After creating this template, I sought feedback here and here. Subsequently, a (possible) bug was reported here.

Lua implementation

In order to remove the 45 entries limitation and make it more manageable, I have implemented this functionality in Module:Succession table monarch. It looks fine in all the pages I tested it. Image parameter doesn't work with .png files
