Peter E Jörgensen, aka drpj, is a retired information technologist now splitting his time between Florida and the Hudson Valley. He grew up in Staten Island, NY, Englewood, NJ, and Syracuse, NY. He earned a BS in Forest Biology before spending the next several years living in a Tipi, building a log cabin, hosting a folk music radio show called "Live at Laurel", helping to run a nascent food coop and teaching. Then he met Corinne Johnston Lyon and her three kids and fell in love. They were married on December 30, 1982 and soon after returned to his teenage home of Syracuse, NY. After a brief stint as a Sun Buddy (retrofitting insulation in homes) he began his career in IT as a graduate assistant for Phyllis Kent at Syracuse University. While earning his MS in Information Resource Management he moved to Colgate University and Hamilton, NY. At Colgate he collaborated extensively with Dr. Dierk Hoffmann developing interactive hyper-media systems for teaching languages and presenting critical editions. Corinne and he moved to Buffalo after she received her PhD and accepted an assistant professorship at the University at Buffalo. Peter worked for Academic Computing as a faculty support specialist. He also taught classes for the School of Library Science and pioneered Internet-based video conferencing with James Whitlock [1]. In March 2000 he taught one of his classes using the IP video conferencing technology he and Whitlock developed from the Netherlands. This is thought to be the first trans-atlantic use of this technology. He received his PhD in Communication from UB with a dissertation titled "Continuous analysis of internet text by artificial neural network". He and Corinne then got positions at FSU from which they both eventually retired. He now spends his free time volunteering at folk-music festivals, bird watching, playing a variety of instruments and tinkering. His big projects are a 1976 Saab Sonett and a 1946 Century Seamaid 15' runabout.
