Professor Penguino's Laws
[edit]- Be Kind. This one's kind of obvious, but how could I not put it here?
- Citations in the lede section won't end the world. Calm down.
- Following the rules of Wikipedia to the letter doesn’t work for every situation. Sometimes you need to bend the rules a bit. Except for WP:CIVILITY or WP:CV… those are too important.
- Be generous in your encouragement. Especially for new editors.
- Disregard anything a vandal says. They may insult you and mock you, but just remember that those are people who are spending their time vandalizing Wikipedia articles.
- You don’t have to know anything about a particular topic to edit its Wikipedia page. It’s better, obviously, but not required. I know a fair amount of history and edit lots of history, but I don’t know anything about video games. However, I can interpret what reliable sources on video games say, and summarize it accurately.
Pro tips
