An Ironbox is an IRONic taxo-, info-, nav-, user-, [etc] BOX which may or may not summarise what it describes depending on the the context (or otherwise). It isn't deliberately designed to disinform though by pure chance it might not just manage to avoid doing exactly that. It is best neither to use them not wisely nor without aforethought.[Nota Non Male 1] A disinfobox is a specific type of Ironbox.
The term includes not only obfuscating or otherwise confusing -boxes but also all unuseful template messages used throughout the English Wikipedia. Some Ironboxes probably ought to be downgraded to Woodenbox status while others can simply be melted down and the slag removed.
Notes
[edit]- ^ This advice does not require no double negatives: you should not do nothing about clarifiying the language of templates but sometimes these double negatives are not unhelpful.
