Speedy deletion nomination of Draft:Lobola Man
If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Draft:Lobola Man, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. - @Folkezoft this is a misunderstanding the page is about a movie as I mainly write articles about movies am still gathering information about the movie so I don't see any reason why it's been tagged for speedy deletion Afro 📢Talk! 19:36, 11 September 2024 (UTC)

asilvering (talk) 02:51, 18 September 2024 (UTC)AfC notification: Draft:Lobola Man has a new comment
- @Asilvering The "Plot" section is meant to provide a summary of the film’s narrative without including excessive detail or spoilers that might ruin the experience for future viewers. It should capture the key elements of the story while being concise and avoiding revealing too much, especially twists or the ending. Wikipedia encourages balance covering the essentials but avoiding full spoilers where not necessary.
- Reception (Critical Response) The "Reception" or "Critical Response" section, on the other hand, is where you analyze and report on how critics and audiences responded to the film. This is where you incorporate reviews, ratings, and analysis of the film’s themes, acting, direction, and overall impact. It should focus on summarizing the opinions of various reviewers and how the film was received by different groups (critics, general audiences, etc.).
- It's not expected that you give away spoilers in the Reception section. Instead, you focus on how the film was received whether it was praised for certain aspects or criticized for others without detailing the entire plot. you can always choose a more summarized approach, as long as it provides readers with enough context to understand the main storyline. Afro 📢Talk! 06:31, 18 September 2024 (UTC)
- No, that's not at all correct. The plot section is supposed to be a summary and should spoil the plot. -- asilvering (talk) 06:34, 18 September 2024 (UTC)
- @Asilvering Should spoil the plot ? so why if i may ask ? i have actually come across hundreds of film artcles here on wikipedia with just brief plot summary not more than 142 words without spoiling the plot summary please explain. the "Plot" section of a film article is designed to provide readers with an overview of the film's narrative without going into excessive detail or revealing every major twist or spoiler. The goal is to give enough information to understand the basic storyline while leaving some elements for viewers to discover on their own.
- Here’s a more specific explanation of why this approach is used:
- Plot Summaries Should Be Concise: According to Wikipedia's guidelines, plot summaries should ideally be between 400 and 700 words for most films, depending on the complexity of the story. However, many articles have shorter summaries (sometimes fewer than 150 words) for simpler plots. It’s entirely acceptable to keep the summary brief, focusing on key points while omitting detailed spoilers.
- Spoilers Aren’t Necessary in All Cases: Wikipedia doesn’t require every plot summary to include spoilers. The goal is to describe the story as objectively as possible, and sometimes that can be done without giving away crucial elements like the ending or major twists. Many editors aim to strike a balance, offering enough information without fully revealing the film’s surprises.
- Wikipedia Readers Have Different Needs: Some readers visit a Wikipedia film article before watching the movie to get a sense of what it’s about. Others may read the plot summary after watching to clarify certain points. A brief, non-spoiler summary can serve both audiences effectively, offering context without ruining the experience for those who haven't seen the movie yet.
- Not Every Film Needs Detailed Plot Analysis: Some films have straightforward plots that don’t require in-depth breakdowns. In such cases, shorter summaries are common and accepted, provided they accurately reflect the film's central narrative. Films with more intricate plots may warrant longer summaries that explore more details.
- In short, while some film articles do contain detailed plot summaries that might spoil the entire narrative, it’s not a strict requirement for all articles. Many editors choose to focus on brevity and avoid revealing key plot points, especially for films where surprises or twists are integral to the viewer’s experience. If you come across articles with very short summaries, it’s often because they achieve this balance successfully. Afro 📢Talk! 06:45, 18 September 2024 (UTC)
- @Afrowriter, I'm beginning to wonder if you are using generative AI to write these responses and plot summaries. Is that the case?
- Our guidelines for plot summaries are at MOS:PLOT. You're not expected to spoil every single possible part of the plot, just the ones that are encyclopedically relevant - like, well, the ending. Explicitly, it states
"Teaser"-style or incomplete plot descriptions (e.g. ending a plot description with "In the end the family makes a shocking discovery…") should not be used.
Right now, the Lobola Man draft explains the premise of the movie, but not so much the plot, ending in a teaser description:As the story unfolds, both Ace and Duke are forced to confront their personal beliefs and relationships, leading to unexpected outcomes.
