Numbered list

[edit]

I edited the documentation, and wrote that "bulleted or numbered list" is supported, but did not actually checked the latter. Does it work? The template code is too complex to me to tell offhand. It would be nice if it could be supported, at least for consistency (it could be potentially useful). No such user (talk) 12:42, 10 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

No, it doesn't support numbered lists. It's designed specifically for lifting lists from dabs which always use bullets. The template is spec is still being discussed (Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Disambiguation#Disambiguation pages in a list article) and may change. In particular, we may make the list into a sublist and add the title as a leading main list entry. If someone wants a more generic template for other uses then perhaps we should move this one aside so they can reuse the title for whatever they want to write. I think including numbered lists would be as simple as checking for * or # rather than just *, i.e. replace %* by [*#] and [^*] by [^*#]. Certes (talk) 14:20, 10 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I saw that discussion. A followup question: if the source page is a redirect, will it be correctly followed? If so, that would alleviate concerns about page moves, since {{Transclude list|Whatever (disambiguation)}} would always transclude from the dab page, whatever its actual location was. Yes, redirects are followed. (The template doesn't do anything clever in that respect; it's part of the usual transclusion process.) I've added support for bulleted lists. I've also added comments to the code, though that's not something we normally do, especially for such a small template. Certes (talk) 14:26, 15 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
