Bio
[edit]I am a 32 year old wife and mother of two busy boys. I am currently in my first quarter at Everett Community College taking pre-requisites in hopes of getting into the Nursing program. I currently work as a Certified Medical Assistant and I enjoy cooking and being outdoors in the Pacific Northwest with my family. While I am excited to be furthering by education, I'll admit, I am a little nervous about starting as student in my thirties and balancing the aspects of life that myself and my family have become accustom to. However, I am looking forward to the challenge and figuring out a new normal.
This is my first time being involved with Wikipedia and I cannot say that I am very familiar with the site aside from what is pulled up by Google when I search a topic. Since learning more about this site, I am amazed at how much goes into creating and editing pages as well as in the talk section. Some of the interests that I have that I would like to research further and possibly contribute to are diet and nutrition related topics, travel, and US history specifically related to conspiracy theories.
Article critique
[edit]While I was looking into my genealogy, I came across the name Salvino Salvini. He was an Italian sculptor in the late 1800’s. I decided to do some research and see if there was a Wikipedia page for this person. I visited the Salvino Salvini page on Wikipedia, and found three aspects of the article worth commenting on: the lack of citations, spelling errors, and the lack of information.
Citations
[edit]There are only two citations in the article. The first is from an online Italian encyclopedia and the second is uploaded images from an Italian history book located in the Harvard College Fine Arts Library. Both seem to be reliable sources, however, there is much more stated in the article about Salvino Salvini’s art work as well as where he studied and taught throughout Italy that is not cited. I would like to see more citations from reliable sources in the article to show the validity of the information.
Spelling errors
[edit]There are two spelling errors in the article. The first is in the last sentence of the first paragraph under the Biography section. The word yearing should be changed to yearning. The second is the name Niccola Pisano in the first sentence of the second paragraph under Biography. The correct spelling for Niccola, is Nicola.
Lack of information
[edit]I was disappointed that there was not more topics or information in this article. The article does not include any information about Salvino Salvini’s early life and family. There is also no information about his art influences (besides who he studied under) or how he was drawn to sculpting. I also feel that images of his sculptures would be a great addition to the article.
Summary
[edit]Overall, I feel that the article has a lot of good information about Salvino Salvini and where he studied, taught, and his notable works. The article could use more citations to prove the validity of the information that is stated and should include information about the artist's early beginnings and influences as well as images of his art. I have corrected the spelling errors in the article that were mentioned above.
