Hi,

LuciferMorgan said you are an excellent copyeditor... and I have seen your name splashed everywhere across WP (at FARC etc.).. we are working on Taiwanese aborigines for a move to FAC in the near-to-middling future... I wonder if you would be available to offer comments as a review, or perhaps some of your copyediting skill, etc.?

I deeply appreciate your time & trouble!

  • If you can — thanks! If you can't — thanks! :-) Either way, appreciate your contribs to WP. --Ling.Nut 02:36, 3 April 2007 (UTC)
Thanks for your comments on the Taiwanese Aborigines page. Any bit of your time is already enough. Thanks! Maowang 12:58, 9 April 2007 (UTC)
Ditto what maowang said. Thanks for your comments! --Ling.Nut 15:09, 9 April 2007 (UTC)

Template

[edit]

Hi Sandy. Feel free to add or remove from the FAC urgents template if you think articles need feedback/already have enough. — Deckiller 23:22, 3 April 2007 (UTC)

I was wondering what criteria you use for adding, so I'll know what to do. For example, I only add FARs that are controversial, don't have consensus, or really need help. How will you keep all 70 FA candidates (sometimes) from being added? SandyGeorgia (Talk) 23:26, 3 April 2007 (UTC)
I've been including FACs with fewer than three support, oppose, or neutral votes. Of course, there is some flexibility; if an article has three one-liner supports, or two major opposes, I'll adjust accordingly. — Deckiller 23:29, 3 April 2007 (UTC)
Would you care if I add the ones that bug me; that is, the ones that get overwhelming "fan" support even when sources aren't reliable?  :-)) SandyGeorgia (Talk) 23:30, 3 April 2007 (UTC)
I guess, although I'd prefer to keep it a relatively small list (4-6 listings at a time would be ideal). Perhaps we can pick the six with the most issues or the smallest amount of feedback. — Deckiller 06:28, 4 April 2007 (UTC)

Request for copyedit

[edit]

Hey Deckiller, when you have time, can you copyedit the entire Wikipedia? Thanks, man. ;) MahangaTalk 02:54, 3 April 2007 (UTC)

The Copyeditor's Barnstar
This request: "Hey Deckiller, when you have time, can you copyedit the entire Wikipedia? Thanks, man. ;)" by Mahanga shows you're one of our best copyeditors. Because of this, I think you deserve the newest barnstar on Wikipedia as of 20:22, 3 April 2007 (UTC). · AO Talk 20:22, 3 April 2007 (UTC)

You're welcome. Yes, I am thinking about working on another article. We're going to start another collaboration soon (probably on AoE II), so I'll work on that, and I'll see if I can fix up Rise of Nations. Also, I'm helping another couple of users with AoE III. What about you? · AO Talk 22:05, 3 April 2007 (UTC)

Input needed

[edit]

I was wondering if you could look at the Star Fox: Assault page, specifically the story section. A couple weeks ago, a user removed all the refs that went in that section. I asked him why, his response is at User talk:Piemanmoo#Refs removed. The section looks silly with no refs in there now, so I wondered if he was correct in removing them? Thanks. Thunderbrand 17:23, 3 April 2007 (UTC)

Thanks. I appreciate it. Thunderbrand 23:35, 3 April 2007 (UTC)

your message

[edit]

Thanks for your kind note on my talk page. Yes, back to find that people have been getting away with murder on FAC and FAR/C. Glad to see that you're making a mark, too. Tony 21:42, 4 April 2007 (UTC)

Homer's enemy

[edit]

I'm having diffuculty resolving the sentence "Homer attempts to befriend Grimes; however, Grimes ends up hating Homer, and declares himself an enemy." - Can you do something with it? Thanks. Ceoil 20:17, 5 April 2007 (UTC)

Can you take another look, I think the article passes now. Ceoil 20:37, 7 April 2007 (UTC)

If you've got a few minutes...

[edit]

Would you mind giving your thoughts on the Devil May Cry article? It's been changed quite a bit since your comment in the FAC, most notably the Reception portion has increased in size. Cheers, LankybuggerYell ○ 20:28, 5 April 2007 (UTC)

Homer FAC

[edit]

It's all in the nitpicking, and don't let them tell you otherwise.

