Personal attacks are attacks directed to a contributor. It is advised that people comment on content, not on the contributor. Personal attacks include "ur a fag" or "go to hell".
Sometimes, people talk in a manner that constitutes properly accusing people of improper behavior, or warning people, etc. that is often mislabeled as a personal attack. People often mislabel things as personal attacks in an attempt to get away with their disruptive behavior.
What is not a personal attack?
[edit]Always remember what is considered to be a personal attack before accussing someone of a personal attack. An argument will not be a personal attack if...
- ...it is a warning concerning your behavior.
- ...it is an accusement of sock puppetry with evidence (though doing so without evidence is a personal attack)
- ...the user has reported you to noticeboards with evidence for your behavior
