[FeatureRequest] Linking to multiple articles at one go

[edit]

Can a feature be added so that multiple external links to MathWorld (e.g. Vertex cover#External links) can be combined into one single line. --Siddhant (talk) 17:08, 7 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I have added that option through use of {{If}}. Hyacinth (talk) 22:33, 5 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

[FeatureRequest] Make one out of 'id' or 'title' optional

[edit]

Most times, we want the 'title' the same (but with spaces in between of words) as 'id'/'urlname'. Can one of these, 'title' or 'id'/'urlname' be made optional ? --Siddhant (talk) 17:14, 7 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

last and first for author names

[edit]

The CS1 cite templates like {{cite book}} and {{cite journal}} use last and first for author names (except for some cultures where is usually isn't done, in which case author is used). Adding them here may be a good idea. Jason Quinn (talk) 23:30, 9 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

If Wikipedia had installed Extension:StringFunctions...

[edit]

If Wikipedia had installed the following MediaWiki extension

Extension:StringFunctions

then, via the extension, the id parameter could be inferred (in the majority of the cases) from the title parameter. Did Wikipedia chose not to install the extension because it is considered expensive, serverwise? — Tentacles mailto:Tentacles 03:19, 30 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Using the Module:String#replace function to make "urlname" from "title"

[edit]

I see, Wikipedia uses the Lua Module:String instead. May I use the Module:String#replace function to make "urlname" from "title"?

[http://mathworld.wolfram.com/{{urlencode:<!--
-->{{#invoke:String|replace|<!--
  -->{{#invoke:String|replace|<!--
    -->{{#invoke:String|replace|<!--
      -->{{#invoke:String|replace|<!--
        -->{{#invoke:String|replace|<!--
          -->{{{id|{{{urlname|{{{title|{{{1|}}}}}}}}}}}}<!--
        -->| |}}<!--
      -->|'|}}<!--
    -->|^|-}}<!--
  -->|*|Star}}<!--
-->|ä|ae}}|PATH}}.html <!--
-->{{{title|{{{2|{{PAGENAME}}}}}}}}<!--
-->}}]

If someone gives me the approval, I'll do it. — TentaclesTalk or mailto:Tentacles 18:55, 11 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

This would only be for templates that don't already have the urlname parameter filled in, right? If so it seems harmless and useful enough. —David Eppstein (talk) 21:43, 11 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I wanted to try it in the sandbox, but since the template can accept two links, it would mess up everything when unnamed parameters are used. If two unnamed parameters are used, it could be: id and title, id and id2.
{{MathWorld
| id = {{{id|{{{urlname|{{{1|}}}}}}}}}
| title = {{{title|{{{2|{{PAGENAME}}}}}}}}
| id2 = {{{id2|{{{urlname2|{{{3|}}}}}}}}}
| title2 = {{{title2|{{{4|{{PAGENAME}}}}}}}}
| author = {{{author|[[Eric W. Weisstein|Weisstein, Eric W.]]}}}
}}
It would have worked well if there was not a second link option. — TentaclesTalk or mailto:Tentacles 02:13, 12 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

What about a "titleref" parameter

[edit]

With a titleref parameter, one would not have to manually do ([[#Reference-Mathworld-Gigantic Prime|Weisstein]]) but {{MathWorld|titleref=Gigantic Prime}} instead. I'll do it if get the approval. — TentaclesTalk or mailto:Tentacles 18:07, 11 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

update template to HTTPS

[edit]

The template currently points to http://mathworld.wolfram.com/. This should be upgraded to use SSL: https://mathworld.wolfram.com/ 64.246.159.246 (talk) 00:12, 18 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I converted this to an edit request since I believe that was the OP's original intent. Spectrum {{UV}} 2604:2000:8FC0:4:68BA:3B32:8613:8B6D (talk) 04:03, 18 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
never mind, this was already done. Spectrum {{UV}} 2604:2000:8FC0:4:68BA:3B32:8613:8B6D (talk) 04:05, 18 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
