I have only ever used Wikipedia for research assignments when it comes to common information that I know cannot be wrong because it is common knowledge, for example a science project about parts of the cell or information about a recent weather event that occurred. It is usually my last resort for assignments, especially those where I need valid sources, but I've never edited or had an account before now. I find it useful in some cases. Most of my teachers and friends tell me not to use Wikipedia. In fact, I have had teachers take away points for using it. That is because to them, it is more like a blog for people to write what they know than valid truthful knowledge. I personally think the idea of editing Wikipedia as a graded assignment is new and I'm open to it.
