Hallo Joyous! I have a question about your message: You ask me not to add inappropriate external links to wikipedia. When I compare the 2 links I added to other existing external links on certain webpages, I see that the 'appropriate' links (i.e the ones you leave alone), are also links to external -third party- organisations, such as our European organisation (STHOPD) is too. Our non-profit organisation works with volunteers and stands for certain principles which are similar to the 'appropriate' organisations on the webpages concerned, such as: Decreasing human overpopulation in an ethical way, having no children, warnings about the worldwide consequences of overpopulation such as the destruction of ecosystems. Please explain to me what would make our links appropriate. Friendly regards, 213.84.166.83 18:33, 21 January 2007 (UTC) MetaMouse.

Rhydin page deletion

[edit]

I was just curious to know why the Rhydin page was deleted. I found it helpful in explaining to people new to RP what it all was and where it was taking place. In addition to an explanation (to satisfy my curiousity) was also hoping it could be recovered and if so, if you could be convinced to set it up again.

Yes um, why did you delete the artical i was working on. i realize it wasnt up to standereds, but thats becuase i wasnt done writing it, the finish artical will sight its sources, and is important to manny people, it is relevent, and therefor should be an artical, i have for this reason started it again, it would be apreciated if you would wait to delete it till im done writing it

The authors of this page, which you deleted, have re-added it for the second or third time. Seems to a group of users: [1]. Welcome your attention on this issue. Saganaki- 07:21, 5 February 2007 (UTC)

No, not a group of users. You could just ask, Saganaki. I added the page with the initial copy as a placeholder for a work in progress so that others could fill in with further details and sources. I'm not sure what's going on here, but the reasons for deletion change constantly. Would appreciate some actual clarification as to why anonymous Wikipedia users object to the article (no, not just "it's spam! soapboxing!" and so forth). Thank you. --Juha 07:54, 5 February 2007 (UTC)

Hello there.

[edit]

Hello there, I am wondering why you took off my page on the Arthrogryposis site? If you click on the site you will see that I am not self promoting but offering more help for people to learn! I am not trying to criticize your editing efforts, because I think that it's great people are on here doing these sorts of things. But my entire life is about helping people, not wanting things for myself. And the entire scissor gait article that you changed, I added a BIO about my site and project because I have sent it to people in the medical profession that are now taking notice of it. I am the only person out there that uses this style of walking to help improve their quality of life and independence. So please check out the link that you deleted. I did add it back because it is there to help. go to my web site to observe for your self. www.projectscissorgait.2ya.com

Speedy deletion of Talk:Adam Lewis

[edit]

A tag has been placed on Talk:Adam Lewis, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done for the following reason:

There are other people worth mentioning on wikipedia by the name "Adam Lewis". An article rather than a general redirect should be created to allow other articles with this title to be created by users

Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not meet very basic Wikipedia criteria may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as an appropriate article, and if you can indicate why the subject of this article is appropriate, you may contest the tagging. To do this, add {{hangon}} on the top of the page and leave a note on [[Talk:Talk:Adam Lewis|the article's talk page]] explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm its subject's notability under the guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this.

I have proposed the redirect for deletion as other Adam Lewis articles are waiting to be created. If you feel the need to contact me please feel free. Gibmetal77 14:48, 13 March 2007 (UTC)

Summer Stretch

[edit]

Hi Joyous,

Thanks for the heads up about the article Summer Stretch. I do wish to contest the possibility of deletion, so here's a copy of my defense for the article. Of course, I leave the decision up to you.

Hi Joyous, thanks for the heads up on possible deletion of this page. After reviewing the criteria in the article What Wikipedia is not, I can only conclude that this article does not fall under any of the no/no categories. The topic of this article is an educational organization/system, which I believe is acceptable under Wikipedia guidelines. However, as a junior member of Wikipedia, I defer to your judgment, and if you believe that this article should be deleted, that's ok.

USGP

[edit]

Sorry, wasn't signed in before. This was discussed during the FAC (see here) - it comes down to the fact that the competitors, governing body, tyre (or tire!) manufacturers and series are all Europe based (even the two Japanese teams, although not Bridgestone, which is based in Japan). The source material is largely written in UK English too. Wikipedia's policy on use of variants of English seems to be to leave them alone unless there is a compelling reason to change them. As I said in the review, although you can argue that the article should be written in US English, the case for UK English is as good or better, and that's what it was originally written in. 4u1e 07:04, 30 May 2007 (UTC)

Are words nonsensical?

Do you find the English language nonsensical?

EDIT: Good point, I did come up with it one day... but I use the word =/ There is no article currently up for "Povern" so why not let me put it to good use?

POST-EDIT: How would I know when it is appropriate to create an article for the word? At what point of the word's life-span, assuming it survives this modern-day, should I consider making a Wikipedia article? Thanks for the tip!

PPE: Alright, and one more thing, can you delete the article Zikro? I am the creator and I realize I have nothing more to add, and what is already there, is not enough. I will reconsider the article in the future if I can ever find the origin of the word, but those texts are long lost so I doubt I'll ever land my hand on the origins ever again.

PPPE: I'll review the links and hopefully can make some true, long-lasting contributions. Thank you.

Thanks for the posting. The article seems to have vanished anyway. Would it be bad form to write up a proper entry for his comic strip Barkeater Lake? Again, I'm not related or involved with the strip in any way, other than as a reader. Thanks for any help/advice! --Tenebrae 22:13, 15 July 2007 (UTC)

Really? I don't think I was aware of that. I notice that there was no Emmure wikipedia page and there was an Emmure (band) wikipedia page, and I thought that didn't make sense. So, yes, I did some cutting and pasting. I cut every bit of information from the Emmure (band) wikipedia page and moved it to the page I created, the Emmure page. I didn't really donate any information to the article, I just did what I thought made sense, by moving the Emmure (band) article to the Emmure article, and the making the Emmure (band) page a redirect page. If it's a copyright violation of their homepage, then that would probably be due to the past editors.

Okay, thanks for that insight then. It seems that my transaction with the Emmure profiles wasn't a perfect one anyways. Some other person told me that clicking the move button on the top would be better.

Ernest Shackleton

[edit]

Hi, I followed all of your suggestions regarding this article and looked up a bit more info on the infamous advertisement. What I found was that, basically, it's been attributed to various expeditions (not surprising considering it most likely doesn't exist). I'm not sure what we should do with the rumour, though. If you'd prefer we can move it to the Nimrod or Endurance section, delete it entirely, I put it some, different, third place. I left some sources/links on the article's talk page if you want to take a look. Thanks again! Lazulilasher (talk) 01:12, 29 December 2007 (UTC)

I'm replying at Talk:Ernest Shackleton Joyous! | Talk 01:32, 29 December 2007 (UTC)
(reply to your reply) Thanks. Yeah, I was thinking about Shackleton the other night so I decided to look up his article. Anyway, he's a total rock-star and deserves a good article--haha. Anyway, I was thinking about adding the rumour bit into the "Legacy" section and maybe changing that to a "Cultural References" bit....what do you think? as I believe its fairly important (as I found about 1,000 references to the ad on Google books). Thanks for your work, too--that's the cool thing about wikipedia: you run into an article and have the idea that you can make it better, and you do. Then, ten minutes later someone else comes along and makes it even better. Lazulilasher (talk) 03:46, 29 December 2007 (UTC)
I think he would have been pleased to be called "rock-star." I think it's a great idea to mention the ad in the "legacy" section. Fits better there than in any of the expedition-specific sections, I think. Joyous! | Talk 03:49, 29 December 2007 (UTC)
