of 12 editors have signified agreement here. If you have any reservations about him, I understand - I believe the decision needs to be unanimous - but if you're willing, assigning a mediator this way will considerably faster as AGK indicated here it may take two to three weeks otherwise. Thanks for considering it. AzureCitizen (talk) 21:46, 9 October 2010 (UTC)
Is Wikipedia:Mediation Cabal/Cases/2010-09-09/Restoring Honor rally still active? If it is, where is it being held? If not, the status needs to be changed. Netalarmtalk 19:21, 10 October 2010 (UTC)
- The case is still ongoing and can be found at Wikipedia:Requests_for_mediation/Restoring_Honor_rally. It appears the other page you were referring to was an earlier and previous filing by user BS24 that didn't get picked up. --AzureCitizen (talk) 19:39, 10 October 2010 (UTC)
- Ah, so it's been escalated to formal mediation. I'll mark the informal request as such. Netalarmtalk 19:41, 10 October 2010 (UTC)
An update from adopt a user
Hi there Alpha Quadrant! You may be wondering, what have I done to sound the alarm this time? Nothing. I'm messaging you in regards to the adopt-a-user program, which currently has a backlog of users wishing to be adopted. This doesn't make much sense, as we have a considerable list of users offer adoption, so there shouldn't be any backlog. I've begun to eliminate this backlog myself through a matching program, but I need your help to make it work. Of course, adoptees and adopters don't have to go through there, but I believe it helps eliminate the backlog because someone is actively matching pairs.
On the list of adopters, I have modified the middle column to say "Interests." It's easier working with other users that have similar interests, so if it's not too much to ask, could you add your interests in the middle column? For example, if I was interested in hurricanes, computers, business, and ... reptiles? I would place those in the middle column. Counter-vandalism and the like can also be included (maintenance should be used as the general term). The more interests, the better, since adoptees can learn more about you and choose the one they feel most comfortable working with. The information about when you're most active and other stuff can go into the "Notes" section to the right.
Finally, I've gone around and asked adoptees (and will in the future) to fill in a short survey so adopters can take the initiative and contact users they feel comfortable working with. We all know that most adoptees just place the adopt me template on their user page and leave it - so it's up to us to approach them and offer adoption. So, please take a look at the survey, adopt those that fit your interests, and maybe watchlist it so you can see the interests of adoptees and adopt one that fits your interests in the future.
Once again, thank you for participating in the adopt-a-user program! If you wish to respond to this post, please message me on my talk page.

Signature
Alpha Quadrant, the only way I found to do a custom date was to actually make it part of my signature. The forth tilde is what appends the date to your signature. So when I sign my name, I only use three tildes, but I include the date as part of my signature. So here is my custom signature:
<span style="color:green">Morphh</span> <span style="color:chocolate">(talk)</span> <small><i> (UTC)</i></small>
Note the markup for the small and italics. It took me a little bit to get use to only using ~~~ instead of ~~~~ but I like the effect. Morphh (talk) 23:58, 11 October 2010 (UTC)
- Thanks, I really like it. It probably wouldn't work for me because when I use huggle it uses four tides, which case my signature would have two timestamps :). Best, --Alpha Quadrant talk 00:03, 12 October 2010 (UTC)

