Thanks for noticing my error
Hi Adrian - thanks for the heads-up regarding my erroneous posting to BenediktG's user page instead of his talk page - all the best to you from sunny Singapore Hugh Mason (talk • contribs 12:39, 30 January 2010 (UTC)
- And thanks for the heads-up on the possibility to change user name here. I wasn't aware that was possible. All the best Hugh Mason (talk • contribs 09:24, 31 January 2010 (UTC)
Crowd-funding
- Hi and thanks for you attention! I think Talk:Crowd_funding#First_Paragraph needs your attention again... BenediktG (talk•contribs) 14:00, 01 February 2010 (UTC)
Thanks for paying attention to the Crowd-Funding article. Wikipedia is taking a place as frequently The quoted source. I do, and I think many with me, expect to find on Wikipedia the consensused and updated definitions of basically most things in a specific manner. This is leading Wikipedia into a citation problem like you point out - especially when things change fast like in "what is Crowd-funding". Mass-media uses Wikipedia probably more for such rapid changing and new definitions than other definitions - and I suspect they hope and sort of expect to find a two-liner in first paragraph. The work-around moving parts of history into the first paragraph might be the road to avoid continuous collisions about "how to define this right now" - but I think it is a dangerous road for Wikipedia as such. Something for us to think about... :) On page Talk:Crowd_funding I have left two comments, about your suggestion to resolve first paragraph in the article about Crowd-funding, and also about the suggested merge of mass into crowd. Feynman point
Since you contributed to the article Feynman point, I'm asking you to respond to this question. Thank you. --bender235 (talk) 23:07, 7 February 2010 (UTC)
Thanks- Tagged
Just want to say thanks for what has turned out to be a fruitful collaboration on the Tagged wikipedia page. It's been a tough but rewarding process and want to thank you for assisting and I appreciate the effort. --MarinaKSF (talk) 05:05, 9 February 2010 (UTC)MarinaKSF
My talk page
Hi Adrian can you check out my talk page. Thanks Allthingsonline (talk) 01:22, 2 March 2010 (UTC)
Hi Adrian, hope your well! Can I ask when do you anticipate on merging? If you cannot complete can you delegate? Thanks Allthingsonline (talk) 00:42, 22 March 2010 (UTC)
Hi Adrian! Replying to your talk on my page. Yes, the deletion of other languages was a definitely a mistake, gosh, thank you for the save! Also thanks for the DMOZ clarification, that makes sense. That article is getting quite tight. Wishing you a fun week, Knotaholic (talk) 05:32, 10 May 2010 (UTC)knotaholic
NICEv2
I finally got the new version of NICE to a good state. I'm still testing the code so there isn't any documentation yet, but I was wondering if you were still interested in testing it. In order to lead it up, add the following line to your monobook.js (or vector.js):
importScriptURI("http://wikipedia.grouplens.org/NICEv2/NICE.js")
Note that the script is being loaded from the grouplens.org servers. It also sends logging information back to us (a simple message when you click the controls in the interface) so that I can monitor how the interface is used. I'll have a switch to turn logging off by the time it is ready to go live. Please let me know as you discover any problems. --EpochFail(talk|work) 16:37, 18 March 2010 (UTC)
- I thought I should point out that, once I'm relatively satisfied with state of the code, I'll move it from the Grouplens servers to be hosted in Wikipedia. It is just easier for me to make modifications to it like this in the meantime. If you don't feel comfortable pulling the script from our servers, let me know. --EpochFail(talk|work) 17:12, 18 March 2010 (UTC)
I just dropped another response for you at User_talk:EpochFail/NICE#Posting_revert_messages_in_duplicate. --EpochFail(talk|work) 22:25, 2 April 2010 (UTC)

These two Definitions : they'll be found in Wikitionary ; ASAP the transcriptions & will be done.

