Template:Examine → Template:Examine Wikidata item – Expand overabbreivated template name * Pppery * it has begun... 00:18, 21 November 2020 (UTC)
Oppose. What are the criteria for "overabbreviated"? When developing and debugging modules on Wikipedia, it's useful to be able to quickly type something like{{examine|Q42|P26}}
and preview it to see the structure of the property on Wikidata. I usually just do that without saving, so there's no record of the number of times it's been used. If there were another, more popular use for {{examine}}, I could see the point in moving this template to a longer, less convenient name. But there isn't, and this is just another piece of make-work for no benefit. --RexxS (talk) 17:19, 21 November 2020 (UTC)- Support as it adds clarity for newer editors who are trying to find this template with Google (I find undescriptive template names to be the main source of me not finding templates I know should exist). {{Examine}} should be retained as a redirect for power users and in the documentation. – Thjarkur (talk) 13:07, 29 November 2020 (UTC)
- Thank you, Þjarkur: you've convinced me of a benefit and I've therefore struck my objection. I'd be content to see your compromise implemented. --RexxS (talk) 02:17, 30 November 2020 (UTC)