Relisting and nominating for rescue at the same time
Its a really really good idea not to relist something and nominate it for rescue at the same time. There are many editors, not necessarily myself, who feel that listing stuff for rescue is a subtle form of canvassing keep votes and the juxtaposition of the relist and the listing has the potential for causing unnecessary drama - its not like we don't already have oodles of the stuff. Relisting is an assessment of the consensus so should not be associated with an act that many users consider partisan. I am sure that this isn't the case but its best to avoid giving that impression. For your information I overturned and deleted your relist of Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Soccer Matrix as, once the ILIKEIT and OTHERSTUFF votes there remained the basic problem of an unsourced article that the keep side hadn't sourced. I have agreed to mediate the Restoring Honor case. I'm requesting that all parties start with opening statements, instructions are at the top of the page. Thanks for agreeing to go to mediation, I'm hopeful we can get this resolved to the satisfaction of all parties. Don't hesitate to contact me with any questions or issues. --WGFinley (talk) 00:53, 13 October 2010 (UTC)
- I think we're still waiting on your statement at Wikipedia talk:Requests for mediation/Restoring Honor rally if you care to make one before we continue. Morphh (talk) 14:02, 19 October 2010 (UTC)
WP:USPP thanks you! And hopes you come back!
Alpha_Quadrant, thanks for contributing to article assessment in WP:USPP. Your continued involvement would be very appreciated. There is a second assessment request posted. There will be weekly updates about the research for this project posted here, look for the first one tomorrow. The next assessment request will come in early November. There is a lot of expertise and discussion about article quality happening in the project, so if you have any thoughts on the metric, or any ideas keeping project research exciting please let me know. Hi, i am not subscriped in any program of mentors, but i would like you to be my tutor and help me. For our final projct we have to choose a topic and writte an article in Wikipedia. We were thinking about a comany in Mexico city, what do you thik?? tkanksMontseSalin (talk) 22:24, 14 October 2010 (UTC)
- Sure, a company is a good topic. Does you group have to start a article, or are you going to work on improving a existing article? If I understand this correctly this is going to be a group project. Do the other people in your group have Wikipedia accounts? Best, --Alpha Quadrant talk 23:09, 14 October 2010 (UTC)
- Yes other people are in my group working and they have wikipedia accounts but we can workthe topic through my account. We choose the topic of the company alpura in mexico which it is a company who produces milk, yogurt and it is a branch that most of all the mexicans consum.MontseSalin (talk) 13:15, 15 October 2010 (UTC)
- Ok, then I assume that you will be working on a existing article. The article is at Alpura (company), however it is rated stub class on Wikipedia's quality scale, so there is plenty of room for improving the article. Also, I need to tell you it is against the rules for people to share accounts, see WP:NOSHARE. If any of your classmates need help creating accounts I can assist them. Thank you, --Alpha Quadrant talk 15:31, 15 October 2010 (UTC)

Eve Online Incursion Deletion
Hey, your bot deleted my alterations to an article for vandalism. I can honestly say I was not trying to vandalise anything on the Eve Online page, and after reviewing all available articles, I found that I had been duplicating information, so in the end it's all good. But perhaps, not listing a change as vandalism when it was just an effort to try to be helpful would be nice, of course if I was incorrect in my form or the content I included, I do apologize. Just a little disconcerting to get a message saying essentially, "you're a vandal," when you're studying. Any suggestions so that I do not make a similar mistake in the future would be greatly appreciated as I am brand new to Wikipedia in this capacity. AtlasZetaAllioth (talk) 16:41, 19 October 2010 (UTC)
- A Bot? I don't use or operate a bot. The edit you made was not written in a WP:Neutral Point of View and appeared to be advertising for a website. So I reverted it. The antivandalism program uses the standard warning template. The warning template says the edit appeared inappropriate and was reverted. It does not accuse you of being a vandal. You can remove the warning if you want. I hope this helps you. Best, --Alpha Quadrant talk 20:33, 19 October 2010 (UTC)
Sorry, the message I received said bot, but it's not a big deal. I didn't realize the tone was leaning toward advertising, apologies for that, and thanks! AtlasZetaAllioth (talk) 16:49, 21 October 2010 (UTC)
Public Policy Initiative assessments
Hi Alpha Quadrant/Archive 4 -- Amy Roth is now out on maternity leave (she had a healthy baby girl this weekend!) so I'll be filling in for a couple of months. (I'm LiAnna Davis, the Public Policy Initiative's communications associate.) I'd like to get the assessments done this week if possible -- I've made some edits to give you direct links to the versions we'd like you to assess. Your page is here. Please let me know if you can't finish it by this weekend! Let me know if you have any questions. Thanks again for all your help! --Ldavis (Public Policy) (talk) 23:29, 20 October 2010 (UTC)
HI
Hi, how are you??? can you please write in my alpura home page, what do you think pf the topic i already answered you last message, hope to here from you.MontseSalin (talk) 03:32, 21 October 2010 (UTC)
- Ok, I have a few suggestions for improving the article.
- The history and operations sections needs expansion. Example: When the company was started, important events that occurred throughout it's history, any major expansions. References would need to be found to support information added. See WP:RS for instructions on how to figure out what sources are considered reliable.
- A infobox should be added. Particularly Infobox company. The fields of the infobox would then need to be filled in.
I hope this helps. --Alpha Quadrant talk 18:50, 21 October 2010 (UTC)
I don't get it
I'd like to know how my edits at Tapiwa Zivira are vandalism. Did you even look at the article or just revert it because I'm new? --Seekadet (talk) 18:17, 22 October 2010 (UTC)
Please revert vandalism more carefully and completely
Hi Alpha Quadrant,
Please look at http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Anesthesiologist&action=history, where you reverted a single edit by an anonymous IP vandal (using your alternate account). However, you failed to revert the previous 4 edits by the same IP vandal, which had deleted a substantial fraction of the article. In effect, by reverting only his last edit, you placed your stamp of approval on the IP vandal's previous deletions in that article, since other editors would no longer see that page as recently-vandalized. That is not good. I do not have the time to check your lengthy recent edit history for other instances where you may have done the same thing, so I don't know if this is an isolated mistake on your part, or a frequent one.
Please be more careful in the future, and make sure to check the article history to ensure that you are reverting to the last non-vandalized version. Especially when using automated tools such as STiki to do hundreds or thousands of reversions. Since you have rollbacker rights on both of your accounts, it should be easy for you to fully revert multi-edit vandalism, and by having those rights you have a greater responsibility to do so properly.
Thanks, and keep up the good work otherwise. --Seattle Skier (talk) 20:43, 22 October 2010 (UTC)
- On the more carefully side I note that I have looked at your reverting of an edit by User:68.98.219.178 to the article Crow at 18:21:50 hours on the 26th of October 2010. You referred to the reverted edit as vandalism. I think that the edit was poor, but it was backed up by the cited source. It was not vandalism. I thank you for your great efforts in fighting vandalism. Wikipedia would hard pressed to find a way to survive without many effective vandal fighters. Keeping the number of misidentifications of vandalism to a minimum should also be a goal. Thanks again for your efforts. --Fartherred (talk) 21:51, 26 October 2010 (UTC)

