Merge with template drugabuse?

[edit]

Should Template:Drugabuse be merged here? Anxietycello (talk) 22:55, 6 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

No I think that's more of a topicbox that normally goes at the top-right of the page. It's a separate template. -- œ 14:49, 7 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Major?

[edit]

Is LSD considered a "major" recreational drug? Should LSD be removed, or mushrooms added? Mushrooms are more common.[1] Also, what about including Ethnomycology? - Steve3849 talk 21:08, 7 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

  1. ^ Ryan Grim Who's Got the Acid? Slate April 4, 2004
Ethno-whut? That's the first I've heard of the term.. So it could be good for informational purposes to add it.. but on the other hand maybe unpopular items don't belong in a navbox.
And yes of course LSD is considered a major recreational drug, next most popular to weed.. in the 60's anyway. That reference is referring to its current decline in popularity. Overall, historically, LSD is more important (see Wikipedia:Recentism) but I still recommend using that reference in the LSD or Psilocybin article.
Mushrooms? That's a bit more difficult, they ARE quite "major" but I wouldn't say MORE popular than LSD (in a historical context), and I think having one major hallucinogen is enough. -- œ 14:44, 8 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, when I created this template with that (highly debatable) section, I decided to place within it those drugs that have shaped the whole scene most significantly, regardless of era. It was never intended to be what drugs are used most currently (ketamine is big in the UK, and khat is huge in the arab world). I guess mushrooms would fit, having been used for millenia. Not totally sure about ethnomycology; I guess it could go in the culture section? Anxietycello (talk) 19:02, 9 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I'd add the mushrooms, leave out the ethnomycology. -- œ 11:13, 10 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Keep drug names "proper"

[edit]

I've changed alcohol to Ethyl alcohol, ecstasy to MDMA, Mushrooms to Psilocybin mushrooms, and Meth to Methamphetamine. Try not to use shorthand names and slang name (i.e "meth" and "ecstasy") Sincerally, C6541 (TC) at 21:38, 29 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Do you really think it's necessary to include both Amphetamine and Methamphetamine? -- œ 23:20, 29 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, they are two different chemicals, methamphetamine being the methylated form of amphetamine. They posses different biological effects and both have been widely used. Sincerally, C6541 (TC) at 07:10, 14 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Clutter

[edit]

Really keep this template clean and simple, it is an eye sore with some of the recent formatting. C6541 (TC) 08:27, 16 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Agreed. Enough toying around with it. As it is there's plenty of information available for any reader to easily find their specific topic of interest without having to include every single drug or variation. -- œ 20:59, 16 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

MDMA-Stimulant or Hallucinogen

[edit]

You guys stop edit warring over this. See the article on MDMA, it can easily fit in both categories, it doesn't really matter. It's both a hallucinogen and a stimulant, neither is more apt than the other. -- œ 00:17, 23 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

We already discussed it through on our talk pages. El3ctr0nika (talk) 13:16, 23 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Add Oktoberfest?

[edit]

I know beer festival is already on the list, but Oktoberfest is the biggest one and a huge part of Bavarian (and possibly German in general) culture and it's spread around the world too (I mean there's even a World of Warcraft holiday based on it, so maybe it should have its own mention? Needle sharing should be added under the drug trade heading. occono (talk) 19:40, 4 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Not sure where exactly it should go, but it should be on the template somewhere.--occono (talk) 21:22, 4 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Under "Drug culture" > "Other", alongside "Drug paraphernalia" seems its natural home. The items in "Issues with drug use" are more concerned with side-effects and consequences. Cabayi (talk) 08:01, 5 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Arecoline (Areca)

[edit]

It seems that Areca catechu is the main species in Areca that is used as recreational drug. Put Areca catechu instead of Areca to make it more specific? Butwho (talk) 18:09, 26 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

"illegi"

[edit]

It appears that a typo "illegi" is showing up on multiple Wikipedia articles that use a particular template. This error seems to stem from changes made to the "Drug use" template. The problematic text is part of a code snippet that looks like this: "<nowiki>illegi{{#invoke:Navbox with collapsible groups|navbox<nowiki></nowiki" This issue can be traced back to two specific edits made by user Tsavage:

To resolve this, the "illegi" text needs to be removed from the template. This would correct the error across all affected articles simultaneously. It would be helpful if @Tsavage: or another editor with the necessary permissions could make this correction to the template.
