purpose

[edit]

An editor has been applying "whosequote" tag to articles where i have used quotes with attribution, then changing this template so that it might possibly apply. The template reads "Use this tag: [who said this?] for quotations that are used without attribution." I don't agree that this should be changed. I reverted change back to this. --doncram 22:21, 25 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I created this template explicitly for the purpose of tagging quotations that have reference citations, but do not identify whose words are quoted. I think I should be entitled to document the purpose of the template I created. --Orlady (talk) 19:14, 26 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Category

[edit]

I don't think that Category:Articles with unsourced quotes is the correct choice for this template. It was intended for quotes where the source was given, but where the context doesn't make clear who is speaking. An example would be a political quote sourced to a specific Newspaper and page, but with no indication of which politician or commentator is speaking. -- John of Reading (talk) 14:26, 8 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I just now created Category:Articles with unattributed quotes for use with this template. --Orlady (talk) 17:16, 8 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