Review
Hello, Thank you for reviewing the article I have created about Robin Smeulders. After reading your comments, I was hoping you could tell me specifically which source I used that met the third party source criteria. Although I have read through other wiki articles about identifying third party sources, etc. it is still not completely clear. This is my first article and I would like to do it as correctly as possible! Thank you for your time and information; I look forward to hearing back from you. Cbrep (talk) 15:26, 29 October 2010 (UTC)
- Hello Cbrep, welcome to Wikipedia. You have a good article written, it just needs third party sources. http://www.oregonlive.com/pilots/index.ssf/2009/01/ruders_smeulders_story.html is a reliable third party news source. The news source is not affiliated, or working for the basketball player or his basketball team. Finding trusted news sources are usually the best for articles on athletes. This might help you find some good sources Google News and Google News Archives. I noticed some of the sources are in German. It is ok to use those, but please write (German), then the source information. For example this French article on the French Wikipedia citing a English source: [3] the (en) suffix is used to denote English sources. I hope this helps you. --Alpha Quadrant talk 16:03, 29 October 2010 (UTC)
- Hello again,
- Thank you for such a quick response! I apologize for responding via the "Edit" button, but I can't seem to respond by clicking the supserscript "talk" link. I have added a USA Today article as well as an additional Oregonian article; I hope these are sufficient. Please let me know if there are any other changes or additions for this article. Thank you. Cbrep (talk) 09:25, 30 October 2010 (UTC)
- Nice job using the cite web template in your article. I have Accepted you submission. Using the "edit" button is how you add new posts, so you did it correctly. Best, Alpha Quadrant talk 12:55, 30 October 2010 (UTC)

You have been invited to comment in a special Request for Constructive Criticism page. I am looking for areas in which I can improve. I have identified you as both an experienced and trusted Wikipedian, and as someone that has had sufficient contact with me to able to recognize areas in which I can improve.
Please feel free to visit and post any comments or criticism you have. At a certain point, I cannot improve if no one tells me what I need to work on. Thanks in advance, Sven Manguard Talk 00:23, 31 October 2010 (UTC) |

