Deletion of page Chilipoker

[edit]

Dear Allen, You deleted a page I was working, is there anything we can do to get this page undeleted? Please advise. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Chilipoker (talkcontribs) 08:52, 10 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Deleteion of Wiikey

[edit]

Hello. Why did you delete the page I created for the Wiikey? I added new information, and made the article longer (as requested in the Deletion Log). I think you should undelete the article and begin a discussion on how to improve the page (if needed) rather than delete it. WiiUser23 (talk) 17:05, 14 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The original justification for deleting it was lack of information. There was new information in my version, and thus G4 doesn't apply. I added new information about the chip, and was planning on adding more later when I had time. Besides, how much information is needed to keep an article? It looks like the only one or two people wanted the original Wiikey article pulled. Doesn't seem logical, if there are articles out there that have substantially less information in them. I say, re-create the article and give it sometime to develop before you cut it down. WiiUser23 (talk) 17:46, 14 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
All the information provided was from the manufacturer’s website. Also, once again I explained I added new information from their site. You don't delete an entire article because I forgot to include the link to the source. You tag it with the appropriate "cite sources" tag. Please restore, and I will add the tag to the information. Deletion of page Jerome Kerviel

[edit]

Why did you just delete the page on Jerome Kerviel??? It looks like what you are doing is vandalism. The Financial Times has named him as the trader being accused of being behind the Societe Generale scandal that is breaking today - the biggest financial fraud of all time. Why did you delete this? My guess is that - being a software engineer in Plano, Texas - you are oblivious what is going on on Wall Street. Again, why did you delete this? It is just going to get put up again. You do not run Wikipedia, or control it. It is not your's.

It's the lead article on the front page of The Wall Street Journal. The Journal is reporting that SocGen itself is naming Jerome Kerviel as the guy behind the fraud. Why don't you want this covered in Wikipedia? This guy is going down in the history books. Go read a financial journal - my guess is you don't know anything about finance or Wall Street, and haven't a clue what is going on. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.129.135.164 (talk) 14:43, 24 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

We have now reversed your vandalism. Do not attempt to further vandalize the Jerome Kerviel page. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.129.135.164 (talk) 14:49, 24 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The deletion was performed because the article was an unsourced accusation of criminal wrongdoing. As per Wikipedia:Biographies of living persons such material is to be removed immediately. Further research has also found that the text of the posted article was a copy and paste of this copyrighted web page, making the article a copyright violation. I have no objection to a valid encyclopedia article being posted, but detected attack pages and copyright violations will be treated in accordance to Wikipedia policy. --Allen3 talk 14:54, 24 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to be a part of the Wikipedia community, then do not vandalize a page by taking it down. If you feel some part of it has been plaigiarized, then reword that part or remove that part AND LEAVE THE LINK UP. Instead, you vandalized the entire page so that there wasn't even a page on this person. And the entry noted that it was the FT that accused him of the wrongdoing, so it WAS sourced. Just make sure you don't vandalize again. I would recommend that you not delete people's work, and let others more competent do it. But you're probably a serial vandalizer - Wikipedia has so many of them - it's one of the things that will prevent Wikipedia from ever becoming a genuine source. Do everybody a favor and just go find something else to do with your spare time. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.129.135.164 (talk) 15:36, 24 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion of page Byre Theatre

[edit]

Hi Allan,

I see from the deletion log that you are the admin responsible for the deletion of the above page.

I have spoken to the managers of the Byre Theatre, and they have agreed that the content I posted on the page is OK to reproduce on Wikipedia for the following reason:

  • The content is broadly a historical statement of facts (and to rewrite it seems a bit silly)

If it's OK with you, can you reinstate the page, please?

If you wish clarification from the Byre Theatre, please contact Emma Stothers (emma.stothers@byretheatre.com) at the Byre, or David Orr, Marketing & Sales Manager, (david.orr@byretheatre.com), who Emma was going to speak to also.

