Trinelise (also spelled Trine-Lise) Væring (born 2 July 1965) is a Danish singer, composer and lyricist. She broke through in 1995 with an acoustic jazz album of her own English-language songs, but has since moved into the rock and indie pop genre, most recently with three Danish-language albums.

Væring, who has been described as ‘one of our most exciting and challenging female musical artists’,[1] has received special recognition for her lyrics. In 2008, she received Thøger Olesen's first prize for the lyrics ‘Thorkild og Ulla’ (from Lystfisker); in connection with the release of Umanérlig in 2011, Politiken described her as ‘one of the most fiercely personal songwriters playing their game in Danish.’[2]

She has released seven albums under her own name and five CDs under various band names, including four in collaboration with saxophonist and composer Fredrik Lundin.

Væring has twice received the Danish Arts Foundation's award for ‘Best Music Release’, in 1997 for In So Many Words and in 2010, with pianist Jonas Berg, for the song cycle Oh Purity.

Stylistically, she has been compared to Rickie Lee Jones[3] and Lucinda Williams;[4] she herself has pointed to Janis Ian as her original inspiration[5].
