History

[edit]

1990's and 2000's

[edit]

Founded in 1999, Jetfly initially operated as an owner club using Socata TBM 700 aircraft.[1] In 2004, the company received its first Pilatus PC-12 and launched a fractional ownership programme for this aircraft. In 2009, Jetfly took delivery of its first Pilatus PC-12 NG. [2]

2010's

[edit]

In 2010, Jetfly's ownership evolved: the company's founders sold their stake to a new group of investors headed by Cédric Lescop and Maxime Bouchard[3]. In 2012 Jetfly decided to exclusively concentrate on the Pilatus PC-12, expanding its fleet to 15 aircraft. In 2014, Jetfly acquired a Pilatus-authorized maintenance center in Bournemouth, becoming an approved provider of maintenance services for the Pilatus PC-12.[4]

In 2018, the company officially launched its fractional ownership programme for the Pilatus PC-24, marked by the delivery of its first aircraft[5][6].

In 2019, Jetfly acquired Fly7, a company based in Lausanne that manages privately owned aircraft[7]. Additionally, Jetfly established a second maintenance center in Zweibrücken (Jetfly Technik), positioning itself as the second-largest Pilatus maintenance facility in Europe[8][9].

2020's

[edit]

In 2020, Jetfly received the first PC-12 training simulator in Europe, operated by Fly7 Training in Lausanne[10].

In 2021, the Jetfly Fractional Ownership programme reaches 350 aircraft owners in all Europe, the UK and Switzerland[11].

In 2022, following Brexit, Jetfly established Jetfly UK to manage flight operations within the United Kingdom[12].

In 2023, Jetfly's fleet grews to 35 aircraft. Combined with Fly7, the group oversaw a total of 65 Pilatus aircraft, making it the operator of the largest Pilatus fleet in the world in 2023[13].

The following year, the company introduced the Cirrus Vision SF50 with the delivery of 3 aircraft[14]

Business model

[edit]

Jetfly sells shares of aircraft. The size of a share corresponds to the owner’s in-flight needs. The commitment with Jetfly is formalized through a purchase and management contract.

Once an owner gets a share, he benefits guaranteed access to the aircraft with 18 to 48 hours' notice, anywhere in Europe and 24/7 service availability. If the owner's aircraft is unavailable for some reason, a comparable or larger aircraft will be provided instead.

Environmental initiatives

[edit]

Jetfly has implemented a range of initiatives and strategies for efficient fleet management.

  • Jetfly covers the costs of empty flights, so the company strives to minimize these by maximizing occupancy and reducing the frequency of empty flights whenever possible.
  • Seat sharing: the Jetfly customers have the possibility to open their flights to other customers to fill the aircraft and optimize the flights.
  • Fuel efficiency: by operating a modern and efficient fleet of Pilatus PC-12, Jetfly minimizes fuel consumption.[15]
  • Sustainable Aviation Fuel: the company promotes SAF to its customers thanks to the Jetfly SAF Programme.