Regards, Gary. Sushiguru (talk) 14:19, 10 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Please see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission#When permission is confirmed for the process to confirm permission to use copyrighted material. Optionally you can rewrite the information in your own words and thus avoid any copyright issues completely. --Allen3 talk 17:10, 10 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Peer Review automation

[edit]

Hi - as I'm sure you have noticed, I've made a proposal at WP:PR to automate the generation of the page, and I expect you were aware of this idea anyway. As you are one of the main wheels that make PR turn over, this proposal needs your input and, after consideration and discussion, your support (I hope). Your expertise on problems that arise with PR nominations would be most welcome, as the proposed automation needs to be robust. Please raise any issues or ask any questions which occur to you. In the long run, I really think this will save you, and other editors, a lot of work, but we need to make sure we get it right from the start. Geometry guy 21:16, 10 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Nick Sitko

[edit]

This dude's been "sitkowned" and outed as a registered sex offender. His story's been on the news and the forum page, located here has nearly reached 1,000,000 hits. I think it's time for a page for this guy to actually stay without being deleted. Also, check this for more information [1] 70.49.204.73 (talk) 10:14, 16 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Just as the sites you link to are free to set their own criteria for inclusion of information, Wikipedia has set its own criteria. Key among Wikipedia's requirements is that all information must be verifiable via reliable published sources with blogs, web forums, and personal websites being excluded from use as information sources due to their unreliable nature. Please see WP:BLP for information on the requirements that must be met for an article on this information to remain on Wikipedia. --Allen3 talk 12:26, 16 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I was thinking of doing a wiki on this, just explaining the skit from O & A but I see you deleted past pages before, I really want to an edit on this, but want to know why you deleted the first ones that was created, I didn't see it so I'm in the dark on this, but I do want to do a Jim Norton mistake of Jimmy Tide 08 only becuase it's become a big thing now, you see it on social networks and websites and even got clothes being sold, get back to me about this okay. The Cleveland Browns are awesome! That's fine, not my first time on wikipedia and I can provide that, what i'm curious about is can radio be included as a media source since that's where the phrase came from. I don't plan on making an article about a fake person in office as much as I wanted to write of how the phrase was keyed as a term. The Cleveland Browns are awesome! Morgan White

[edit]

Allen3 thanks for your note, as I stated in my talk page, we don't have all of the information for the article and are still really new at the Wikipedia format. We don't have any special interest for her other than letting everyone know of her unique abilities. She's been featured in different arenas here in the Atlanta area, so we didn't know how much or how little to put in the article. Other things like, what catagory to put her in and shrinking the picture down we need help with as well. We earnestly want to show the unique talent of a six year old female, who comes from a low income background, straight-A student who has already had to climb some hills to get where she has. We ask that you consider helping us depict her qualities objectively versus having her deleted. We have deleted the "prospect for American Tennis statement until we receive the official statement from the USTA and hope that that will give us more time to build the article. Many regards.74.246.178.162 (talk)

Image undeletion

[edit]

Hi there. It seems two images of Ludwig Wittgenstein have been deleted, probably both for lack of fair use rationales. I was going to ask if you could restore Image:Wittgenstein2.jpg, which was the last image there, but Image:Wittgenstein.jpg might be a better name to use, and it seems to have been the original image. I'm not sure if they're the same, though they probably are (can you see them?). I'm not 100% admins can restore images either, though I know you can restore articles so I imagine you can. I'll add a fair use rationale so hopefully this sort of thing won't happen again (unless they change the policy or something...) Richard001 (talk) 07:21, 27 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Well, can you just undelete Wittgenstein2 and let me add a fair use rationale? It doesn't have to be the upload who adds it, does it? Richard001 (talk) 00:00, 28 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Melbourne 3 Day Event

[edit]

Allen,

I am new to the Wikipedia community, so please forgive me if am naïve to some of your operating protocols.

From what I can establish, you have decided to delete the Melbourne 3 Day Event page from Wikipedia on the grounds of copy right infringement. I was informed of the risk that this may occur by an automated message that appeared on the page when I first added it. I undertook to note on a notice board that this wasn’t a breach of copy right as I am a Director of the Melbourne 3 Day Event as well as one of the authors of the website to which the content is copy written.

