- Not done: please make your requested changes to the template's sandbox first; see WP:TESTCASES. Add it to the template where? Best way to make sure it's done as you expect is for you to sync and change the sandbox. - {{[ping| Technical 13}} ordinarily, I'd agree with you, but when certain regular editors, like Dough4872 who edits a lot of American highway articles, make a simple request, it's just easier to accommodate the edit request than to turn him away with a "sandbox it first" mentality. - What's the point of this? These are internal designations for PA 283, PA 380, and PA 99 (which conflict with Interstates). There's no such thing as and never has been any PA 300, PA 400, or PA 699, only SR 0300, SR 0400, and SR 0699. The only place these internal designations should be mentioned is in the articles on those routes, the main list, and maybe in the articles on the Interstates they conflict with. They don't belong in the browse any more than any other nonexistent routes. --NE2 01:31, 8 March 2015 (UTC)

- @Jleedev: according to Pennsylvania Route 299, it still exists. Even if it were decommissioned today though, it would still have its marker graphic appear in the appropriately used places, so I'm denying this request pending further explanation of why it should be made. - @Jleedev: If that highway has been decommissioned, add the date for such a change to the infobox on Pennsylvania Route 299 and the headers will change from green to gray. Requesting that <snip> |Turnpike={{#switch:{{{state}}} <snip> |FL=Florida's Turnpike shield.png <snip> be replaced with <snip> |Turnpike={{#switch:{{{state}}} <snip> |FL=Florida's Turnpike.svg <snip> Thanks in advance. Arlo James Barnes 02:20, 19 May 2018 (UTC)
- @Arlo Barnes: The new file does not look like the old one, so I'm going to reject this request at the moment and ask for clarification that the signs match the SVG version and not the PNG version. Imzadi 1979 → 02:35, 19 May 2018 (UTC)
- I thought that photos of signs in use might help, but there seems to be annoying variability -- not only in whether the Turnpike itself is depicted upon the peninsula, but whether the keys are shown. http://www.floridasturnpike.com/sunpassages/15.summer/95-express.html shows keys and Turnpike. http://floridasturnpike.com/sunpassages/16.fall/Okahumpka-Service-Plaza-Landscaping.html shows neither. file:FL_Turnpike_Okahumpka_area01.jpg shows turnpike but not keys. I think file:Florida_44_@_I-75_Eastbound.JPG is a neither; file:Wildwood turnpike sign01.jpg is clearly Turnpike-only, file:EB_FL_50_@_Florida's_Turnpike_Interchange;_June_18,_2011.jpg too. Of course, some of these are quite old. The only reason I can think why the road's official site would vary from the signs is that, while it used to be that the road 'logo' was the signs, it might have diverged. @Imzadi1979: This might be a case of the problems resulting from what they call in the OpenStreetMap world 'armchair mapping'; perhaps a Wikimedian living nearer the Turnpike had better verify on the ground the current state of affairs. Or maybe FDOT could be contacted. When the truth is found, I would be happy to update the SVG to match, and export to PNG to get concord on that file too. Arlo James Barnes 03:07, 19 May 2018 (UTC)

To match {{jct}} and other states, Oregon and Washington should use the conventional Interstate shield rather than the "big" variant, as specified below:

There doesn't seem to any precedent from WSDOT and ODOT about using the standard or big variant, as both are widespread, but most publications seem to use a standard shield. SounderBruce 05:36, 4 October 2018 (UTC)

Iowa shields
[edit]Since images specifically exist for Iowa highway shields, can they be used instead of the standard elongate circle shields within this template? An Errant Knight (talk) 02:44, 7 July 2019 (UTC)
- Iowa has been moving away from purely circular shields the last few years, so it's not really worth it any more. I created quite a few of those files or updated them to look the way they do now and I don't even use them any more. I stopped using them because the differences between them and the circle signs are so insignificant that only a pedant would care, and I no longer do. –Fredddie™ 03:10, 7 July 2019 (UTC)
