Home and Away Wiki

I read your comment on Talk:List of Home and Away characters about setting up a Home and Away Wiki and how you'd serve as admin. If you need someone to put in an official request and nothing else, I'd be happy to do it. But while I'd be happy to contribute, setting up, running or keeping such a site in order is a bit beyond both my free time and by abilities. I would be willing to discuss it further though. Skteosk (talk) 21:05, 12 July 2009 (UTC)

Sure, if you would be willing to make the official request, I would be glad to serve as an administrator or importer. Best, --A NobodyMy talk 02:15, 13 July 2009 (UTC)

I made the request but turns out...it already exists! Guess no-one did much with it... Skteosk (talk) 08:19, 13 July 2009 (UTC)

Thanks for pointing that out; I have requested adminship so as to be able to import their on the lone bureacrat for that wiki's usertalkpage, but he hasn't edited since April, so not sure how that will work out. Best, --A NobodyMy talk 16:02, 13 July 2009 (UTC)

rescue template

Do you really think Gerfnit is rescuable? A character in a self-published novel? Don't waste the impact of the template on such as this. DGG (talk) 00:27, 13 July 2009 (UTC)

Yes, at least as a redirect to improve the novel's article if possible. If not, no big deal. Best, --A NobodyMy talk 02:15, 13 July 2009 (UTC)
a redirect, sure, but that's not what the template is for. It's for getting additional material in a article to save it from deletion, not getting attention at the AfD. If there's no likelihood the material will exist or will save it, there is nothing to do but try to get the redirect. We can work on only a limited number of articles, and there needs to be some triage. DGG (talk) 02:23, 13 July 2009 (UTC)
I hope that perhaps someone could find sources I have not found as the name seemed interesting and all; if not no big deal on this one. With it being part of the book's title it seemed that maybe something could be done with it. In any event, see Wilmette Life - NewsBank - Nov 18, 2004 Mike Pickard, The Gerfnit Chronicles. The Highland Park resident says, "I originally created the story as letters to my daughter at overnight camp, ..." Might have some out of universe context in the full article; I would like to help more here, but I feel I owe it to Matthewedwards and Orderinchaos to be focusing on those soap opera ones. Take care! Best, --A NobodyMy talk 02:25, 13 July 2009 (UTC)
One thing I've learned here is not to waste time on self-published fiction. In the last 2 years I remember one exception, that might have made it if we went by popularity but got deleted because there were no reviews; I'll have to find it again and see if there are finally reviews. I consider local papers, especially home-town papers, inadequate for proof of notability of a book, because they are indiscriminate. DGG (talk) 03:47, 13 July 2009 (UTC)

You manage to attract all sorts of attention! BOZ (talk) 11:37, 13 July 2009 (UTC)

Neither did I. Thank you. I'm also back in action after having to take a couple of days off. For whatever reason my phone line shorted out, and it's taken Verizon four days to get their asses here to fix it. Matthewedwards :  Chat  01:04, 18 July 2009 (UTC)

You added a little light to my day with the Happy Bastille Day! wishes, so here is a little light for yous. LA @ 07:07, 17 July 2009 (UTC)
Ribbon

A Nobody...Thanks for your Happy Bastille Day wishes, though I am neither French nor Republican. (I will have to look up why Republicans celebrate it some time.)

I noticed on the top of both your user page and talk page here that you have a lot of little icons denoting all the articles of which you are proud. Those icons are covering up the page names however, so I have made a little template that you could use to organize them a bit better. Please take a look at User:Lady Aleena/User article contributions. Hope it helps. LA @ 07:07, 17 July 2009 (UTC)

Cool. If you would like to try it on my page, please do not hesitate. Best, --A NobodyMy talk 04:24, 18 July 2009 (UTC)
I switched it, I hope you like. LA @ 07:04, 18 July 2009 (UTC)

If you see anyone else who might be in need of that template, please send them to it. I like making templates to help out other users get their work together. BTW, I had your good articles and DYKs in date order, if you were wondering. :) LA If you reply here, please leave me a {{Talkback}} message on my talk page. @ 18:26, 18 July 2009 (UTC)

Maybe I Should Just Say It Here

Thank you for the kind Bastille Day greeting. Maybe I should just say what I have to say here and omit some details.

I had an account a few years ago, and I got far too addicted and tried to battle all of the injustices of Wikipedia myself, which was impossible. Wikipedia is an unjust place, it's best just to accept that at this point I suppose. If Jimbo's cabal wanted to figure out who this account was, they probably could at this point. I doubt they really care though.

However, I still have nightmares every now and then about those days. I try to ignore Wikipedia, but there are so many idiots that treat it as a trusted source now despite that fact that they have no idea how it works. I doubt I will ever get closure. That's why I made this account. Unfortunately, this account is ruined now, so I don't know what to do.

It'd be nice to go back to the old days where I liked editing Wikipedia and everybody acted like you. I'd settle for just not being angry at the fact that it sucks so badly now. Spinach Monster (talk) 04:35, 16 July 2009 (UTC)

You are welcome and thank you for the kind words. I have two thoughts: 1) if Wikipedia is causing you actual nightmares, then it may be worth seeking out more enjoyable avenues in life as it certainly not worth mental stress; 2) but at the same time, never let anyone bully you away. I suppose trying to find a balance is the way to go; i.e. when frustrated, take a break and do something fun and then come back rejuvenated.  :) Best, --A NobodyMy talk 04:30, 18 July 2009 (UTC)
I think you've got the right idea. If I could, I would walk away, but if you're going to use the internet, you're going to run into Wikipedia at some point unfortunately. I'm going to take your advice and take a break for an unspecified time frame with the intent of returning, that way I don't think i'm giving up on it. I can finally retire this screenname, but who knows? Maybe one or more of my incarnations will meet with you in the future here on Wikipedia. Thank you again for your aid in this as well as everything else. Spinach Monster (talk) 21:05, 19 July 2009 (UTC)
You are welcome! Best, --A NobodyMy talk 17:03, 20 July 2009 (UTC)

I don't know if you're interested in a preemptive rescue, but I think fiction is one of your interests. This article was prodded as it isn't based on reliable sources. I deprodded. Unless it can be sourced better the prodder will probably send it to Articles for Deletion. Some rewriting based on reliable sources wouldn't go amiss; I'm struggling with finding sources focussing on this aspect of the Terminatorverse. Fences&Windows 19:09, 31 July 2009 (UTC)

Hello! I am going to be heading to bed soon, but it is indeed a major aspect of the franchise. I would suspect that at least DVD special features might have some out of universe information. Is there a Terminator Wikiproject? And if so, have you notified them? Anyway, I will watchlist it and keep an eye out (too tired to think much now as it is already 4 AM...). Best, --A NobodyMy talk 08:09, 1 August 2009 (UTC)
I've let major article contributors know, and the SF Wikiproject. Any help would be appreciated, I got very lost trying to dig up sources. Fences&Windows 14:16, 1 August 2009 (UTC)
It seems a few of these are being targetted and so I am looking at them all and seeing what I can find, as I did here. Best, --A NobodyMy talk 18:15, 1 August 2009 (UTC)

The "Notability" matter

Someone just tried to elevate "Notability" to a policy by categorizing it as "content policy". I undid the categorization, but I would like to make you aware of it as it is one of those quiet ways in which a controversial "guideline" might be raised to a policy.[1]--Drboisclair (talk) 14:56, 5 August 2009 (UTC)
