Source for Web browsers graph ?

[edit]

Hi,

This message is about the SVG you made about alternative web browsers' market share (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Webapps.svg). It is certainly very useful (I didn't know Safari was this high) , but I couldn't find your source for the numbers you use. Is it the stats of a specific website (such as W3 Schools) ? Is it a survey ? Is it a study by a webmetrics company (such as Xiti Monitor) ?

Adding this information is very important, since we know that alternative web browsers market share depends on things like country of origin, whether or not the user is tech-savvy, and even day of the week (more IE during work hours) ! Regards Ksempac (talk) 11:17, 10 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

  • I must apologize. I just found out there is a link to your source in the caption for each article. But why is it not directly in the graph or at least in the description of the image ? Ksempac (talk) 11:26, 10 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Oxford Wikimania 2010 and Wikimedia UK v2.0 Notice

[edit]

Hi,

As a regularly contributing UK Wikipedian, we were wondering if you wanted to contribute to the Oxford bid to host the 2010 Wikimania conference. Please see here for details of how to get involved, we need all the help we can get if we are to put in a compelling bid.

We are also in the process of forming a new UK Wikimedia chapter to replace the soon to be folded old one. If you are interested in helping shape our plans, showing your support or becoming a future member or board member, please head over to the Wikimedia UK v2.0 page and let us know. We plan on holding an election in the next month to find the initial board, who will oversee the process of founding the company and accepting membership applications. They will then call an AGM to formally elect a new board who after obtaining charitable status will start the fund raising, promotion and active support for the UK Wikimedian community for which the chapter is being founded.

You may also wish to attend the next London meet-up at which both of these issues will be discussed. If you can't attend this meetup, you may want to watch Wikipedia:Meetup, for updates on future meets.

We look forward to hearing from you soon, and we send our apologies for this automated intrusion onto your talk page!

Webapps.svg

[edit]

I happened across your really slick looking web browser graph, and I was curious about how you created it. Looking at the source didn't indicate any certain applications like Inkscape or Illustrator, so I'm guessing that you coded it by hand. Nonetheless, I'd sure like to hear about your method if you get a chance.

Regards,

Not to sound crass, but how do you know about the possibility of being ranked 40th? I couldn't find a citation. –TashTish (talk) 06:38, 8 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Haystack (software) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about about a person, organization (band, club, company, etc.) or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable. You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. iBentalk/contribs 00:05, 9 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free image File:P64 1.7.0.49 supermario64 hi-res.png

[edit]
⚠

Thanks for uploading File:P64 1.7.0.49 supermario64 hi-res.png. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Skier Dude (talk) 04:04, 12 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Non-free rationale for File:Total Annihilation - Battle Tactics Front Cover.jpeg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Total Annihilation - Battle Tactics Front Cover.jpeg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under non-free content criteria, but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia is acceptable. Please go to the file description page, and edit it to include a non-free rationale.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified the non-free rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 09:19, 20 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Notification of automated file description generation

[edit]

Your upload of File:Canada and USA Flag.png or contribution to its description is noted, and thanks (even if belatedly) for your contribution. In order to help make better use of the media, an attempt has been made by an automated process to identify and add certain information to the media's description page.

This notification is placed on your talk page because a bot has identified you either as the uploader of the file, or as a contributor to its metadata. It would be appreciated if you could carefully review the information the bot added. To opt out of these notifications, please follow the instructions here. Thanks!