"Vandalism" reversion
Hi there, please be careful about labelling edits as vandalism when you revert them. I really don't agree that this edit for example is blatant vandalism. Looks like the editor was trying to make the article more neutral. You may not agree with them (I don't know enough about the subject to know if their edit was helpful or not), but I seriously doubt it was intentional vandalism. --BelovedFreak 21:10, 2 November 2010 (UTC)
- Just checking back your last few edits, I'm also not sure that these are blatant vandalism: [4], [5], [6], [7] and in this edit you're not only reverting something as "vandalism" that isn't, you're reverting a completely constructive edit and reintroducing an error into the article. Keep up the good work you're doing, but please keep WP:BITE in mind, and slow down a bit! --BelovedFreak 21:23, 2 November 2010 (UTC)
- Thank you for pointing this out. I will use custom edit summaries for edits that are not blatant vandalism. --Alpha Quadrant talk 22:02, 2 November 2010 (UTC)

Thank you very much for reviewing my article! And some questions concerning its future))
Hello! Thank you very much for reviewing my article on "Korsakov Andrey (linguist and language philosopher)" and giving it a new status. As I'm new to Wikipedia in creating articles, will you please tell me what the weak point of the article is? Then I'll try to better it)) Why can't I find it using the Wikipedia searching engine? Is it just temporary and will it be possible for the wiki-users? And one more thing needs clearing up for me to feel free and happy. Is the article created (Korsakov Andrey http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Special%3ASearch&search=Andrey+Korsakov) at any possible risk of being deleted, now then it's 'a starter'? Thanks in advance, AK IM OP (talk) 16:30, 3 November 2010 (UTC)
- Hello AK IM OP, your article is still here. It is located at Korsakov Andrey. It takes the Wikipedia Search engine up to three hours for a page to be indexed for it to show up in search results. The article doesn't qualify for speedy deletion and is fairly well sourced so I don't think there is much of a risk for deletion. If you would like to improve it you can add additional sources and expand his biography section. I hope this helps you, --Alpha Quadrant talk 16:44, 3 November 2010 (UTC)
- Hello Alpha Quadrant, you've taken a big burden off my heart)) Thanks a lot for your reply and advice! I'll try to go on helping Wikipedia by expanding and/or editing it. It's a great resource, always ready to upgrade our knowledge when we need it.

Next WP:USPP assessment
Hi Alpha Quadrant/Archive 4! Since Amy Roth's out on maternity leave, I'm pushing out the next round of assessments she needs. This time, we're comparing your assessment to readers' assessments. And instead of us assigning you articles, we're letting you pick! The full list of topics is on a subpage of the Assessment tab on our WikiProject. Please choose 10 of the articles to assess. Use the link in the section title to go to the appropriate version of the article.
Also, as a thank you for all your help, I'd like to send you a small package of Wikipedia swag. Please email me your postal address.
Please let me know if you have any questions! --Ldavis (Public Policy) (talk) 21:53, 3 November 2010 (UTC)

Article 'Roll of the Peerage' on hold
Many thanks for taking the time to look at my proposed article on the 'Roll of the Peerage'. I am a bit baffled though by your reasons for putting it on hold: "We cannot accept unsourced suggestions or sources that are not reliable per the verifiability policy. Please provide reputable, third-party sources with your suggestions. Third party sources are needed both to establish the verifiability of the submission as well as its notability." The article, though brief, is quite heavily footnoted with references to UK primary legislation (specifically one statute and a Royal Warrant), the London Gazette (an official government publication) and the website of a UK Crown authority. As for notability, the subject is a UK Public Record of sufficient significance to have been created by primary legislation under the Royal Prerogative. I'm not sure I can do much more than this, but if you tell me where the article falls short I shall do my best to address the issues. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Fetialis (talk • contribs) 12:20, 8 November 2010 (UTC)

DYK for Johnny Hope
On 13 November 2010, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Johnny Hope, which you recently nominated. The fact was ... that American burglar Johnny Hope, the son of another burglar, may have been part of his father's gang that robbed the Manhattan Bank in 1878, netting nearly $3 million in cash and securities? If you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please suggest it on the Did you know? talk page. |

Hope you don't mind, I indented your comment and removed the diff from it because your comment inside the the template wasn't showing up with an EL in it. Anyway, thanks for your help there—I for one find non-admin clerking of the permissions boards helpful in saving me a bit of time and they can certainly influence the final decision in borderline cases. Keep it up. The rollback requests in particular benefit from the help of experienced non-admins because there are only a few admins who look in on them and most of us are short on time!
