The Fourth Presbyterian School was a private, covenant Christian school in Potomac, Maryland as an extension of its parent organization, the Fourth Presbyterian Church in nearby Bethesda. The school was a small school that for many years only served pre-kindergarten through sixth grade. In the fall of 2011, the school added seventh grade, and in 2012, eighth grade and preschool for three-year-olds were added to the range.[4] The school was located on 32 acres of wooded area. Due to low tuition and funding, the school was forced to close at the end of the 2013-2014 school year.[5]
Campus
[edit]Although the school is now closed, all of the structures are still intact. Located on a hillside surrounded mostly by woods, the music and arts building is located on top of a steep hill, next to a building of administrative offices. Closer to the entry to the school from South Glen Road, a bathhouse, kiddie pool, and recreational pool remain next to a basketball court and a large athletic field. Towards the back of the campus at the bottom of the hill, there is a hexagonal "snowflake" building where preschool, kindergarten, first grade, and second grade were taught and where the principal and headmaster held their offices as well. Adjacent to the school were two modular buildings where third and fourth grade were located, as well as a writing center and a media center. In 2010, a building for fifth through eighth grades were added near the back of the modular building, and a large multi-purpose gymnasium was added in front of it as well.