More generally, we're meeting two worn-out strategies for countering prose reviews in the FAC room: (1) "you're pushing your personal style on everyone", and (2) "how can I respond to such a general statement as 'the whole text needs copy-editing" (after clear examples have been given).

These rebuttals need to be taken on every time they appear. Some people just hate having their prose criticised, and think it's not an important aspect of writing an article. I suspect some feel very exposed when told to fix the whole thing up (via networking). Too bad; they want a gold star. Tony 22:05, 5 April 2007 (UTC)

Thanks; I've checked it out, and it looks as though all is preserved (and I corrected a newly introduced grammatical error. Oh well. Tony 07:48, 6 April 2007 (UTC)

WT:CVG archiving

[edit]

Hey Tyler, thanks for archiving the CVG talk pages and adding the topic headers to the "archive topics" page. I really appreciate others picking this up since it's one of those tasks that nobody wants to do but needs to be done. Cheers, JACOPLANE • 2007-04-7 11:11

Homer's Enemy

[edit]

I just wanted to say thank you for your help with copyediting on the article. With luck, it will pass now. Currently, several members of the Simpsons WP are pusing to get season 8 to featured topic status, and if you would like to help out (even if it's just by looking over a couple articles), it would be much appreciated. Find more here. Thanks again, Scorpion 21:45, 7 April 2007 (UTC)

Regarding your edits to Devil May Cry

[edit]

Hey thanks for all the copyediting you did on Devil May Cry, you did a great job you certainly know how to do this kind of thing, Cheers! - 21:49, 7 April 2007 (UTC)

question

[edit]

Hi! When you communicate with other users, please try to use complete sentences and full words instead of shorthand phrases and abbreviations. Clear and fluent communication will guarantee that you:

  1. articulate your ideas clearly;
  2. are not insulted;
  3. do not appear to be insulting others;
  4. are taken seriously; and
  5. appear professional and mature.

Please take this advice into consideration so that you can improve as an editor. Thanks for helping Wikipedia! — Deckiller 22:05, 7 April 2007 (UTC)

Well 1st, in what manner should I post 2 ur page? O my gosh. This is why I feel like I am target. I understand if I'm told 2 respect another's user page/disc page. But what about respecting me? In the past 2 hrs I've been tolds about my color, font, disc page, & userpage. Now it's how I type? How do I report admin abuse, b/c a person may only take so much! Lilkunta 22:17, 7 April 2007 (UTC).

I am merely trying to give you some pointers, but if you feel that you are being treated unfairly, please respond directly to those you feel are acting uncivil. If that doesn't work, I recommend taking a look at Wikipedia:Resolving disputes. However, uncivil behavior does not necessarily fall under administrative abuse, because it does not involve abuse of the tools. — Deckiller 22:21, 7 April 2007 (UTC)

My problem is not with you. Ur post 2 me was polite & fine. I am having trouble with other admins. I've asked repeatedly to be left alone. I feel like every time I post I get a slew of posts with -with warnings, -telling me that I'm wrong.

I dont quite understand, I'm unable to get help bc admins rnt abusing tools? Lilkunta 22:37, 7 April 2007 (UTC)

This is too funny :) JACOPLANE • 2007-04-7 22:26

Changes at Wikipedia:Featured article review/Representative peer; pls revisit. SandyGeorgia (Talk) 23:04, 7 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit]

Can you clue me up on Featured lists please? I nominated one for removal per 1c which had no cites whatsoever and just one reference (a Portuguese book), but everyone's voting keep. To be honest I'm wondering what the hell's going on. If that's what FL's are, then I urinate on their ashes (sorry if that offends you). Since you seem to have been around on Wiki for awhile, I just thought you could provide some info. LuciferMorgan 23:16, 7 April 2007 (UTC)

Thanks, I just wondered. I explained the criteria I felt at fault, but everyone's voting keep which is odd. I'm fully aware of the 1c dispute with FAs, but it has 0 cites and one reference which isn't even English. Seems like an open and shut case. LuciferMorgan 23:51, 7 April 2007 (UTC)
