MyGreenPC is a Remote control software, also known as Remote desktop software, service that lets users access their PCs remotely via Internet. MyGreenPC has integrated support for Wake-on-LAN(WOL) technology and allows its users to remotely Power-On/Off their PCs.
Technology
[edit]MyGreenPC is a remote pc access service that boasts Wake-On-LAN technology integrated within its software[1]. Since the users don't have to leave their PCs running all the time, this could result in substantial electricity savings especially at facilities with tens possibly hundreds of computers [2]. The service, however, does require one-time router configuration and possible motherboard BIOS configuration before being able to take advange of remote power-on feature.
Security
[edit]MyGreenPC design is based-on tamper-sensitive concept i.e. if during a session a single bit of data is changed, it will result in disconnection of the remote session[3]. Thus ensuring that the security of the connection is not compromised. Both software & website use Advanced Encryption Standard cipher to encrypt all data.
A unique feature offered by MyGreenPC is instant One-Time Password(OTP) feature. It allows users to register their Email or Mobile phone number with MyGreenPC[4]. Later, when accessing PCs remotely through a Public computer, users can request an OTP which is sent to them instantly via their preferred method - Email or SMS. Then the users can use the 6-digit OTP to login to the MyGreenPC Client. This ensures that if the Public computer had a keylogging software/hardware, it would be rendered ineffective because the OTP will expire as soon as it is used in MyGreenPC client.
Features
[edit]MyGreenPC is currently offering two different types of accounts - Basic and Premium[5]. The only difference between the two being the usage limitation for Basic accounts. Both accounts include following features:[6]
