merge documentation for this template
[edit]Someone needs to merge the documentation from Template:WikiProject College Basketball with Template:WikiProject College Basketball/doc as the template page does not correctly reference the doc subpage. Set theorist (talk) 09:43, 18 April 2012 (UTC)
- To editor Set theorist: a /doc page has been created. All protected templates should have separate documentation, so apologies for the long wait. P.I. Ellsworth , ed. put'r there 07:43, 26 October 2022 (UTC)

Incorrect capitalization of the display name and link to the WikiProject. It says 'College Basketball' but it should be 'College basketball' --> basketball shouldn't be capitalized. SportsGuy789 (talk) 00:03, 26 October 2022 (UTC) SportsGuy789 (talk) 00:03, 26 October 2022 (UTC)
- Not done for now: please establish a consensus for this alteration before using the
{{Edit template-protected}}
template. This project page was renamed by an administrator in 2010 to "standarise banner name", so a rename now is considered controversial and should be supported by garnering a consensus of several editors. P.I. Ellsworth , ed. put'r there 07:27, 26 October 2022 (UTC)- @Paine Ellsworth: I don't think you understand my request. The WikiProject itself does not capitalized 'basketball'; look at the name of Wikipedia:WikiProject College football and then look at Wikipedia:WikiProject College Basketball. They are the same except for the sport they represent. Consensus is not needed when Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Capital letters#Sports, games, and other activities clearly states Sports, games, and other activities that are not trademarked or copyrighted are not capitalized (except where one contains a proper name or acronym, or begins a sentence). This includes groups of sports or games (winter sports, carom billiards, trick-taking card games), traditional sports including modern ones (field hockey, triathlon, BASE jumping).... - Your request isn't that hard to understand, my friend. You quote a subpage of the Manual of Style, which in its first sentence reads, "This Manual of Style (MoS or MOS) is the style manual for all English Wikipedia articles..." Articles, mainspace articles, are the encyclopedic pages of this reference work, so the MoS does not apply to your request, which is to modify the name of a WikiProject in its working template. Your idea might be rejected by project members, so it requires you to achieve consensus. P.I. Ellsworth , ed. put'r there 17:09, 26 October 2022 (UTC)
- The main article has been decapped without affecting the present name of the WikiProject. P.I. Ellsworth , ed. put'r there 17:39, 26 October 2022 (UTC)
