Eve Hewson (born on 7 July 1991) is an Irish actress. She is the daughter of U2's lead singer Bono and Irish activist Ali Hewson. She was named after being born on 7 July at 7:00; "eve" is the middle of the word "seven".[1] Hewson's current partner is actor James Lafferty.‪[2][3]

Early life

[edit]

Hewson was born in Dublin in 1991, the second daughter of Bono and Ali Hewson. She has three siblings: older sister Jordan and younger brothers Elijah Bob Patricus Guggi Q and John Abraham. She was educated at St. Andrew's College in Dublin and attended New York University (NYU) prior to becoming an actress.[4]

Career

[edit]

Although her father and mother were against Hewson performing,[5] she made her acting début in 2005 alongside her sister Jordan in Erica Dunton's short film Lost and Found.‪[6]‬ She made her feature-length début in 2008 in another film directed by Dunton, The 27 Club.[7] The same year Hewson took part in an acting programme at the New York Film Academy. In 2010 she appeared in the music video and accompanying short film for Irish band The Script's song "For the First Time".[8]

In 2011 Hewson appeared alongside Sean Penn and Frances McDormand in Paolo Sorrentino's This Must Be the Place, playing the role of a young punk called Mary.[9]

She will play Yvonne in an upcoming thriller film called Blood Ties by French director Guillaume Canet.[10]

Personal Life

[edit]

Despite of being the daughter of Bono and Ali Hewson and having grown up with all kind of possibilities, she has said: 'My parents work really hard to make sure that we don’t feel entitled. They just don’t spoil us. They want us to work for things.'[6]

Her mother once described show business life as 'tough and lonely and not what you want for your child'. But after all this time she and her husband are completely supporting their daughter's acting career. [6]

'They’re excited about it now, almost too much. They’re like obsessed parents, but it’s cute.' - said Eve.[6]

The young actrees doesn't profit of her parents wealth, she has told how she was banned from their duplex penthouse in San Remo building on Manhattan's Upper West Side.[6] Eve current home is a small apartment near NYU that she shares with a fellow undergrad. She told the Belfast Telegraph wryly in Mrach 2012, that her parents' house is out of the reach of herself and her friends.[6]

Eve is dating actor James Lafferty, “One Tree Hill” TV show's leading actor.[11]‬ They met in 2007 while filming The 27 Club – a movie about rock stars dying young.[6]
