Hi, I am a woman and I like literature and Wikipedia, I contribute for free for my own pleasure as a hobby, I no more for any paid stuff on Upwork. As a contributor, I usually grab one topic and dig in it, correct little by little, check the sources, read, check again until I hope it's excellent. I create pages not business-oriented but with academic references and sources to proof notability. I respect Wikipedia spirit.

Heralune's desk - Story of my contribution...
[edit]As a beginner, I entered this field in August 2018, I invested myself a lot in creating articles and adding elements to pages. I thought I would receive some friendly help and a positive surrounding from other contributors. It is the promise on the first page of Wikipedia ! It's far from today.
What you should know, I have sometimes a complementary activity, freelancer on Upwork, for copyediting and translation, and I receive regularly proposals for Wikipedia editing. At this time I ignored the mindset for exclusive volunteering, I was not aware that contributors think a paid article would be dirty, not neutral and promotional, a basket full of conflict of interests. I was far from this reality. I just took opportunity to have a direct contact with a source and to train myself and as a bit perfectionist wanted to make a great job.
So I created a page for author Amit Offir, for 40 usd, less the fees on Upwork, it is my first contact for a paid article on English Wikipedia. Of course, it's symbolic price as I probably spent 30 hours even more on the work. Initially, I studied his case, asking for sources and reliable facts, I estimated this author was legitimate to have a page, even I knew he attempted many times to create by his own a page, which was deleted, it was obviously promotional and not following the wikipedia policy. Unfortunately, after many weeks of work, I published the page which was, without any opened discussion (or maybe I missed it but where is it ????) my page was immediately deleted by only one contributor, who seems to be at high rank. Are there human being behind this platform ? This high rank contributor did not contact me, we are not people making the job, we are just cyber entities !! No care.
Is it worth it to follow up my contribution ? It's a dictate not a collegial project. No kindness, no help, no advises. I would have liked to improve my job among the community, but there is no options. In the name of past errors, we cannot correct anything. Mistake of the past are never forgiven, it's an indelible stain. I am sure my work about Amit Offir was following the Wikipedia requests, as it was my very concern. Nobody took time to check my references and sources on the new page I created, nobody gave time to improve and correct it just because this page was wrong in the past and my page was simply assimilated to it, without any consideration. Wikipedia is not democratic. On my path, so far I met a majority of narrow minded contributors that act like a police...I feel sad about the global functioning, feedback I get after few months of contribution is mostly unattractive, and from my point of view, it is not good for future of the project, discouraging for new entrants.
Thanks for your comments.
Tonight I finished late my page about Linda Cable, it was not that easy to make all the bulk sources she sent by email in a chronology, well organized and synthesized. I found myself many sources on internet and was glad to add it as my personal contribution. To be cautious, I published a request on the TeaHouse, for some help, I prefer a contributor looks at my work first, before publishing. I would be so affected if my page were immediately deleted again. Waiting.... Today, November 14th
I have receive a nice comment and help from Theroadislong, who warned me that IMDb, Youtube and Discogs are not considered reliable sources :-(( What to do for an artist ? I can remove the IMDb and Discogs (yes because it's a merchant, but had good datas) .... but YouTube only hosts the archives we need to proof some performance of the artist on TV shows and movie. I tried to avoid the YouTube uploading a video (had to understand in MP4 doesn't work, need to convert online in ogg, yes in OMG !!!) but today this video was under deletion from Wikicommons.... also all the pictures from her by the way, ALL..... I wrote it was sent by Linda Cable herself, it's her own archives, by email. But what to do ? Ok... to be followed.
Last detail, I really wanted to submit my new article to the great Wikiproject AfC but it is a minimum 2 months waiting for review. I will try to polish the article myself with some kind help around. Today, November 16th
So I had great help to ask my article for review, i learned how to put the link, and my article was rejected for lack of sources. Now it's stored there until I solve the issues https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Linda_Cable/ I disagree Linda Cable is not famous enough to have her own article, I would never accepted to write her an article if she didn"t provide enough for notability criterias. Let me show you,I found many article with so so poor sources and lack of notability, for example this one https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_Vignoni...why Linda Cable who is a famous jazz singer in Australia, is less notable than this clipart designer ?.... I am speechless.
Today, November 20th, I try to find more sources about the career of this jazz singer. I will try the live help desk to have another point of view. Only one person said my articl doesn't have enough sources as it has a lot. I have seen so many other singers and musicians with so much less. Never minde, I have been told that having an article published is also by chance, going through censors, or having some good vibes, it's kind of magic.
Today 2023
[edit]I decided long time ago to stop fighting with paid contributions and I did my own way, which is taking one page and check everything as much as possible, dig into the subject and improve at the maximum. I try to make slowly some excellent pages. That's all and it is how I see things. Thanks for your comments.