Help!
Help! Luitgard (talk) 00:38, 24 April 2010 (UTC)
- Good, for a second I was afraid Adrian J Hunter might be an impartial observer. Guess not.UnnotableWorldFigure (talk) 00:39, 24 April 2010 (UTC)
- UWF, I just asked him for help as he seemed sane, nice and knowledgeable, and at the time, you seemed crazed and obsessed! I had no way of knowing that there was some sort of event coming up that would cause a spike in readership for the article and perhaps that's why it was so important for you to edit it. Luitgard (talk) 00:59, 27 April 2010 (UTC)
- Adrian, the protection of the Tseng article is about to expire. I'd love to see your draft for the intro so we could start working towards a consensus. Regards, Luitgard (talk) 00:59, 27 April 2010 (UTC)
Tunick
His work needs to be seen in the wider context of nudity in public - its normalization, how unshocking it is. The Calendar Girls phenomenon shows (and will show readers in the future) what the social context of ST's work is. The article doesn't mention him, that is true, because he is only part of the "nudity trend" not its originator. In 20 year's time people might say, "And in those days, this kind of nudity was really pushing the boundary." If they look further, they will see it was not. Something else was going on in the art. "Feel good" events for the middle aged and overweight seeking legitimacy by concentration camps references. Jagdfeld (talk) 12:18, 3 May 2010 (UTC)
Kind Words
Thank you for your kind words on my talk page. I immediately recognized the statistic cited and had the reference handy. When I saw your post I feared for the "thanks for your edit but you did it wrong" post! Also thanks for the Welcomeg template...I wasn't aware of it and had only been accessing the cheatsheet to find relevant topics/policies/etc links. Thanks again! Jasmine edits
- Thank you for your welcome, and for your gently-offered advice. My copyediting skills are, in the main, what I have to offer Wikipedia right now, since substantive editing takes so much longer. That said, if you come across articles with brief sections in need of copyediting to normalize them to standard (US) English, I'd be glad of it if you'd the time to throw one my way now and again—it's past time I began giving back to this site. Again, my thanks— Scientiae (talk) 20:32, 17 May 2010 (UTC)
Postscript: Further edited italics/punctuation/article links to meet the MoS guidelines. Thanks again. Scientiae (talk) 21:28, 17 May 2010 (UTC)
Commercial Site Replica eggs
You are quite right. Many thanks. I've replaced the link with this Italian site [1] which apart from using the scientific names ony only. I far better. There is a book notice on the home page (behind the girl-It is Italian)but that's all.Best regards from Ireland Robert aka Notafly (talk) 09:58, 18 May 2010 (UTC)
Email redaction
Thanks so much for your thoughtful heads up in protecting a contributors e-mail address in this edit. They are making some great contributions to Wikipedia enzyme articles and the last thing we want to do is attract a deluge of spam to their private e-mail accounts. Cheers. Interview request: The newbie experience, revert communication
As I'm concluding the study related to the NICE user script, I'd like to ask you some questions over the phone about your experiences with and ideas about Wikipedia. The questions will be related to how you interact with new editors and the way you communicate when reverting. This chat should take about 45 minutes to an hour. If you are interested or need more details, please let me know. --EpochFail(talk|work) 20:14, 1 June 2010 (UTC)
- If it would be more comfortable or convenient, we can do the interview via voip(skype) or instant messenger(gtalk, ICQ, AIM, etc.) as well. I'll also submit a $10 donation to the WMF upon completion of the interview as an indirect way of thanking you and the community for accommodating us researchers. --EpochFail(talk|work) 16:24, 3 June 2010 (UTC)
You are now a Reviewer
Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, is currently undergoing a two-month trial scheduled to end 15 August 2010.
Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under pending changes. Pending changes is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial. The list of articles with pending changes awaiting review is located at Special:OldReviewedPages.
When reviewing, edits should be accepted if they are not obvious vandalism or BLP violations, and not clearly problematic in light of the reason given for protection (see Wikipedia:Reviewing process). More detailed documentation and guidelines can be found here.
If you do not want this userright, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. Courcelles (talk) 02:22, 18 June 2010 (UTC)
Thanks
Thank you very much for signing up for the July Backlog Elimination Drive! The copyedit backlog stretches back two and a half years, all the way back to the beginning of 2008! We're really going to need all the help we can muster to get it down to a manageable number. We've ambitiously set a goal of clearing all of 2008 from the backlog this month. In order to do that, we're going to need more participants. Is there anyone that you can invite or ask to participate with you? If so, we're offering an award to the person who brings in the most referrals. Just notify ɳorɑfʈ Talk! or Diannaa TALK of who your referrals are. Once again, thanks for your support! --Diannaa TALK 20:22, 22 June 2010 (UTC)

Reminder
Hi! This message is just a friendly reminder that you signed up to participate in the GOCE Backlog Elimination Drive. I noticed that you haven't logged a single copy edit yet. We'd love to see you participate! The drive runs three more weeks so there's still plenty of time to earn barnstars. Thanks! --Diannaa (Talk) 22:31, 9 July 2010 (UTC)
GOCE Newsletter
Greetings from the Guild of Copy Editors Backlog Elimination Drive! We have now passed the halfway point, so here's an update. Progress Report - Progress toward the targets has been good. 751 articles out of the approximately 1,600 we would like to get completed by the end of the month were done by July 15, so we will be very close to meeting the target for volume. However, we would like to clear all of the 2008 articles from the backlog, and there are still 892 left to do. Please consider choosing one of these older articles when looking for something to copy edit. If we focus our firepower we can completely wipe out 2008 from the queue. Participation Report - 95 people signed up for the July drive. This is a great result compared to May, when we had 36. However, in May only one person that signed up didn't do any copy edits, and in July only 59 of the 95 have posted any copy edits on the big board. The task may seem insurmountable but please remember that if all 95 participants copy edit just one article a day from now until the end of the month, we will eliminate 1,300 more articles from the backlog. So please consider participating at whatever level you can! All contributions are appreciated. This newsletter was prepared for the GOCE by Diannaa (Talk), S Masters (talk), and The Raptor Let's talk. |
Dermatology
Any interest in dermatology? If so, we are always looking for more help at the Dermatology task force, particularly with the ongoing Bolognia push. I can e-mail you the login information if you like? There is still a lot of potential for many new articles and redirects. Just let me know. ---kilbad (talk) 18:18, 31 July 2010 (UTC)
Barnstar
The Modest Barnstar | ||

GOCE Backlog Elimination Drive Wrap-up
Greetings from the Guild of Copy Editors July 2010 Backlog Elimination Drive. Thanks to all who participated in the drive! Over 100 editors—including Jimbo Wales—signed up this time (nearly triple the participants of the May drive). This benefited the Guild as well as the articles in need of copy editing. You can see from the comparison graphs that we increased the number of completed copyedits substantially. Unfortunately, we were not able to meet our goal of completely wiping out 2008 from the queue. We also were not able to reduce the backlog to less than 6,000 articles. We suspect people were busy with real life summertime things, at least in the northern hemisphere! We were able to remove the months of January, February, March, April, and May from the backlog, and we almost wiped out the month of June. We reduced the backlog by 1,289 articles (17%), so all in all it was a very successful drive, and we will be holding another event soon. We'll come up with some new ideas to try to keep things fresh and interesting. Keep up the good work, everybody!