The text I have added is a modified version of our home page, which was changed to suit an international audience and also to allow easier linking with other Wikipedia sites. Fundamentally, there is only limited way to say what is articulated, hence the blatant copy/paste of much of the text.

We would greatly value a page on the Wikipedia resource, and subsequently would request to reinstate is at your earliest convenience.

Thank you

Now you will ask me why on the englisch wikipedia?! NIXLE

[edit]

Allen3,

I can't seem to get my page published on wikipedia, "NIXLE". I'm trying to figure out the reference language, but it's quite complicated. I have cited seven references on the page. The page has been deleted three times. Twice article A7 was cited, and the third time I requested a deletion, as it is embarrassing to have a humongous "alert of deletion" box on the page.

Section A7 says that I have not indicated the significance of the post. I don't know how to do that. Where do I indicate the significance? Do I send you an explanation? I've written what I would like to be put in the description of the company. In the reference section I provided links from Fox News as well as a highly regarded organization "The International Speakers Bureau," and a link to the "NLETS" official website.

I don't know what to do.

Please help me solve this problem.

Thanks,

Thank you for the lovely rant. In the future I would suggest that instead of making a bunch of unsupported accusations your efforts would be better spent addressing the issues highlighted in the deletion log for the article. Despite your certainty that the article was deleted due to bias against African-Americans, you should consider the possibility that an article about a webcomic that was created less than a month ago and for which Google is unable to find any reliable sources may not yet be able to satisfy Wikipedia's policy for verifiability. If you are not familiar with Wikipedia's inclusion policies then I would recommend you read Wikipedia:Wikipedia is not for things made up one day for an overview. --Allen3 talk 00:43, 30 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I would like you to reconsider the deletion of Jim Rumph. He was a significant artist during the 70s and 80s. In fact, he is the artist of George Lucas' favorite Star Wars collectible. I entered the very minimum of information about him as I was planning on finishing it this weekend, but wanted to get something in there. Tallstop (talk) 20:45, 30 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

  • I understand your point and I planned on making it more encyclopedic. Unfortunately, there is only one referencable URL on the internet for Jim Rumph, the link I provided. Although his artwork is almost certainly recognizable by anyone who was alive in the 70s, no one took the time to document him or his work. You talk to anyone that knew him, and they can go for hours about how unique he was. I'm trying to tkae the knowledge I know of him and his work and document it here. But I don't want to take the time to write something up nice if you're just going to delete it because there is only one link to him. Is the criteria that there has to be more than one link outside of Wikipedia for him before articles are published? Tallstop (talk) 16:29, 31 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Salting of Lard land

[edit]

Probably not a bad idea that you went ahead and protected Lard land, since a sockpuppet keeps recreating it, although it made it real easy to flush him out, when every new sock recreated the page. —C.Fred (talk) 01:18, 5 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Jabidah Massacre deleted

[edit]

Hello. Apparently you deleted my page 'Jabidah Massacre' for 'blatent copyright infringement', but everything I copied from the page, I sourced. Unless I made some error in sourcing, I don't understand why it was deleted. Reduxx

Jabidah Massacre was deleted as a copyright violation because with the exception of a reworked first paragraph the article was word-for-word identical to the copyrighted text located at http://corregidor.org/heritage_battalion/jabidah.html. Sourcing allows for reuse of ideas and information without plagiarizing, but does not allow for copying of copyrighted sentences and paragraphs. For more information on the basic concepts behind copyright please see Wikipedia:FAQ/Copyright. --Allen3 talk 07:48, 8 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Turkish philosophers

[edit]

Hey Allen3, I'm not sure why you deleted the "Turkish philosophers" page. It doesn't seem to violate rule A3. Could you please clarify why you deleted this page? Thanks! ŁittleÄlien¹8² (talk\contrib) 09:48, 15 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I was asking because I was unsure. Thank you for clarifying things. ŁittleÄlien¹8² (talk\contrib) 09:59, 15 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Clifinar

[edit]

I think that while the idea of having a page for clifinar is ridiculous, it has been spamming the web quite well and Wikipedia should be a resource to explain why suddenly over 2000 pages exist for this useless term —Preceding unsigned comment added by Virtualari (talkcontribs) 09:01, 19 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
