I have a personal interest in David Stewart Dawson. He built the house I own in Springwood, New South Wales, in 1920. I have researched all of the Stewart Dawson family and written their biography, to be published later this year (2022). Watch this space for the announcement of the publication. David crafted his life story carefully. As a result, there are many myths and misconceptions about his origins, how he built the business, the complexities of his property ownership (particularly of the Strand Arcade), and his tangled personal life.
