Annetta Laufer is a British filmmaker known for directing the Doctor Who special Eve of the Daleks. Laufer has also worked on other films like the musical crime drama Blue Story.
Life
[edit]Annetta Laufer is Jamaican-German and was born in the United Kingdom. Laufer grew up in Germany but spent a significant amount of time in Jamaica during the summer.[1]
Career
[edit]Laufer founded Roman Candle Productions, a film production company, in order to make films featuring women of color who "were not relegated to mothers of drug lords or oppressed Asian women in saris". [2]
Laufer's short film "The Arrival" was featured in the 23rd American Black Film Festival under the Emerging Directors and Music in Motion Showcase.[3] Laufer was a script supervisor for Blue Story.[4] It was announced that Laufer would direct the Doctor Who special Eve of the Daleks on December 5, 2021.[5] It was broadcast on January 1, 2022.
