[edit]It was announced in March 2021 that Ed Harris would direct the film from a screenplay he had written. Robert Duvall, Garrett Hedlund, Amy Madigan and Lily Harris were cast to star.[2][3]
Filming began by May 2021, with shooting occurring near Fort Benton, Montana.[4]
When asked about the status of the project in a June 2022 interview with USA Today, Harris confirmed:
“ | We've only shot 18 minutes. I've been trying to raise money for this movie for 18 years; it's a really great role that Robert really, really wants to do. But I'm not sure Robert's gonna be able to do it because he's getting up there and had a little trouble walking. But we'll see what happens. I've been living with it so long, I'm not sure what the future holds. | ” |
— Ed Harris[5] |
In May 2024, the project resumed development now starring Bill Murray, Owen Teague and Nick Nolte, with Duvall and Hedlund no longer part of the cast. Madigan and Lily Harris were still attached to their roles.[6]
