Minooka, at one time was it's own city complete with it's own fire department, and annexed with the city of Scranton in the 1960's against the wishes of most Minooka residents.
ChurchMinooka has one Roman Catholic Church, St. Joseph's Church. Recently St. Joseph's Church has become part of a larger Parish community named Divine Mercy Parish. This change was due to the closing of surrounding churches and their parishioners joining St. Joseph's Parish.
